I have been trying to find a body for my M Duke blood wood head in tan resin for quite some time. I saw that Alice's Collections had an Island Doll 73cm Norse Myth body in Sunburned Resin in stock. The price was too good to pass up so I purchased it hoping the resin would match somewhat. Warning there will be doll nudity. imgur.com imgur.com imgur.com (I didn't realize Island doll sculpted hairs in that area. I must say I burst out laughing at the thought of someone carefully sculpting those hairs.) imgur.com ( The resin match is pretty good. The head is slightly darker but the difference isn't too noticeable) imgur.com imgur.com I am pretty happy with the resin match. The body is okay. Honesty I think it may be too big for the head. I kind of like the long neck look it gives him though. I will probably replace it with a different one at a later point in time. Except the head won't come off now. I managed to get it on but the hook is suddenly stuck. imgur.com. (The hook seems too big and is now caught on the head. Does anyone know what I should do? Would using pliers to bend the hook work?)
I would use pliers to wiggle the S hook a bit. It looks that the angle is causing it to catch in the front. This is because the S hook is taller than it is wide. Try gripping the hook with the pliers and wiggle while gently rocking the head forward and back. If it goes on, so it will go off, so don't panic, easy does it You don't need to bend the hook but pliers will give you better grip on it. Then you can use your dominant hand to manipulate the head as needed. The body looks handsome! The sculpted hairs are a surprise I suspect that the long neck effect is caused by the silicone kips at the top of the neck. which are great if you need to accomodate a larger neck hole of the head, but your guy does not seem to require it because it's pushing him up. Try removing it and see if the fit is better! Once you pop that head off, that is.
Thank you so much. I was able to remove his head doing as you suggested. I removed the silicone kip at the top of his neck and put the head back on. I think he looks so much better now. Now that is head is on probably I think it fits well. imgur.com Do you know why the neck hook had a metal spring wrapped around it? I took it off, but was this important? I stored it in the box.
I have the same body for my Duke in the same skin tone too. My head is normal skin so I'm going to blush it a bit darker to match. It’s a nice body for him but I find with mine that his head movement isn’t the best. I may sand the neck just a little for better fit. Yours looks great as well.
Glad you were able to get him situated on the body and the s hook situation figured out He is looking much more confident and at home on this body! I think that defined neck and clavicle suits his head so well! I have never owned nor seen a bjd with a spring like that so I really don't have a guess as to what it's for. However it doesn't hurt to hang onto it in case you figure out its purpose later
