Twigling Minigenue Discussion Thread

While I dont have one yet (near the top of my wish list though) I want to say thank you for showing her by a dollshe boy! I was curious of how she would blend with more mature minis.

 

Having seen two of the Miningenues in person on Wednesday, I can confirm they are lovely. Great to see them holding a pose on one leg with the other leg in the air. I also really like the articulated forefoot (as in, the toes aren't individually articulated, but you can move all the toes up or down as a unit, if that makes sense- it adds that bit of extra expressiveness!)

 

I am waiting for a pastel violet Minigenue... I couldn't resist the dreaming ingenue any longer and I have to admit I prefer msd dolls...

The unique violet are lovely, I wonder how they compare to the pastel violet ones...

 

I seen pictures of them and I wanna add one or two for my sci-fi cast I have ahaha. I just love how realistic stylize their faces are

 

Forgive me, I'm having trouble finding the official info about the pre-order details -- were there choices about body type, as with the big Ingenue girls?

(Yours looks like long torso/shorter legs to me, if I'm spotting her right.)

LOVE that resin color, and the cowhide shield looks fabulous, perfect for a lady warrior. I can't wait to see her with the face-up and tattoos you have planned!

Yeah, crossing my fingers that it will be practical to offer different torso/leg/hand options in future, plus more headsculpts! I'm really hoping for a mini-Gamine, but at the moment it's trailing in the fan poll for which should be offered next (current leader is Pietá).

 

I love them all ahaha, my only slight dislike is how knock knees they look from the front, but it nice too because it gives more diversity for the mature side of minis.

I finally got around to making my girl a wig; it's not fully fleshed out in the middle yet (need more braids, I only had 80 pre-done), but when I keep it braided like this it works nonetheless. For once I may try my hand at her face-up myself, as all my fave artists either don't work on dolls this dark or have super long wait times.

 

I am soooo gutted that I missed the ordering for these mini Twigling creations...and I hope that I manage to order the next mini casts which Reese decidedes to do. Meanwhile I am really happy to see everyone elses great pictures, keep them coming !!!

 

Aww, thank you! It's actually gonna be braided most of the time anyway, but I want the braid thicker too, which I'll get by finishing it at the top. When I have the time to braid that is :P

I tried painting one of my other dolls again now, and it went badly, so I may have to find someone after all. Can I ask who's painting yours?

Ahaha, we'll try to keep the pictures coming indeed. Soon the rest of the Miningenues should start arriving, so then there'll hopefully be more people posting too

Yeah, I'm thinking so too! And at least a year ago she used a different sealant than MSC for very dark resin, so one avoids frosting.

She looks gorgeous! I love the colours in this photo, they're so warm and rich. And those fiery eyes look beautiful against her skintone.

Wow, that wig is stunning! - I'd imagine it took a while to make. What kind of material is it made from?
And more gorgeous orange eyes against the dark skin; definitely a striking combination.

I hear both of you about faceups on dark coloured skin; I'm waiting on a Minigenue in the black resin and I don't quite know how to approach doing her faceup. It all depends on how well Games Workshop Purity Seal sealant works against the black resin.
Heck, I might just decide keep her blank since the sculpt looks gorgeous as is.

 

Ahh, thank you so much The braids took quite a while when I did make them yes (I usually can make about 20 braids an hour, but these gradient ones take about twice as long), but I've had them laying around for about a year. I originally braided them for an Oakbottom Beechkiss I had on pre-order, but then there were complications and that doll couldn't be cast, so I saved them for any future doll. They're made from alpaca fibre.

I've used Purity Seal on super dark dolls with good results, so unless they've changed the formula it works great. Doesn't whiten or cloud at all. I'm just really crap at face-ups, so even though I own the materials I can't paint her as well as I'd prefer. The sculpt does look amazing as is though, and I myself want a rather simple face-up for mine. But I want her to have one at least :P

Can anyone please tell me the under bust measurement on their Minigenue, please? Like the bra strap measurement...

Oh, awesome, thank you so much! Any chance you could also measure the rise of her nipple? That is, the height from the bra strap to the point of the nipple. I didn't realize that my seamstress needed that as well. ^_^;

My girl should be home in a few weeks (she was just shipped from Haru to Twigling last week) and I'm trying to get some clothes ready for her. ^_^

 

No prob. 1,8cm You mean from the strap underneath her breasts, not the ones holding the bra onto her shoulders, right?

I had quite a bit of trouble with her hips and knees until I sueded her, now she holds poses great.

aha! was gonna ask how you got her to stand at ease - mine arrived mid-week and seems to be hung up on practicing her yoga tree pose. ^^

Yeah, I couldn't even get mine to stand when leaning against something, her legs would buckle. I barely got the comparison picture with the aGatti before she crumpled. ^^;

I sueded every socket large enough to accommodate it with leather, and others with hot glue.

I also added a hot glue ridge to the backs of her knee peanuts to act as a lock. I'm not sure it was necessary, but her legs do stay straight now.

 

oh wow. that's a lot of sueding. the knee joint did look like it could use more grip. I was wondering about adding epoxy notches - sounds like hot glue ridge is a great and better idea! thanks for sharing your method! this is going to be fun learning for me

@Lucilia ... Absolute pure Joy!!!! These pics are wonderful to see, the poses are great. Plus the wig choices really suit her. Can I ask about the long straight one with horns? How are the horns affixed to the wig / headband ?

There's a doll meet this weekend, so I decided to make Agni (which I've decided is short for Agnetha) some quickie clothes. She'll probably have a more extravagant style than this eventually, but it works for the weekend. Also tried my hand at late night photography; I still need some practice, but I think the ambience suits her.

I too got a black resin Minigenue! They're so amazingly gorgeous, I couldn't leave her behind.

 

Hi there! Does anyone here have any information about the future of Minigenue? Next pre-sale or if there will be extra parts to choose from? I have the big Ingenieuse and would just love to get her in the msd-size. But I'd love the doll to have as long legs as the big girls have as I know that Minigenue currently has shorter legs. Anyone know why is that? There must be a reason for it, but what?

 

Twigling was going for a more realistic proportion with the shorter legs, if I remember correctly from her Facebook posts during the making of Minigenue. I have not heard her mention any other options like the big girls have. Next up for the minis is more face plates--Pieta is the leading vote for the next one, with Elbe not terribly far behind. She's also mentioned a couple times that the next preorder will be opening very soon.

 

@Raesha Thank you for the info! Better keep my eyes open then for the next preorder. Oh, that was the reason for the short legs?!? And I've been thinking that the proportions looks more balanced with the long legs. I just feel the body looks more graceful with longer legs as it's quite bottom heavy and the tallness short of balanced it all. Might just be my own thinking as I'm tall myself and live with even taller man and we both have super long legs ourselves. So that's what I'm used to. I love the body anyway but if I could choose, I'd rather have the doll taller with longer legs. I don't need it to be certain height and over 45 cm would be fine by me. Well, just have to wait and see if the mini version will have the same option parts as her big sisters have.

 

Can anyone help me out? I got my Minigenue girl but I'm having difficulties clothing her what have you guys been getting for your girls? is she an SD bottom?

 

She certainly doesn't use SD bottoms no... Stretchy mini-sized tights generally fit, especially if they're more regular MSD size than slim mini (though slim mini ones fir if they're stretchy enough). Otherwise I've been making my girl clothes herself so I can't help with tops.

Yeah, mine also has 10mm eyes

 

And may I ask wich brand/kind of eyes are them?

I am afraid of 12mm don't fitting her eye sockets.
