USPS Tracking Question - dispatch time listed, time zone?

Sep 26, 2008

    1. Just a quick question... The time listed would be going by Shanghai's current time, current?

I'm just trying to get a time frame into my head regarding how much time has pasted since the package left China. I'm working this weekend and my hours likely won't allow me a trip to the post office to pick up a missed package. And on the same note, I won't be home for a good chunk of the day and EMS requires a signature. No one's in my buildings office during the weekend or I'd just have my land lady sign for it.

It's a bit problematic since I have to leave my apartment at around 4am Monday morning to catch a flight. I'll be away for a week so I'm trying to figure out how to get the package before leaving...

The one upside is that EMS here is delievered seperately from the regular mail so it could come in the morning when I'm still here, or after I've gotten home...

    2. Yeah, it's weird! It should be local time (Shanghai in this instance), but sometimes the times just don't add up.

    3. Hehe, ok I thought so! I just wanted to make sure. Thanks. :]

Well, now it's Saturday, September 27th local time 9:50am in Shanghai. That helps a bit. Hm.

    4. It's not worth putting a hold on it, I won't really be gone too long. I would prefer to intercept it before Monday, but if worst comes to worst I can set a date for a redeliever and have my land lady sign for it and drop it off in my apartment. I'd actually feel better doing that since I know it's secure and the package will already be there waiting for me.

It's just mostly the agony of knowing it's here waiting while I'm half way across the country... Heh.

    5. Ok one more question... ^___^''

Until how late in the evening does USPS deliver EMS packages? My tracking number shows the package cleared customs early this morning and is in Chicago, so I'm a little surprised the USPS man hasn't stopped by... And no one rang my door while I was at work and there's no slip so... I'm wondering, as it's only 5:45pm ish here at the moment, is it possible they will deliver later in the evening?

I've only ever had EMS packahes come in the mornings, as early as 7am, but I've never had one come later so I'm not sure... Couldn't find anything about the timeframe they deliver til on the USPS site either.
