I'm just a little curious if anyone here goes Urban Exploring to get some shots? I know there are risks when doing this... Which in turn, will probably damage your dolls. [i.e. while jumping fences, collapsing stairs, falling debris...etc] IMHO it sounds definitely exciting and you can get some amazing shots! Urban Exploring has recently sparked a GREAT interest in me! But... I don't have the guts to go into the higher security areas/intermediate infiltration level places where I have to use some ninja like skills and evasion to get into a building. And on top of that... With a doll?! Of course... Remember safety precautions is must be taken into consideration. And you are taking a risk whilst exploring with you and your doll.... If you agree with my opinion... I'm glad! If you're nearby maybe we can meet up sometime and do this! If you don't agree, I'd love to hear your reasons why! And if you have done this before... Elaborate pleaassseee!
Hm... Urban Exploring is really interesting (there used to be a really good site about one guys experiences, it had a lot of great photos, but that was years ago and now it's lost in the aether...). I know my brother is an enthusiast. And some of my friends formed the Climbing On Stuff Club. As you can probably guess, it consisted mainly of climbing on stuff. At night. My best friend's goal was to get onto the roof of one of the college buildings... If he asked me, I'd probably go, but I don't think I'd take a doll! Too risky-- I'm incredibly OCD about my stuff, especially when it comes to clambering about strange places. Of course, if I had been able to go 'on recon' and knew that getting to a certain location wouldn't be too much of a problem, I might make a second trip with a doll for photo purposes. But I definitely wouldn't take one on a first trip! =^__^= Anneko
I never heard of Urban Exploring until now, and to be honest it sounds so exciding! I live the most boring life ever, this is the kind of thing I actually want to do to break this boring life. I think I wouldn"t bring my doll with me, maybe heavily protected my bubblewrap in my backpack X"D. And then take the doll out on a beautifull spot to make pictures of to watch something.
Hahaha, ChiwoMawa, I can see this become great thread! Why does all cool people have to be in L.A? I'd love to go with you! ;-; Im crazy enough and o.O man, there would be some cool shots to be taken, too!! o.O Hey, good idea, Miku. I think putting our little loves in a backpack would be nice...but it'd be slowing us down...but it wouldnt stop me from bringing him anyway!! *throws Kunai*
I have been known to do a bit of urbex in my time, but the hardcore stuff is definately not something I'd ever recommend taking a doll into. EVER. And seriously, even after recon, there are many MANY locations I wouldn't even take a decent CAMERA into let alone a doll. Aside from the fact that urbex is classed as tresspass and you therefore run the risk of less than caring site guards tossing you out and confiscating anything on you, let's not forget that abandoned, falling down buildings often contain extremely hazardous chemicals and substances which you don't want touching anything precious, namely you, your camera and your doll. THAT SAID...for the more gentle urbex side, the kind where you can just walk on in, I will admit that there have been times I've wished I had certain dolls with me merely because the setting would have suited them so well. It'd probably be easier in Europe where certain sites are more or less local tourist attractions now and in those instances, I wouldn't think twice about bringing a doll, no one would care after all, but certainly in the UK or the US, I'd have to say a blanket no for safety reasons I think. *edit* Also, talking about specific venues on any public forum is a seriously bad idea, so if you wanted to organise something with local doll people, you'd be better off doing so in pm's
