Hi everyone, I've been very lucky to visit the Volks store in Osaka, Japan. Located in Nipponbashi, or what is known as 'Den Den Town' which is basically otaku heaven (and my kind of heaven hehe). Anyhoo, the Volks store is squashed between a long street full of nothing but shops selling anime and electronics (and the occasional hentai and maid cafe). The BJD area is the 7th floor of the store. It is Dollfie heaven. I didn't know what to expect and boy was I surprised. Just to let you know, the Volks store has warning signs all over saying 'Do not take pictures' so I could not take many and had to sneakily take some pictures. I'm sorry, Volks, I don't mean any disrespect, but the store was so beautiful!!!!! They have lots of outfits for sale ^^ Lots of cute stuff for girls though, like frilly outfits, socks, shoes, accessories, tea party sets....and there was not much for the boys. Only like 1 small section lol. And they had lots of dolls on display. Some had yellowed a great doll. They also sold all sorts of Dollfie doll parts, from heads, bodies, arms and legs. There was even a space with comfy couches and a catalog where you order your doll and go through the ordering system. The male staff wear suits and the female staff wear this kind of...maid outfit? Either way, it felt like I'd stepped into a shop from the Victorian era lol. Lots of eyeballs for sale from 14mm, 16mm, 18mm to 20mm. Their newest doll is a Hatsune Miku Dollfie. And if you pay over 5000 yen you get tax free but at that point I no longer qualify for tax free stuff. My main goal was to buy some tools so I bought some pink and white shine pearl, a wig for Nana, some brushes and a tool for stringing ^^ I would recommend this place if you are a Dollfie fan Thank you for reading. I'll see if I can post anything about the Osaka Dolk store since I've been there twice now.
Super cool! When I visited the volks USA store I seem to recall some no pictures signs, which is a real shame because the stores are neat!
Oh wow, I've always wondered what a BJD store actually looks like so that's really interesting to see. Though probably just as well there isn't a bjd store I can go to as I would have a hard time not buying all of the things XD
Terrific! How much all delicious!!! I really want to get there, it is a pity that I can not fly so far. Thank you very much for pictures!)))
This is really informative! I'm going to Japan next week, and will be heading there when we get to Osaka so its great to have an idea of what to expect! Thank you for taking pictures!
I didn't have the guts to take pics at the multiple Volks stores I visited while in Japan. XD I was way too intimidated by the signs and the thought of getting thrown out or something, so I didn't even attempt hahaa.
Thanks for the cool pictures and explanation. Sounds like a great visit. Hehe, same here. I visited the one in Akihabara in 2014. It was really big and pretty but I was too scared to take pics and get thrown out. They did have one small section where you could take pics of your doll in a diorama.
Yep, I went to the Akihabara one too. It's so huge! We started on the first floor with the used figured and made our way to the top floor. That one seemed to focus on Dollfie Dreams for the most part (and I do remember the little photo area- some people were photographing their dolls while I was there). I tried asking if I could just buy a body for my Kanata head, and they kept telling me they only sold whole dolls, but that I could buy another standard doll and I was like "But then I'll have another floating head..." And it confuses me cause they sell the DWC heads, but if they won't sell just a body, how will those heads ever become full dolls? Their logic was a bit weird lol.
I visited Volks in Los Angeles some years ago. It was a nice visit but smaller than I had expected. I asked, if I could take a few photos! They said: "NO". The shop has been closed now.
Waah, those pictures got me drooling *q* We've got to get a travel agency to do "doll tour" of japan (if it doesn't exist yet ) ... That's quite sad they said no, I kind of feel it's a bit contradictory with the hobby ... And too bad it's closed now, there's always a charm in seeing dolls irl, even if you weren't interested in the compagny before...
@fish and chips hello dear. i would like to ask. i'm planning to go to osaka this aug. and i haven't visited volks there. Is it like a normal store that i can go in and buy stuff? or i need to have like a sort of pass? because i visited dolk and like it was a normal store.. is it similar to tenshi no sati where you need specific pass to go inside. thank you, i appreciate your response so much (*´∀`*)
Heya! Nope, no pass needed at all... but the one in Osaka can be tricky to find. It was in a building beside a maid cafe and I had to go up to he 2nd or 3rd floor. I can't remember, but it definetely worth a trip
whuaa thanks for the reply. i did search on google how i'll be able to find the Volks osaka branch haha.. it's a bit complicated but i was able to get some directions. hopefully i won't get lost. HAHA
