two giants of atelier macabre

rising from the dead to say that i've started on vegeta's arms and working on the molding for venus' head - have the frontal faceplate test casted and just need to get more silicone to finish up the back part mold.

i'm going to take pictures tomorrow (i know, i've said that line before - but this time i will! )

 

i had more pictures, but um.... i kinda had my camera on the wrong setting and they ended up very dark....

but these couple shots of venus' uncleaned up faceplate ended up kinda cool, so i thought i'd share at least these.

as you can see, i didn't get the mold to follow her lines perfectly so i'll be cutting back on her cheeks.... and the mold wasn't very clean or perfect.... she also ended up with an airbubble on the very tip of her nose which filled with resin (of course) - so that'll have to be sanded down..... :pout

but i think it's kinda cool nonetheless.

i also found out a museum near us has a replica of the venus de milo that i can visit to study for my girl as she's becoming a reinterpretation of the beautiful statue.

oh, and guess what! vegeta has arms! and more muscles on his legs.... they're still very rough, but i'm happy with how he's coming along.... i'm on hold though until have money to buy more clay - this boy take a lot of it! of course, now his head looks too small

look - he even has a tube-tail! looks just like a tail, huh? and little midget hands and feet! (they're just the rough starts of them - no where near the size they'll end up)


the arms - part of me likes the exaggerated state of them, and part of me wants to really smooth them out when i sand them....


this was the best shot i could get of the start of the musculature of the legs... but i think i need to do more definition on them to match the arms. (btw - that's the BACK of his leg)

 

um.... he weighs.... A LOT. i joke that if any one tries to break into our apartment i'll just beat them with one of his legs - it's like a club :dead

and he's going to be roughly half scale.... and i think i can get him into resin too when i'm done.... which may or may not lessen his weight (right now he's very thick because i stupidly made my cores too small )

and the truth is - i'm planning a couple of even BIGGER dolls in the future (ie. several years from now when i finish them - but they are going to be a trio of awesome when i complete them)
