Trouble with Indie Sculptor...

Sep 19, 2025

    1. So I bought a doll back in january (not here, paid through paypal invoice though) that still hasn't been delivered. And don't get me wrong, I've waited I think up to two years for a doll before. However, the artist had said things that lead me to believe the dolls were produced and just needed to be shipped. So back in May I asked if they knew when the dolls would be shipped. They said they were getting them shipped currently. Fast forward to this Monday, September 15th, I still haven't heard anything about my doll so I asked the artist again, do you have an update on my doll? They said they're getting them shipped currently, but they need my email to check my order. I gave them my email, no response. So Yesterday, I asked, Hello were you able to find my order? No response yet...I keep telling the seller I don't mind waiting or setbacks as long as they are clearly communicated to me. But they are being very dodgy about answering my questions.

It makes me sad and anxious because my loved ones scraped together the money to get this doll for me and I hate to think that I might have thrown their money away. I don't know what to do. Should I do anything? Do I just need to be more patient?

    2. These kind of situations happen in the hobby now and then but they are in no way the right or okay way for things to go. Since you're out of the PayPal buyer protection window by now, the best thing you can do is keep checking in with the maker at least weekly. You have absolutely been patient enough, if not for too long - your doll has been paid for and long due with too little communication so you have every right to inquire about it as often and as many time as needed until the problem gets solved. I know it's easy to feel like you're bothering them or being too pushy if it's just one artist running things, but they are running a business should be able to go about it professionally.

You can additionally check for waiting rooms, threads or feedback for the maker on DoA or other communities to see if it's common with them and if other people are in the same boat as you. It always helps to have more heads together in such situations!

I hope all goes well and you get your doll soon! But if communication is still spotty and things don't get moving, please keep checking in on them regularly.

    3. If you paid with credit card through PayPal, I would let the seller know that if there is no response or indication of the doll being produced/shipped by a certain date, you will need to take steps with your bank for a refund.

While you were patient with the doll that took 2 years, I also think that was too long to deliver as well. I feel like a lot of people are usually forgiving and understanding, but in the past few years, the hobby has experienced a rather large influx of unreliable artists who have scammed the community. It is almost always too late for people to get their money back due to how long people waited to speak up.

I think you've been more than patient, and to be honest, this type of transaction would sour me on the doll if I were to receive it because it would always remind me of this very unpleasant transaction.

    4. Would this be wanderlustdoll.com?

    5. @sirotterpop - It would be good to know which brand we're talking about as only On Topic dolls can be discussed on the forum.

If it is Wanderlust, as mentioned above, I don't think they've made any dolls that meet the Criteria for Doll Inclusion
