Wearables Very first resin eyes

Feb 12, 2018

    1. Hello everyone! I made my very first round of eyes last night. I learned so much from the experience, but I would like to have your opinions. Sorry for the bad quality pics, I am stuck with just my phone camera. Never thought I would want a better camera. Anyway. Here they are:

So tell me what do you think? What can I do better next time?

EDIT: Sorry about the broken image. I don't know how to get rid of it.

    2. Wow, they look so cute! The only thing I can see that may need some work is keeping the glitter under control so it doesn't spread out of the iris. I'm a big fan of the dark blue ones and the mint green snowflake ones!

    3. Thank you! I didn't see the glitter till I was completely done and the resin had set. I just made some more a few hours ago and I made sure to get all the glitter off of them. I will post those as soon as I can.

    4. I think these are really cute and unique! My only critique (and this probably more of a preference) would be to add more layers of color to increase the depth in the eyes. The snowflake pupil is very cool, but I think some varying shades of blue would really make them pop! But awesome job taking a chance and really going for it! I see lots of potential :)

    5. Thank you so much for the input! And i agree! I am working on adding more depth of color to my eye making, I just kinda suck at mixing colors in the subtle way I want to. I should have some time tomorrow that I can work on mixing colors up, so hopefully I will have an update tomorrow with the next round of better looking ones.

    6. Can I ask a beginner question, sorry if I sound stupid but does the eyes HAVE to be resin or can you use glass or acrylic ones also?? I dont think my Emma here has resin, but I could be wrong. Also what are the benefits to the resin over other products? I think your eyes are great! Eyes are HARD to make regardless of products, awesome!!! thx for sharing!

    7. Oh no worries! as far as I know you can use acrylic or glass, or even polymer clay, it just depends on your preference. That being said I am still a total newbie to Dolls in general, so there might be reasons you cant use certain eyes in certain dolls. I personally love my resin eyes because they are really easy to make. at least for me. Just get a mold and some resin, mix it up, pour it, let it set then paint. then just fill it in with the clear resin. You could also ask in styling and crafting for a better answer, fro people with way more experience than me. Hope this helps!
