Recently I've been really into late 1990's to early 2000's Korean and Japanese BJD Specifically volks and dream of dolls Paid scalper price for it but no regret. Just a kidult here wishing I was born earlier and could buy it! It's a volks misha / shinsha / F-12
There’s just something about those older dolls that tugs at the heartstrings. don’t you agree? I have so many banana, yellow and beauty green dolls in my collection. They give such a sense of nostalgia and they’re beautiful in their own way. Resin yellows and time goes by but those feelings never leave.
I saw that listing and I was like "no wonder I can't find any of the ear options for sale, this seller's been hoarding all of them"
Wow, I started collecting in 2004, and those Volks girls and parts were fairly rare even then! I don't know that I've ever seen a full collection of the option ears! That's so cool. I definitely love those first dolls as well.
Wow you really caught them all! The option ears come about so rarely, and so does F-12, congratulations on the lucky find! Please do show her off once she arrives, me and I'm sure all other old volks fan would love to see
There's something so soft and sweet about her face oml I love it. Please share how you end up styling her, she absolutely adorable!!
Congratulations, she is so precious! And, oh my god, the ears!!! I love and miss the old fairy ears options so much!!! You’re so lucky to have found such a treasure trove of them. I often check Y!J and Mercari for them but rarely see them. I wonder how the original collector managed to amass so many.
Congrats on your new F-12 dolly. The ear options look so cool. (I am obsessed with the cat ears) I also have some interest towards early Volks BJDs. They don't look as realistic as newer dolls, but they have something charming in their looks. My latest purchase was an old Volks MSD F-18 and I'm loving her.
Shinsya's wonderful! I used to have the cat girl MSD long ago.... I luv the vintage, esp Volks. I have an old F14 and F15 with the huge eyes in SD13 girl versions. I just acquired an old CH Ai Sia girl. I regret not getting one while the company was still around.
I love this. None of my dolls are as old as some of the Volks dolls, but they're pushing 15 years old, and I do love them and their super 'mellowed' resin more than the newer doll resin.
Vintage dolls are so cool, it's fascinating how designs have changed over the years! I'd love to get one someday, I don't mind yellowing.
Oh, magnificent!! Older dolls have this esthetic that just hits different. Congrats ♡ I enjoy older sculpts too, but they are more around 2000-2010 era. The oldest doll I own at the time is Volks F-28 from 2003. He's only one year younger then me hehe
I'm glad there's still love and interest for the oldies. Part of me worried that people would forget about them, especially since some of the companies are gone now and tastes have largely changed. It's good to see people getting into them now.
As someone who's still relatively new to the hobby, I've found that the oldies are actually my favorites. They just have a special charm to me
New Gosh, what a lovely find I've been idly looking for some older dolls too, it seems like you have to wait for them to come to you, rather than hunting for them actively lolol. Always so worth it! F-12 is just so darling and unique, she really stands out in Volks' lineup! I'm a fan of their old Dollfie Dreams too, especially the faceup style at the time. I'm such a sucker for the more "simplistic" look they had going on at the time. Are the ear pieces official from Volks, or are they third-party? What a variety!
