Shipping US to Canada Shipping Times (Input needed)

    1. I have an EMS package coming in from Volks USA. The package was mailed on Feb 8th and it has been held up by Mississauga Postal Facility in Ontario for 5 days after it was released from customs last Friday 11th Feb. I know this package is not a doll but still it’s a package and it is stuck in Mississauga.

      Does this normally happen in Ontario? I have been living in Saskatchewan where this has never happened. Can I collect the parcel from the Mississauga facility? The call centre was not able to tell me if the hold up is due to a mistake on the address or if the package has been opened or damaged.

      I call Canada Post on Tuesday to inquire and all they told me was that there is some delay in the Mississauga facility. They blame bad weather.  If I don't see the parcel by Thursday or Friday, I should write to the sender and inform them of the status. The sender has to file the complaint with USPS and it is up to the sender to check with USPS for the reason of the hold up. I may also want a refund because the parcel is late.

    2. This kind of wait does usually happen at the Mississauga facility (I've had it happen several times in various seasons). I don't know if you can actually pick up the parcel from the postal facility because normally the only way you can do a trace for the actual location is if the sender puts in an inquiry.
       
    3. Shipping's times for me was:

      EMS:
      US to Customs: 2 days
      Customs wait: 5 days....(Usually)
      Customs to me: 2 days.

      Total: 9-10 days
      ____________________

      Registered air (Small packet USPS.)

      From US: 2 -3 weeks.

      Over seas: 4 weeks average.

      A 9 working days wait for an EMS package is unusually long. My package is held by the postal facility for 5 days after it was released from customs. If this happened in Saskatchewan, it means there is something wrong with the address on the package but it seems to be normal in Ontario. I'm disappointed with the time frame. :( I shall continue to wait next week.

      Just a thought: The guaranteed delivery time frame is 5 working days for EMS packages. We can ask for a refund of the shipping cost. Only when Canada Post is made to pay will they wake up to the fact that it is wrong to work this way.
       
    5. Could it be that the address is not written correctly? or a wrong address? A poorly written address label or one that does not make scene to the scanning machine could hold it up.
       
    6. I still don't see the parcel. It's 9 working days since it was mailed. I don't know when to draw the line, when to ask the sender to make an inquiry. I suppose I'd wait another day? I'd call Canada Post again tomorrow but the call centre won't be able to help. They could not tell me why the package is being held up. May be, they will send it tomorrow.....:( :( :(

Probably got caught up w the delayed packages still going thru customs that were held up arriving due to weather across the country here not to mention the holiday stuff that is still Im sure pouring in. I waited 46 days for an ems package that was shipped in mid Dec to arrive in feb.. Im sure they are still having problems w mail.
       
    8. Most frustrating, parcel has not arrived. It's been held by the postal facility for processing since March 14th. I have contacted sender.Canada Post says it is not normal for an Xpress Post parcel to be sitting for so long in a postal facility.
       
    9. Volks USA filed a "research" request through USPS and waited for 5 working days for a reply. Somewhere along the way, my postal code was logged wrongly and the parcel got stuck. The parcel arrived more than 1 month after the purchase date but I'm thankful it arrived. Volks service team has been very helpful and attentive. The postal code on the parcel is correct, so it must have been scanned wrongly at some point in time during the shipping process. It's a strange mistake.
