Mini Training Camp

Jan 12, 2026

    1. All knights were expected to continue training to keep up their skills....

One of the training exercises for a Medieval knight to build up strength and endurance, was running - in full armour. It was heavy and unwieldy, but that was the whole point.

They also had to move rocks,,,

      ...practice their archery skills....

...and chop wood, while in full armour...

      It was exhausting work....

    4. I love you big photos shoots like this, they are always epic.

    5. Thank you so much for sharing this photoset with us. I loved looking at all the little details.

    6. Gorgeous - I especially like the detail of the tentage in the background.

    7. @Seafoam Shade - Thank you! It took some effort, but I was very happy with the results.
@rosehollow - Thank you so much!
      @Tippetarius - Thank you!
@Viridiansummer - Thanks. The details are always what makes the scene.
@Teddy - Thanks! I made those tents for a Medieval photo story in the Rockies and across Canada a few years ago, and they come in handy for other scenes as well.

I had to wait until the garden was cleaned up for winter before I could set up the scene. The tents and knights in the background were posed in the raised garden, and everything else on the table in the grass, using a few surviving plants as shrubs....

I also made use of a raised stone garden at one corner of a local intersection after all the plants had been removed for the winter....

    8. Oh wow great pictures! I love their clothes, armour and all the background details.

    9. I think that was you at the end of the day! The work you do, fed by your passion, does look exhausting, but the results - so worth it!
I've complained about the mud of the season as a reason to not go outdoors for photography, but that doesn't stop you!
Wonderful in every way, Thank you @MB Lilac! So delightful!! :goldstar:goldstar:goldstar:goldstar:goldstar

    10. @Arucane - Thank you!

@Valdemagra - Yes, it is exhausting, but if I want good photos I have to put in the effort, and a lot depends on the season and the weather. I won't go out in rain or mud, and prefer not to take photos at midday in full sun either.

    15. Thank you! Yes, it does take a while to gather everything and then set it all up. But then you get out of it what you put into it.

    16. I agree!!! I love seeing how it is done. Martha's behind the scenes photos are like little photography lessons.

    17. Thanks! I try remember to take Behind the Scenes photos, since people seem to like them even more than the photos themselves.

    18. For me, it's as-much-as, rather than even-more-than. I like seeing what goes into creating the marvelous scenes you depict. All the work I wouldn't have the patience to do myself.
