Utrecht Acrylics?

Jun 2, 2005

    1. Well, I'm saving for my first doll, and I'd like to know what I'll need in the way of art supplies--I understand the basics, but it seems like brands make a lot of difference. Now, I'm an artist, so I have a lot of stuff, and I had hoped not to have to buy much new.
I paint with Utrecht acrylic paints, and have plenty of them, but I don't know what they might do with resin, and I sure as hell don't want to hurt a $500 doll because I didn't do my homework on this.
Has anyone tried Utrecht? Any ideas about them? I've only heard mention of two brands of acrylic paints, but surely someone's tried others?

    2. I love that brand! As far as I know, the doll paints are just a runny version of regular paint. I would be bets to thin them with a retarder both to make them flow more and to give your self more working time. Any way, you can always test on the inside of the head cap to see if they will stain, dont forget to coat first!

Side note, I use that brand a lot, and I end up with paint on the walls some times and I have cleaned it off after its dried with out stains but i do have colored walls (turquoise)

Any way: spot test in teh head cap is the best answer I can give. All acrlyics are about the same but Utretch does put a lot of pigment in their paints, so it may be more likely to leave a stain once you remove old paint.

    3. Hm, Ok. I'll do that, though I was planning to buy all the stuff I'll need before my doll actually arrives. Eh, that's ok.... Once I get my job, I'll be able to get all this stuff!
