My first BJD arrived yesterday and I’m so happy! It’s a dream come true after so many years. I’m sure Tazz is just the first of many more to come. I bought the Tazz fullset in mousse white skin on August 1st. He was shipped on August 5th and arrived on August 28th. I expected it to take at least two months, but it was surprisingly fast. IMG_2070 by wutmv, no Flickr I haven't taken good photos of him yet, so you’ll have to deal with these potato phone pictures. The box has a different design than the photos I saw. Personally, I find this new version more pleasant. IMG_2075 by wutmv, no Flickr His accessories came in a different box. IMG_2079 by wutmv, no Flickr And here he is (already took the plastic wraps off). IMG_2080 by wutmv, no Flickr This is the first time I’ve held a BJD, and it’s much sturdier than I imagined. He also stands up easily. IMG_2071 by wutmv, no Flickr More pics IMG_2077 by wutmv, no Flickr IMG_2078 by wutmv, no Flickr Unfortunately, the two piercings he has on his mouth came off. I only noticed this hours later when I looked again at the promotional photos and saw that mine only had glue marks left. I don’t know if they came off when I removed the faceplate or during shipping, but since the box was already rummaged through, even if they were there, they would have fallen to the floor, and I think it’s very unlikely that I’ll find them now. Ilustração Sem Título by wutmv, no Flickr But it doesn’t bother me. I can just make spikes with air-dry clay and paint them with metallic acrylic paint. But what kind of glue would be appropriate? Experienced collectors, please help me. And here’s the only thing that bothered me: his hat. I tried several ways to get this hat to sit right on his head, but it just doesn’t seem right in any way. Comparing it with the official images, it’s already clear that what I received is missing that piece of fabric attached with safety pins, which honestly I don’t see as a big problem. But what really bothers me are the harnesses attached to the beret. They are WAY too big, and the way they are sewn makes it impossible to position them like in the photo without deforming the whole thing (and honestly, the entire structure of the beret doesn’t seem right). Ilustração Sem Título by wutmv, no Flickr I don’t know how I can fix this without ruining the hat. If anyone has any tips, please help me. The rest of the clothes are perfect, identical to the official photos, and everything fits perfectly. The hat was the only defective piece. IMG_2076 by wutmv, no Flickr Overall, I love him. Despite the disaster with the hat, I’m still very happy with my purchase. I’ll definitely be buying more Gem Dolls
Congrats on your first BJD!! As for the piercings, you can actually buy small nail art studs in those shapes. I've found Elmers Glue works best for me, it comes off with water and is pretty sturdy, as well as drying clear. It doesn't damage the faceup at all (I've used it to make scars on top of faceups and it comes off easy, so using a small bit as adhesive for piercings is no problem). It is SO easy to work with and all you'd have to do is use a toothpick to dab a bit on top of the actual glue already there and use your finger to hold the stud in place As for the hat, it almost looks like it was afixed further back on his head, which may be why it looks off? Very disappointing about the belt size though, but the rest of the full set is SO cute!
Thank you for the tips I hadn’t thought about using nail studs. I just looked them up and found some so small that they should fit his face perfectly.
No problem!! The best thing about that glue as well is up to the moment its set, you can move things around to make sure its perfectly even
Ah I love seeing a Tazz sculpt! I'm waiting for Ann... she was supposed to be here, but the usps has fumbled my delivery so idk where she is right now.... praying she comes home soon!
Ohh he's such a cutie! My sister went for him as well but didn't get the fullset, so it's a treat to see all these pictures with the fun costume and faceup.
Congratulations on getting such a cutie for your first bjd! And that's some very impressive shipping as well. He looks fantastic with or without those lip piercings by the way. I hope you love him for ages!
Oh boy!! He's adorable! (I ordered a fullset myself. I only hope mine arrives as quickly as yours did!) Thanks for sharing!! Congrats on your first dollie! I might be a little biased.. but great choice! I hope he brings you joy for many years to come.
