UFDoll (ABS+PVC bjds)

@RinSetsua I have a 1/4th body. They're technically off-topic for DoA, but they're legit, and like Hujoo, the hard ABS plastic is about the closest to resin you're going to get in alternative materials. So they're nice and strong, but also lightweight. Mine is strung tight, and poses sturdily. The joins are exceptionally firm, and may require more strength than usual to manipulate, but not to a counterproductive degree. UFdoll's signature design piece is a cat / bear headshape for the front of the knee and elbow peanuts. And they're easy to hybrid other heads with.

If I had to pick the biggest downsides, they would be limited arm posability and size. While they can get a fairly decent range of motion, a bicep swivel + deeper arm sockets would go a long way. Not to mention the hands. I think they can come with alternates, but mine only came with wide-spread fingers, which makes changing tops difficult. Things with long sleeves are basically nil without removing the hands every time. They're also huge, clocking in more around Volks MSD / older Dollzone / 'big baby' size, so finding them clothes can be a bit of a challenge. Mine was wearing overalls for Dust of Dolls Roze with no problems due to the pear shape.

I don't have an MDD body to compare, but I can tell you now that the double-jointed legs and much cheaper price would both be benefits. However, if you're not limited by budget, I'd also recommend looking into Obitsu / Azone 1/4th. They have fully double-jointed vinyl bodies that are fairly sturdy, but would fit aesthetically and scale-wise with an MDD.

Wondering if anyone has one of the 70cm guys? I'm super curious about the more mature-faced boy (501, I'm pretty sure that's his sculpt number)

He arrived yesterday! Just one pic here, but there are more on my Instagram & Tumblr if you want to see them. He's super beautiful and the quality of the ABS is really good. It felt sort of odd to the touch when I first got him, but I got used to it pretty quickly. He does scuff a little (gets some shiny spots), but it buffs out easily with a magic eraser so that's fine. (I think Smartdoll Cortex does the same thing, so it must be a similar treatment; I don't have this issue with my Hujoo Io at all.)

It's pretty comparable! I only have one other 70cm doll at home, a Dollshe Bernard on the Pure body, but I bought him some Endless clothes in their general "uncle" size and they fit almost perfectly. A little tight, but he can certainly get them on and they fasten with no real difficulty—he just can't sit in them. He's wearing uncle/70cm sized shoes and a shirt, too.

I don't see why not? Compare the neck sizes same as any hybrid! They're pretty popular for using with resin heads though.

 

I'd be curious if a resin head wasn't too top heavy on the body. I have two 70cm all resin guys and they're pretty hefty.

Would be nice to know if they have something comparable in measurements to an Obitsu 60, I do want to replace that body.

 

It seems to work just fine? I haven't tried it myself (yet), but I do plan on getting the 75cm body for my JR Brad head in the next week. Here's a few Weibo posts of users who did the resin head/UFdoll body combo for the big boys:

And I can obviously give my personal review when that happens! They are set to release a 1/3 girl body, but I don't know if they have any plans to do a 60-ish boy. We shall see!!

Do you know how heavy this 75cm body is? Ws thinking this would be an excellent body for taking outside for photos if it was much lighter than resin alternatives would you be ok in weighing it when it comes in?

 

I'll see if I can find the electronic scale and weigh him when he arrives, but I know they're lighter than resin by a considerable amount. @Idoru also owns a 75cm body, so maybe they can answer!

 

I do indeed, and boy howdy are they lighter than resin! I have a full 70cm doll from UFdoll, too, and he's the one I brought with me to Resin Rose--I got a real kick out of having people hold him and watching their faces. These boys are LIGHT!

My 75cm body, with a resin head on, is 3 lbs 15oz/1.78kg! I think that's about half of what my fully resin 75cm doll weighs? SIGNIFICANTLY lighter, at the very least!

 

Does anyone have the 1/4 boy body? I'm a bit tempted with their current sale but I'm also afraid it's too light to hold a resin head up well if anyone has any insight, I'd love to hear what you think of the body!

I have 2 of the UF male 75 cm bodies and I have had mostly positive experiences with them, but be very careful with the elbow joint. The upper arm ends in an arch around the elbow and the plastic is thinner right there. I just cracked mine yesterday when I moved the arm side to side at the elbow ball joint. This had already almost happened on the other arm also, from the previous owner.
The look of the body is beautiful though. Nicely proportional chest and thighs and great head mobility.
Also, these bodies have no trouble supporting the weight of a resin head.

Yeah, I just bought my 1/5 body on LD. It's going to be crazy modified to go on a pair of Fairyline dragon legs. (I didn't like how the regular Fairyline/Minifee body went with the head I'm using it for and needed something smaller.)

 

How different is it modding these guys? Also I tend to like my guys string a lil tighter. Have the broken under pressure?

My 75cm guy arrived with a crack in the middle of his upper chest piece (they're packed in a plastic molded shell thing like an action figure instead of having padding/bubblewrap like a BJD usually does). I'm still waiting on Christina to get back to me to see if they'll send me a replacement part.

 

Oh I hope they'll make it right!

Just thought I'd post an update since it's officially been a month since my 75cm 312 arrived damaged (a crack in the middle of the chest piece and the back of the head cracked clean through (the area that sits on the neck is really thin))

He arrived September 26th and I immediately took note of the crack in the chest piece and emailed Christina at New Clover the same day, deciding I didn't want to risk him cracking further, I just put him back in his packaging. There were holidays happening in China at the time and I knew it might take a few days/ over a week for her to get back to me. A week went by (October 2nd) and I decided to look him over more closely and found that the thin area of the back of his head (that sits on the neck) was cracked completely through (I can wiggle the pieces on either side of the crack with my finger). I immediately emailed Christina about this other issue. I included pictures in both of my emails to better show what I was dealing with.

