Does anyone have a Universe Doll in Light Tan and Dark Tan? I ordered a doll through a TaoBao agent and the resin color looks normal but they are insisting the color is light tan (the color I ordered). I know lighting and monitor color can play a roll, but I am still iffy! They sent several photos but they all look very....white. Can anyone help me out by posting pictures of the tan colors in various lighting? I tried to google, but only got a bunch of random stuff. I have highlighted the colors in question below! I don’t have the references you want, but unless that photo was taken under some very strange lighting conditions there is no way that is Light Tan.
Exactly what I am saying. I am currently arguing with them, but it looks like I might be stuck with the WRONG DAMN COLOR. Not going to match the head I have.
I don't have any of Universedoll's tan resins (only normal yellow) but I could see that being a VERY washed out photo of tan actually. Maybe ask them to take the photo again under a different light? And maybe have them take the body out of the box and put against something white instead of black so you can get a better idea of the color? I hope you can get it sorted out!
They put it on a tan table and it still looks kinda towards normal resin color. Here is the pic: Body by ✦Dedeko✦, on Flickr
@Anshishoku I hope you don't mind, I dropped your photo into my photo editor and adjusted the white balance to the little white tissue on the desk and this is the color result. It is not what my normal skin yellow Universe dolls look like, and normal pink should be lighter than normal yellow, so my guess is this their light tan? Maybe asking in the Universedoll thread can help? I don't remember if other people have posted any tan Universedolls there.
I sure hope you are right. I would still like a photo of an actual doll to compare too, but I guess Universe Dolls are kinda scarce...especially tan ones. Which is a shame, because they are so lovely!
Yeah, it's a tough one. I hope it's right for you!! Here is a link to the Universedoll thread, maybe more people can help there.
To be fair, even in the comparison photo the light tan looks quite similar to the normal yellow. Sorry I can't help more, I don't have a tan Universe Doll and they seem pretty scarce (think UD only started offering tan options relatively recently, at that).
I posted in the US doll thread too, so hopefully, someone has a doll in that color that can help me out a little. Even if it was the wrong color, I doubt I would be able to get a doll in the correct color. A TaoBao agent will most likely not correct the mistake that was made, as they would probably have to buy the right color out of their own pocket? If it is the wrong color, this will be the first ever error in my nine year doll collection history. Well, I once bought a doll head from DOLK (never again) that was forgotten about and I guess they had to send me a display head as compensation because the heads were limited. THAT was a nightmare... Anywho, right now all I can do is wait and worry, I guess.
I’m waiting on a light tan doll from them. I also have a number of other tans to compare to, when it eventually arrives.
Ok, he arrived, and I’m afraid it’s not great news. The color is pretty close to their PU Yellow skin. That is to say it’s barely tan. Slightly lighter than but similar to Souldoll milk cocoa. I said something to my dealer about it and they said they’d pass along my message to the company. For paying extra they could do better.
Yea, mine arrived too and I forgot to post an update. The body is basically normal skin, in my opinion. I am super disappointed as it does not match the head I was going to use the body with at all. I did a box opening video and compared it to other resins, I just forgot about it until now.
Before I had a Universedoll body in light tan. It was a close match to copper oriental from Dollshe and real skin from Iplehouse.
