Two-tone Slippers for 80 cm Dollmore’s Lusion Dahlia

Note: This pattern is a modified version of a free Ravelry pattern “Non-felted Slippers” by Yuko Nakamura. The modified pattern for Lusion Dahlia includes a wider sole and a bigger slipper opening to accommodate her very high instep. Dahlia’s foot is about 4.5 inches long and 2 inches at the widest.

This pattern uses short rows and 4 types of decreases: k2 tog., k3 tog., sl1, k1, PSSO, and sl1, k2tog, PSSO.

U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm) needles and 2 colors of sock yarn
Note: Shorter knitting needles might be more convenient than longer ones.

Gauge: 7 sts/inch 10 rows/inch

Sole:
Cast on 52 sts. K 3 rows, placing a marker in the middle of work (26 sts each side of marker) on the third row.
Note: Placing a safety pin on one side of your work might help keep track of the increase rows.
Next row (wrong side): K1, incr in next st, k to 2 sts before marker, incr in next st, k1, slip marker, k1, incr in next st, k to 2 sts before end of row, incr in next st, k1. (56 sts)
K1 row.
Repeat the last 2 rows 5 times until there are 76 sts total, ending with a wrong side row.
Next row: K1, incr in next st, k to 2 sts before marker, incr in next st, k1, incr in next 2 sts, k to 2 sts before end of row, incr in next st, k1. (81 sts)
Cut yarn. Attach second color.

Instep:
K1 row.
Next row: P36, place marker (PM), p9, PM, P36.
Next row: K to 7 sts before marker, k2 tog twice, k3 tog, k9, sl1, k2 tog, PSSO, sl1, k1, PSSO twice, k to end.
P1 row.
Repeat last 2 rows once. (65 sts)
Next row: K to second marker (37 sts), sl1, k1, PSSO. TURN.
Sl1 as if to p, p9, p2 tog. TURN
Sl1 as if to p, k9, sl1, k1, PSSO, TURN
Sl1 as if to p, p9, p2 tog, TURN
Repeat the last 2 rows until there are 53 sts total after a p2 tog. TURN
Sl1 as if to p, k9, sl1, k1, PSSO, WITHOUT TURNING, k22 to end of the work. (52 sts)
Next row: P30, p2 tog, p20, removing markers as you work. (51 sts)
Cut yarn.
Attach first color. K3 rows. Bind off in k st.
Sew sole and heel seams. Weave in ends.