She got back to me the next day on October 3rd, saying since the holidays were still ongoing, she'd message UFDoll after the 8th. I told her I understood, and waited. I ended up waiting until a week after the 8th, so the 15th, and messaged her again to see if she'd gotten any updates. She replied that UFDoll hadn't responded to her yet.

It's now the 27th, and I've had no further updates from Christina. It's been a full month since he arrived and I don't even know if they're willing to make replacement parts or if I'm SOL. So....here's a soft warning that if you run into issues, UFDoll (at least in my experience so far) isn't very prompt at fixing issues or even responding to dealers/proxies to help you...

 

I recently received the UFdoll 1/3 body. I ordered via Superbuy. The tan skin is nice. Not a 100% identical tan to DF-H, but similar enough.

They strung her tight AF. I need to get longer elastics and a different S-hook to fit the head I am hybriding.

I am using the body for my IOS Aria (will be airbrushed to match)

Does anyone has reviews on the 75 bodies after owning it for a while? Do this body poses well? Reading this thread it seems like cracks can happen so I'm a bit nervous to order one.
I'd love to see the 75 body paired with any other head than it's default one! Also if anyone has the Cream color neck to Volks semi white I'd love to see the color comparison.

 

I've had mine since the end of June, and I fortunately haven't had any issues at all with cracking. Same for my 70cm boy. I've not been particularly delicate with them, so maybe just lucky? But it at least isn't inevitable, for what that's worth. The posing is pretty good, I at least have no complaints! I haven't been that demanding of him, granted, but he stands well and has held standard poses just fine. I find that for this head specifically there's not a great range of motion, but I did sort of expect that. (He specifically doesn't look down super well, but I have a ton of dolls like this, hybrid or otherwise, so it's more like a mild annoyance than a dealbreaker.) He's strung really tightly, as well, so it's hard to move his chest around, but again this is also true for me of my other 75cm boy. I just can't get a good grip on them to move them in the first place.

Here's a few pics of my 75cm body+ JRdoll Brad head! Both in Soom Normal. The match in the blank photos looks worse in the pictures than it does in real life, in real life my eyes at least can't really tell there's any difference at all.

Thank you so much for all the info and pictures it helps alot! The head motion isn't a dealbreaker for me neither I don't think I own a doll with enough mobility on head lmao! Also the color matching isn't that bad, may I also ask if he fits default Uncle 75 clothes?

Lol same, I have a lot that are limited in this way and he's no worse than they are.

He DOES fit default pants and shoes, but tops can be a problem--he's got huge... tracts of land. It's not unworkable, but he's got a few CM on the Idealian75s that are the model, so thus far I've been putting him in knit stuff (think tees, sweaters, etc). I have seen makers on Taobao though cater to this size specifically more and more (none I can think of at the moment but I've seen it as an option), since the body has been relatively popular in China as a cheaper option. Fitted stuff may or may not be such an issue? Honestly I just haven't experimented much yet. I ordered a few outfits for him that are waiting in the warehouse for me to ship them, so I can report back with more details then, too.

(Also thank you! I'm super obsessed with him! The weight difference between him and my other 75 on an Aolingshi body is no joke.)

My 1/5 body came today. I don't think it'll work for the hybrid plans I had (I was going to cut it up and use put it on a pair of mnf Erda dragon legs) BUT I'm not deterred. It fits the head pretty okay so I think I'll 3d print some digitigrade legs. The character is a kobold.

 

I am waiting for mine 1/4. They said that for orders made in November they will try to ship them the same month so I am really hopeful.

 

Just realized I never updated here. So, after around 2.5 months of no contact from UFDoll about getting me a replacement head and upper chest piece, I messaged Christina at NCS and was told that I would need to buy a whole new doll to get replacement parts (UFDoll was unwilling to pay shipping on the two pieces I needed, apparently.)

So my only real option was to take the 20% refund Christina offered and put that towards Milliput to fix him. Their smaller dolls are probably fine, but I'd be weary about their bigger dolls, especially the 75cm. You're not guaranteed to get a damaged doll, but IF something does arrive broken, UFDoll is NOT willing to send replacement parts and will leave you and your dealer ghosted for months. Definitely not buying from them again.

 

Yeah I have a 1/3 girl body from UF doll and it’s very fragile compared to resin. I had my doll get lost in the mail and Christina ordered me a new one that arrived super fast. But, imo, the 100 dollar price tag is about what I would pay for it. It’s a cute body, it poses well, and I love it for my hybrid with a peaks woods head but it’s already scratched from I don’t even know what and I had a piece on the alt bust break.

 

Yeah, I'm probably going to use this doll mostly for faceup and bodyblush practice in the long run (and the body I'll use as a temp for a hybrid) but I think I'll replace the body with an Ao Lingshi or Abidoll eventually. I regret not just getting an Ao Lingshi in the first place, tbh

 

Yeah I’m kinda in the same boat, I wish I just got a coral reef body I had originally wanted and wasn’t so cheap. Oh well though, it’s a lesson learned.

 

I still have no news from UF Doll but maybeit will be a few months wait. But Idefinitely saw the message that if i buy it in November it's gonna get posted in November. Luckily the doll was super cheap.

Got a UF doll 75cm, just be aware that you can't remove the faceup with acetone or brush cleaner cuz the ABS, unlike resin, will melt. Just use alcohol.
The random head may have certain flaws like black dots or fallen magnets, and the material is going to be quite thin.

By any chance, has anyone recently received the 1/4th bodies from the preorders earlier this year? Apparently, the head and jointed hands I ordered came out (waiting for them to be shipped,) but the body is delayed!

 

I'm not sure which body you're referring to exactly. If it was the XioaKa order tho, I did receive mine a few weeks back
