My 68cm body in Soom Tawny is finally here. I'm so glad it is the same Soom Tawny as my head, a 1:1 match.
The way he stands there is just so typical for this character, it represents his attitude perfectly.
The only problem is the neck. Vings makes these cylinder-shaped necks that are not compatible with most of my dolls' neck holes. I had to sand the neck to a rounder shape because he was not able to move his head on it.

 

I ordered 2 Vings 68cm bodies from the official dealer, Moonlight BJD, on 6/15, and just got my shipping notice! Apparently the packages are coming directly from China, which is odd since I thought Moonlight BJD was located in Canada...

I've heard EMS from China has been slow lately, so I'm a little worried it will take a while before I receive them.

 

Often wondered how they do it. But I guess it makes no sense to use such long shipping roads for dolls. The shipping costs would be extremely high.
If they do this for my horse I'll die xD

 

When I saw in this thread that other people's orders had started shipping, I contacted Moonlight for a shipping date estimate. They told me they were waiting for Vings to ship to them, and that they would contact me with shipping details after they received it. I wonder if maybe they have a warehouse in China...

I hope you could help me, please. I am interested in Vings 70cm and my floating head’s neck is 11cm. I am uncertain which Vings 70cm neck size with fit my head. Please let me know your thoughts.

 

Better go for 10.5cm
My head had 11,5cm circumstance and I bought 12 mm.
It was much broader than expected because they have a cylindric shape.
Even after sanding I still find it too broad

Oooh, just popping in to say that I purchased a Switch suit for my Victor and their HD 70cm size fits the 70cm Vings body perfectly. Like. Perfectly. It looks like it was made for him.

Also, picked up some hands from Switch and the resin match is dead on (switch rosy white).

So yeah, just in case that information is of use since these bodies are fairly new. ^___^

Hello everyone, does anyone who has the 70cm body have trouble getting them to stand? ._. I think it's a rolling ankle problem, was just wondering if it's just me ;-; Does anyone have any tips on how to help them stand, besides careful balancing? xD Or is this a common problem with all 70+ dolls?

Yes, Vings does resin matching to the colours of various companies, Ringdoll included.

I’m not too sure how they take in orders for international buyers, but I have asked them about things directly on Taobao and would get fast responses!

 

@Bubbleteaddict Did you ask in english or did you use a translator/speak to them in Chinese? I want to buy off their TB cause the body is alot cheaper than dealers but I have some questions to ask them on how to order.

You'll also have to find a shipping forwarder that is able to ship your item from China to your country of residence. Many want to just spare the trouble of doing that and having to liase back and forth, and would rather purchase through dealers instead!

I find it very worth it for the long run, especially if you're going to repeatedly buy stuff from the BJD shops based in China!

 

Gotcha! Ok cool I will ask my questions via translator. Taobao though has their own warehouse for international shoppers. I think I can just have them ship there. I’ve bought directly from Taobao only once before but it was just a wig and it shipped to their warehouse.

I have a shopping agent for TB but they are a bit particular with bigger purchases over $400 and want me to wire the money when I could just pay via credit card on Alipay directly on TB.

You are totally right it’s worth getting off TB. Vings body everywhere else is $550. For $539 on TaoBao direct I can get the body, jointed hands, both heel feet and legs and 3D printed heels. My agent is charging $575 so if I can’t figure out doing it directly I probably will just end up going through them.

Shipping tends to be really ex via Taobao direct especially if only the air shipping method is available for your country, you can save on much more via sea shipping, and the size limit for sea shipping is better for bulkier items.

Me too! I love boy with a strong shoulders! They even could look much better with cloth on.

 

I love the lean look of the original vings68 body but felt that the hips were a little too wide. Glad they're going to release one with broader shoulders!

 

Will both body types still be available? I really like the slimmer shoulders and bigger hips precisely because it's not like all the big guys with exaggerated, hyper masculine proportions.

 

I just discovered these gorgeous dolls. The 68cm body... Seira's head sculpt... I love everything about it! And the preorder window is closing soon!! I want to buy direct from Taobao (horrendous currency exchange rates means I refuse to pay in USD) but I don't think I have time to set up TB accounts and such... and I'm not mentally ready for more resin either. Do I take a chance at a next preorder? Or just bite the bullet, set everything up in a hurry and jump on this one? Ayiyi, decisions

 

I am purchasing from Superbuy you pay in yuan and dont have to convert to USD first (you don't need your own TB account for that). The body with 2 legs, jointed hands and heels came up to 3520 yuan. I unfortunately did not get their email that I had an extra 100 yuan shipping fee to pay (came from a slightly different email than before and it went to junk mail) and they cancelled my order .

