the thread name says it! i'm looking for shops that sells bjd clothes shoes and accessories in uk, would be the best if its easy to find - not neccessary have to be in london the kind of clothes i'm looking for is mainly victorian style with frills and poofy skirt - that kind of things or punkish clothes or vintage theme.... or anything actually.... *lol* i've heard there's one in london - called vintage dolls or something but i'm not sure where exactly is it. if any of you know where i could find these kind of shops please tell it would be great if you could even tell the direction (like tube station, train station, how many mins of walking, what is near, what colour is the shop etc.) thanks in advance!!
You only looking for actual shops not online ones in the UK? there is no specific BJD shop but you might find shops that sell clothes that might fit BJD. If you are interested in online shops, I'll kick you off with a couple! http://doll.littlepinkfaery.co.uk that's me, I make wigs! http://www.kassaidreams.co.uk/boutique.html this lady hand makes clothes and underwear, pretty good stuff. I know of other UK makers but they don't have websites!
I just thought, you could check out google map...it always helps me. Especially if you know the name of it! Btw, I live in Edinburgh so any shops in sorta east Scotland or whatever would be useful if anyone knows of any...i kinda doubt there are any here though *sigh*
Dolly Rocket (www.dolly-rocket.com) sell Cheerydoll clothes. Trouble is, they don't hold many in stock and you would need to wait for the order to be placed by them. However, it would avoid getting stung for customs fees (as I just did when ordering Cheerydoll stuff from Denver Doll. never again!).
Hi!!!~ This summer I am going to be in London for study English (in July) I would like to know some physical shops where to buy clothes and accessories for BJD ^^ Thanks!!
I don't think there are any physical shops you can buy stuff...I've certainly never heard of any. I know someone wanted to open one, but I don't think it worked out.
There used to be a seller on ebay based in London that sold BJD stuff, however something eventually went wrong and they messed up many many orders and got kicked off. Thought that was odd because they delivered to me fine. Oh well. I cannot name any specific except for a few odd customisers in this country. Physical shops however I have no clue if any exist. The only stuff I buy in a physical shop for my dolls is dollhouse funiture for my tinies
One-Stop Otaku Shop on eBay has been wonderful in their dealings with me and they're UK based. I bought a pair of white lace-up mary-janes and a denim skirt for Gwenllian from them, and when they found out the denim skirt wasn't in stock I got a refund straight away and when the shoes did arrive, the seller had included a free Dollmore denim waistcoat to apologise that the skirt I wanted wasn't in stock. I can highly recommend them.
Why not try visiting doll fairs? I haven't been for ages (before BJDs became popular) so am not sure whether there'll be specific clothes, but I'd imagine there will be Victorian-style clothes that fit. Even if there aren't there should be plenty to see and inspire you. Unfortunately the next Granny's Goodies Fair at Kensington Town Hall isn't till September (you've just missed one) but it may be worth googling to see if there are others.
Wow! I didn't know about these folks. They don't sell any Hound-sized bits, so I'm stuffed, but I will keep an eye on them. They also seem to have tables at various anime/manga expos, so that would be a good way to see their wares in the flesh, so to speak. Update: I just contacted them and they said that they will start selling clothes for 70cm dolls from June. They sound like lovely people. A great find!
Another UK-based online store is Angelesque (here). They ar eUK Dollzone agents and seem to have some Dollmore stuff as well. However, there appear to have been some problems recently, with people not getting their goods and not getting any reply to emails (see this thread). So, until and if that is all sorted, it might be an idea to steer clear.
