hey guys! just wanted a little help here X_X I have a new dslr a sony 230, and I realized that when I save a picture in photoshop the picture is crystal clear, and in DA they look just the same! but when I upload to show them in DoA the pictures blur up = ( and get pixely and washed up) after some days pass. please help 8( I save my picture in "Web and devices" from photoshop and use JPEG. It used to work well in my Nikon D40, but with my sony it seems to blur up after some days of uploading. http://lunamarie.deviantart.com/art/Mother-189384236 ^ how the picture normally looks. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?414987-Mother-Zaoll-Luv ^ the washed up/pixely aftermath -_- help please!!
I save my photos from Photoshop under PNG. And then when I upload them onto photobucket, flickr, etc - they don't blur.
That's really strange. Have you made sure that the color profile is sRGB and not something like AdobeRGB or ProfotoRGB? That's the only thing that I can think of that will cause such unusual behavior. That aside, I think the best way to avoid issues like this is to just use an external host for the photos, like Photobucket or Flickr.
Also, keep in mind that a JPEG compresses the file information everytime you save as well. If you wind up making multiple edits and continually saving, the image continues to compress and you get a lot of pixelation and image debris. I would recommend saving as PNG to prevent the compression. Just a thought though. ^__~
Are you uploading the exact same saved file to both dA and tinypic? Perhaps the problem is in the image host, not the file itself. I notice the exact same image on dA is 145Kb while the one on tinypic is only 20K. A 20K file at those dimensions is naturally going to look pixellated. Also, PNG is a poor choice for photography images, even on the Web. They take so much longer to load, many browsers do not read them correctly, and as long as you know how to use Save for Web in Photoshop you'll get a similar quality file. PNGs were built for web design, not digital imaging.
It looks like tinypic is compressing the image (presumably so it doesn't suck up too much of their bandwidth). You might want to look for a photo host that doesn't compress images. I use flickr to share my photos, and there are several threads here about different image hosts people use to post their photos on DOA.
thanks so much guys! I'll be using flickr for sure now to share photo's, tiny pic isn't worth it at all X_x but only weird thing is with my old dslr I would upload to tinypic and it never got pixely. but for now, I'm sticking with flickr! thanks so much guys 8)
yep! Tiny pic is compressing it dA can work as a photo host too if you're already uploading all your photos there, just take the URL from there! (right click, copy image location) Also, if you value your meta data (all the data that says basically the settings on your camera) then stick to JPG format, if you save it in anything else, it will lose that information.
