    1. Super cool!

    2. Philip looks really adorable all done up.

    3. And the kids have just gone up for PO. $760 sans PP fees. Ouch! But, if you are determined, they are here.

      Order Philip

    4. Oh! The sister's smiling face is just my sort of sculpt... but no. No dolly spending at the moment.

      Teddy

    5. LOL. Go on, Teddy! I am getting Philip and we could get them together at a meet.

    6. If only available funds would allow it!

      Teddy
(I booked for the last meet then missed it due to the stinking cold I picked up over Christmas)

    7. I didn't make it either, due to the winter mehs. Hopefully Feb.

It is a lot of money, but Russian dolls can be. It isn't because they are more expensive to make over there, as some Russian artists who get theirs cast at the same place (StarDoll) sell them for reasonably prices (eg aGatti). However, it might be a product of how dolls are viewed in Russia. So, time to decide whether I can really splash that kind of cash without hating the thing when it comes in. It has happened before and I have sold an over-priced doll as soon as it came in, as the only thing I could think of when I looked at it was the huge pile of bank notes it cost. So, it is decision time.

    8. Good luck with the decision.

I'm lucky - once the payment is made I pretty much forget how much it was. Usually before the doll arrives, especially if there's a long wait between paying and shipping.

      Teddy

    9. I love my cats and these children are similar in size to the Dollshe children. But your comment MadamMauMau, about waiting and when the dolls arrive - no longer wishing them has just happened to me with the Dollshe children. Now I am trying to be more thoughtful about "Oh, I want that" purchases. :ablink:

    10. Awesome thread! Her creations are simply awesome! I could never hope to get one but at least i could admire photos:)

    11. I like the dollshe children a lot, and the fashion-sizerd versions too (allthough that size of doll never seems stay with me).

      Teddy

    12. And I did it. I got a Philip and what a cutey! I have such plans for him! I have been down with a lurgy for weeks and got fed up of waiting to feel better to have a go, so did a rough wig and started a faceup. Both will change once I have a thinking head on. But have a photo for now, in celebration of his arrival.

    13. Theodore is amazing, Mau! :aheartbea He looks so real to me.

    14. It is a wonderful sculpt. I am going to get to work with some texturing and build up that faceup a bit and hopefully do him full justice.

      Now to find clothes...

    15. @MadamMauMau Ah, Phillip looks so sad but so handsome. I love his wig and clothes. Did you make the wig for him? Great photo too. :thumbup

    16. @MadamMauMau Philip is gorgeous! Congratulations! Looking forward for his new pictures!

    17. @jo1961 I did make the wig. It didn't turn out as I wanted, as my head is rather swimming with fever, but it covers his head and I have enough fibre to do it again. The clothes are opportunistic finds from my action figure and Chicline clothes boxes. I will need to invest some time finding him proper stuff.

@Lino4ka Thank you. I am very pleased with my little Theodore.

    18. Oh he is just adorable!

    19. Just started watching this thread - really love these sculpts; they're so unique and expressive. The Sphinx is definitely going on my wishlist. Does anyone know if it's likely to be released again?

Edit: Oh, it's open for order now. Not sure I can justify buying it at the moment though. Here's hoping it will still be available for a while.

    20. My Sphinx arrived today and I could not be more over the moon. She's gorgeous!
She's strung so tight, it's hard to pose her, so I'll restring her once I go out and get some new elastic.

    21. @CydaLuva83 Your Sphinx is truly lovely. I love these little dolls.

    22. Gorgeous

      Teddy

    23. She is gorgeous! Has she told you her name yet?

    24. I love her face up

    25. Thanks guys! I don't know her name yet, but I hope it'll come to me while I make a dress for her. She's so delicate, maybe something to match that.

    26. She is beautiful.

I found the tight stringing really helped with posing (once you have overcome the terror of a doll strung so tightly you fear it might snap. Only it won't, as he elastic isn't that strong and thick). They pose like action figures. You might find she becomes too floppy to stand steadily if you loosen it, but I would be interested to hear about your experiences.

Theodore, My Philip, is still waiting on my organising clothes for him (It's been a rather hectic time of late). I have so many photo ideas for him and I will get down to it, now that things are calming down a bit. In the meantime, he sits by the side of my laptop, looking serious.

    27. I have been having real trouble finding eyes that suit Theodore. He needs 8/4mm and that is a surprisingly difficult size to find. So, I ended up taking a deep breath and making some. They aren't perfect, but near enough what I need to encourage me to have another go. Next lot will be a bit darker.

Did anyone else get either of the children? I haven't seen many of them around. They really are very, very sweet.

    28. They look great, Max.

      Teddy

    29. Thanks, hun. I am moving oh so slowly with him and customising him is proving to be the twelve labours of Hercules. At least he now has The Wig, he will shortly have The Eyes and next he will have The Clothes. Any ideas for 1940s stuff in 1:3 child scale, so 39ish cm?

    30. If I spot any, I'll let you know, button shirts (short or long sleeve - depending, presumably, on occasion and season) with shorts would be the most typical style worn by young boys then but modern shorts are different - they'd be proper shorts with waistbands and flies and pockets. You could try Matt O'Neill suit-trousers and cutting them down and hemming them to the right length if they fit OK in the waist and bum... Matt shirts might work too.