Hiya, just to let you know that any problems that there have been with Angelesque are now resolved (as I run it) lol so if you are looking for Doll-zone clothing I have plenty of stock on the site and ready to send out, I also stock Dollmore items and some Monique wigs so please feel free to check out my store and happy shopping! Cheers x
me and lootysushi design n make clothes, cureently making some for my daisuke which consists of a really nice loli jacket and waistcoat too :] pics soon n a thread on marketplace too
I just checked them out and it looks like they're taking a break from the business for a while I'll definitely be going back to One-Stop Otaku Shop though. Another thing I'd suggest is raid charity shops; they sometimes will get old porcelain/vinyl dolls from time to time with hard-to-fit accessories like shoes, glasses and umbrellas. The shop might be willing to split the accessories or clothes from the doll, or you could sell the porcelain doll on and keep the clothes for your BJD. If you make a list of the necessary measurements of your doll and keep it handy when you're shopping this makes your shopping life easier. My boyfriend collects old SLR cameras and lenses so I've learnt everything I know from him
Not clothing, but a UK dealer worth knowing is hiroboy (www.hiroboy.com). They stock Mr Super Clear (yay!) both normal and UV Cut. Costs about £6 (ex p&p) and I have found them to be very prompt.
Yeah, me again. Just to let you know that One Stop Otaku Shop has just got a table at the MCM Expo in London on 25th/26th May. They will be in Anime Village and will hopefully have some BJD stuff with them. Yay! More opportunities to empty the bank account!
They do have quite a nasty habit of marking things up I've found, I'm hoping they don't go nuts when selling at expo since it's always nice to handle stuff before buying
Just a warning about One Stop Otaku Shop; their doll items have huge mark ups. For example these boots are $16.85 (£8.50) direct from Mimiwoo: http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dollfie-D...hZ019QQcategoryZ84635QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem But if you buy them through OSOS, they are $30 (£15) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SD-Dollfie-BJ...hZ019QQcategoryZ48945QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem Bear in mind Mimiwoo doesn't charge much for shipping, especially combined and customs tend not to hit items from Hong Kong... Aswell as the fact that regular airmail fro HK is very quick, I think it's much better to buy direct from the supplier. Hope that saves some people some money ^^
oh thank you so much for all the answers so sad i cant go to the expo in may cos i have exams! and thank you for telling me about One Stop Otaku Shop I've just been to their site and its true about the huge mark up :O!!! And also now i am wondering about the furniture that would be in the same scales as bjd (or things related to this) like kinda antique furniture, tables, chairs etc. where can we buy those? it could be either website or shops though, doesnt necessary need to be in uk too. (cos i might ship it to my house in bkk) does anyone know about this? and thank you very much for all the replies i'm appreciate
Hi, just thought i would revive this thread as Angelesque are having a sale at the moment and loads of clothing is reduced, as for furniture, try car boot and charity shops as you can buy small chairs, etc from them and also I look at the childrens section of big stores as there are sometimes bits of furniture they have sourced that are ideal for dolls to pose on! Good luck!
just to let you know that okra currently have a bed that fits two msds perfectly. ^^ its very nice and only costs £10.
ooh yeah I got one from a bootsale about three weeks ago. It's more MSD sized but SD's can sit on it...looks fab!
Not what your looking for.. I know of a chinese store what sells what your looking for there very good and I never get charged customs etc but heres a uk based one that's just tshirts http://www.geek-stylish.co.uk
I always go to angelesque when i shop from the UK - carol is great and i see she has posted here!! hello!!! lol as a customer i would recomend Carol to everyone so please do check out her shop. i will be back soon for more goodies!! there are a few other uk shops that i know of but i have never used them myself - AngelDolls UK http://angeldolls.co.uk/ Arkaya-art.co.uk http://www.arkaya-art.co.uk/main.html i have never used them so i cant give any idea on the service. if you would like a list of companies this link i find the best - http://www.bjdcollectasy.com/bjd-companies
www.angels-cave.com is also UK based, and we do a few doll shows a year too. We mostly deal with dollheart preorders through the site, but we have MSC in stock and a few other bits and we are working on getting some basic clothing sets up this summer and some new one-off sets too. ^__^
Hey, Conventions are usually a good place to get BJD clothes from. I went to one in Derby last year and there was a stall there selling doll things. Whether or not they have a website I don't know because it was before I was into the hobby.