Vings Taobao said orders closed Nov 9th but they still have the order form up (without the weird 9999.99 pricing that happens when they close orders but leave the page up as a placeholder for balance payment) so hoping they let me order anyway. I will report back if its too late or not once they confirm but if you want to try to get an order in while you can definitely try through Superbuy.

ETA: Wait just saw the IG post that there is 5 more days to order (11/18) but they linked to Moonlight and Stacys so I hope they will still take orders from their TB too even though they haven't updated the dates.

 

Yes, I was going by those dates on the IG post. I didn't know that the preorder window may have closed earlier on Taobao - hopefully not!

Hopefully some quick research into TB buying, plus my very rusty Mandarin Chinese reading comprehension (with assistance - thank goodness for Google Translate), will win the day Please report back if you can; I'll do the same.

I ended up using Superbuy (thanks for that rec as well) - it's a lot of money at stake for a first attempt at Taobao, I don't have confidence to shop direct yet, so I thought I'd go with an agent for now. Whew, that was a bit stressful, doing the due-diligence and getting all the money into the right channels - that's why I don't like to impulse buy dolls, lol. But I had good gut feeling about this. I guess I'll find out in a few months if I was right to trust my gut.

 

Congrats! Yeah Superbuy is turning out to be really great. I just realized they make buying from xianyu really easy as well (I just bought a doll head from them tonight off xianyu). Fingers crossed that everything works out! I also feel they are pretty reputable so I have a good feeling too!

 

Yeah you have to download the Xianyu app. Not sure how Superbuy is managing it but if you take a link off Xianyu and then go to their app a popup shows up automatically for you to enter the xianyu link. Then it translates the page into a shoppable one in English where you can add to their cart or pretty much check out from the page. I didn’t think this was possible since xianyu is app only so I’m super excited about it, the process I went through before in comparison was kinda wild lol.

So, for reasons I don't like to get into (because I'm still sore about it half a year later), I ended up missing last November's preorder. Yesterday I asked Vings about when their next preorder will be, and was told that it will open sometime in May and be advertised on Instagram, possibly elsewhere too. Not sure who or what will be available (Vings didn't confirm or deny my questions), but I hope that Seira will be offered again and I can finally secure him on a 68cm body.

I think the November preorder will be shipping this month as well. I look forward to seeing people's new Vings dolls!

So I got recommended a body from my post about shelling my OC, I finally got to looking into the Vings 68 body and I'm very much starting to like the style! I wonder when they will be available again? <.<

There were more colors available when ordering through their Taobao. They added Illusion Garden's Lace White for their most recent release. IG Lace White is a very strange color (pink w/gray undertone) but the Vings body wound up being a pretty close match (even though it didn't seem to have much of the gray undertone), so I was pretty impressed with it.
I got the 68cm 2.0 body in a little while ago and aside from having to shave the neck down a lot to get anything to fit it (it's basically a cylinder with no tapering), the body is really nice! The jointed hands I ordered are really nice as well, and came pre-wired!

@Astro oh interesting I didn't have issues with my Souris Etolie head, although granted he is big headed so the neck hole is probably wider LOL. What company heads did you have trouble fitting? Was thinking of ordering another for a few incoming 68cm heads but I might rethink that now as I don't want to have to shave down necks unless I have no option haha. There are a few other 68cm bodies I have my eyes on like Studio Naiko, White and Miracle Doll all have more femme/less muscle bodies for that size.

I'm also loving the new standard of companies prewiring hands its so nice to have them so functional right out of the box! (Now if only Soom would do that). I love how delicate they are too the fingers tilt up a bit and it looks a lot more natural.

 

Illusion Garden Johan needed a LOT of sanding on the Vings 68 neck to get him on it. The neck is basically a cylinder so unless the neck opening on the head is really wide, you'll have to taper it down.
It's still not a great fit in terms of up/down movement, because the Adam's apple is in the way. I reshaped it a bit though and now it's acceptable. Totally bounced my Johan on the floor while testing how his head fit though, so now he's off getting repainted and I can't enjoy him on the body quite yet
I think my friend had to sand a lot on the Vings 70 to get a Ramcube head on it as well.

FWIW the mod wasn't hard at all, especially if you have a ceramic craft knife. I took a long time to do it just out of an abundance of caution, but you kinda just... scrape and sand. I tested my Johan's fit on some other similarly sized bodies and just eyeballed their neck shape and went to town and kept sanding + testing the fit until the range of motion was good enough.

Anyway, I'm out here trying to will their in-progress 75cm body into existence. I'm really impressed with how the 68cm 2.0 body is engineered, so I'm hoping they release it or at least drop some news about it soon!

 

Ah I see! Hmm I was hoping to put some Morolab heads on them but now I will have to check neck measures again. Thank you for the info!!!

I also hope they come out with a 75cm body! They match so many companies it would be so easy to find bodies for bigger boys.