Long trousers were also worn, but mostly by older boys, and again they'd be very "baggy" by today's standards. Knitted jumpers or tank tops were worn over the shirts, if jackets were worn they were suit-style and usually matched the shorts, knee-briches (considered old-fashioned and prissy by the 40's), or trousers (again, a Matt O'Neill suit might be the best bet to be adapted)

      Teddy

    31. See, @Teddy, I knew you would be the go to for this! I have been looking at photos and have some of it covered. I have an Argyll tank top and he just about fits into an action figure suit, which I am going to turn into his school uniform (don't worry. Waistband, flies and pockets on the shorts). I need shirt and can't find any that meet my exacting standards. Also, socks and shoes. And maybe a gas mask case...

    32. My mum's gas-mask case, when she was evacuated from London, was a cardboard box with a string shoulder-strap:
      http://www.appletreelane1940shop.uk/ekmps/shops/62742e/images/gas-mask-box-[2]-363-p.jpg

She and her sisters stuffed all sorts of other stuff into their box, tucked-in around the gas masks, so if they'd needed to use them durign the journey, they'd have scattered small belongings all over the place in the process of taking them out of the boxes.

      Teddy

    33. Yes, I think my father had the same, only he was in Brighton so, in spite of being bombed to blazes, no evacuations. I think it is partly his childhood that is inspiring this character, although he was older than Theo at the time. Shame he is no longer around to ask about it.

    34. My mother and her sisters were evacuated several times (my grandmother kept changing her mind and going to collect them and bringing them back to London). She had lots of stories about the places they went and what it was like in London during the war (including the time she came out of the shelter when the All-Clear sounded, ran down the street and into the next shelter to find everybody in there dead due to the shockwave going through it when the building next door was hit. Some of them still had plauing cards in their hands and cigarettes in their mouths, she said).

      Teddy

    35. Jeez. That is terrible. My father told of how he was hit by shrapnel from one of the bombs and nearly lost his leg. He recuperated in a hospital where there were GIs who taught him to play pool and smoke. He was 12.

Largely because of the stories my father has told me, I have a real fascination with the Home Front. I have four 1940s-themed characters, three of whom are still in the process of being styled. So much work to do!

    36. They'll make a great group when they're all done though.

      Teddy

    37. Unfortunately, they don't all go together, seeing as I abandoned my scale obsession for the sake of getting some nice dollies. Two will; my mini Dollshe boys. I might use some Photoshop magic to make Theo fit with them for some shots. Could be interesting.

    38. He is lovely and I'm impressed with your eye making skills! I wasn't in the hobby when the children were released, but I wish I had been able to order Lolita. I'm keeping my beady eye on the latest doll Tatyana has been working on at the moment.

Edit: Or perhaps it is still possible to order Lolita and I'm an idiot, lol!

    39. Lolita is still available, as far as I'm aware. Go for it! They are lovely things.

    40. They really are. I think she will be my next order, but I only just bought my first doll (any my partner has ordered me another for Christmas), so I will have to wait, save a while and hope she stays available. Just wish she could also come with a slightly more mature body - I see her as being a teenager/young adult rather than a 'child child'!

    41. I am still slowly gathering stuff for Theo, my Phillip. My daughters bought me a toy box for him and I am filling it with little lead figures and a drum and all the things I can make or find. He is one lucky little boy! Hopefully, I will be able to get down to some proper photo taking soon. In the meantime, have a photo of him from a meet a few months back.

    42. WOW he looks so real!! you can practically see him breathing.

    43. @MadamMauMau - Your wonderful photos make all your dolls look as if they are about to breathe or move.

    44. Mau, Theo is looking really good. :D More photos! More photos!

    45. Thank you all. I am having a great deal of fun with him.

And I took a "proper" photo. Theo takes his Vorpal sword in hand and goes in search of the manxome foe.

    46. He is so realistic and just perfect as wel as your photography. my first thought was a young Ron Weasley [love that actor] I found myself wanting the older boys/men to accompany my girls. I had a box of cowboys & Indian lead figures somewhere in the garage, didn't think of them as diorama but now, hm, excellent idea,

    47. Ha! He has many referents (Oskar from Tin Drum, Little Neemo, Max and Mickey from the Sendak stories), but never thought of Ron Weasely. I nabbed some 1930s-1940s lead farm figures for Theo at a car boot sale a while back. He is gathering quite a collection of toys. I must photograph him with some of them soon.

    48. she is soooo beautiful i love her clothes

    49. uyukkum, Thank you so much! :aheartbea I really do need to photograph her more. She is dressed in the cutest little ballet dress right now.

    50. He is So cool!!! I like it!

    51. Hi all! I have recently stumbled across this amazing artist and have fallen in love with Utari. Does anyone have her or one of the resin girls that could take photos of them against another MSD? I'm really interested in their size. Triffony Artwork resin girls look quite small and i can't seem to find any photos with them and another MSD. Any help would be much appreciated.
      Thank you!!!!!!

    52. Me too. They are spectacular. Or even just the toothy kitties. :3nodding: The one in resin is sorta a content kitty smile. Triffony's work is really top notch.

I love this doll! Congrats to you!

Does anyone know if there is a size difference between the original release and the 2016 release? I keep hearing rumors of a third release but smaller?

Does your girl have a markers mark?

    53. I have not looked since I purchased her directly from TiffonyArtwork.

    54. Triffony's cats remain one of my favorite bjd designs :3nodding: When hunting around for a bjd for my hairless cat character, Triffony's work obviously came up and I was in love for a long time. Now I've been searching for alternatives after accepting that her price point will probably never be reachable for me, but I really like that for others its something so special and well made that exists. For a long time I was told by everyone near me that both dolls and sphynx cats were "ugly" but it's encouraged me to see others that find their appearance so beautiful in their unique way ♥
