To those who are planning/working on making a BJD...

Oct 20, 2004

    1. What kinda of project are you working on? ^^ I mean, in comparison to other dolls.

Myself, I'm making a doll that is to the DD what Sweet/Petite Ai is to the 60cm dolls. ^.^ I'm working on a Chibi Dollfie Dream! XDXD

(rough sketch done in History class... I reall should study... but... the teacher is so annoying... XD)

Anyhoo, yeah. ^^ I plan on making a 'rough draft' out of Crayola Model Magic to figure out how it's going to work.

I'm set on making her hands a ball itself with little fingers ^^ CHUBBY CUTENESS. I'm also planning to make her head and eyes big enough that she can have the smallest Animetic Eye size, since I'm aiming for a Chibi DD... of course, that may look a little TOO weird... so in the end, she may end up with a head similar to the DD option head #01 without the eyes punched out, so I'd paint little anime eyes on a garage-kit styled head.

So, Anyhoo, what are ya'll working on? Got any sketches or plans?

xD Sorry I'm being nosy... I'm just sssoooo curious!

    2. *melts* CUUUUUTE!

I'm putting together a doll fashion show. Where the models are gods, demons, humans, and concepts. In the end. As for details, well, I've spilled the beans about just about every aspect of my project in my posts on this board already. ^^'

    3. I'm already smitten. And you have fabulous drawing skeels. *skills*
I always come up with the best ideas in some sort of class. :daisy

    4. Fishies on this topic:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=969

had rather a lot of trouble with the Crayola sculpting material.

May I suggest an overn-bake clay (such as Super Sculpy) or paper clay material (LaDoll or regular ol' papier mache)?

At least check out what fishies had to say & make your own determination.

    5. Oh, no. I'm just going to sculpt a bit with the Crayola magic to get the hang of it and figure out how to make some of the parts.

^^; Believe me, my final version wont be made of that. It's just a material I love working with and it's easy to cut and glue together, to help me figure out exactly how I want to go about doing things.

The actuall doll itself I'm sculpting from Super Sculpey and casting/molding with products from Alumilite.

    6. That's so cute! :chibi

Mine is a child, think the age range of 3-6 years old, sort of an asexual body even though I think of it as a girl. My doll is about 15 inches tall, a little smaller than a MSD. Almost ready to pour the first molds, then I'll attempt to fix any joint issues at that stage.

Its body parts are in my fridge! *_*

    7. Yeah, model magic is fun and I like how it um, squishes, for lack of a better word. I just shouldn't of made a finished doll out of it. I had to add more stuff over the limbs because they were tearing.
But it does take paint and glue really well. It's great for other things that don't need to be hollow yet sturdy. I might keep making practice heads out of it.
And the smell. The SMELL! (Well, okay, it wasn't that bad. But still not nice)

The chibi doll is so cute! Huge head and tiny round hands, adorable! :chibi

    8. WOOOT! I got body parts in my fridge! :o I just finished up the main sculpting on my doll this evening. Just have to make the molds, then I'll clean up the first casting and remake the mold. I think thats the easiest way to get the booboo's out. I'll do some photos when I get my first casting done, this gray clay just makes it look too weird.

    9. At the moment I'm working on an alternate MSD body - a little more mature, and without the waist joint. The head is a cloned MSD head (no, I didn't do the cloning - some naughty person on ebay did).

    10. I just realized I didn't really answer your question.

The dolls are meant to be, say older SDs (so in the same "world" as SD13s). Like SD23s, or so :) Taller and slender, most likely :)

    11. Meow! Very happy you have come so far! :D

    12. MSD that's more mature, i'd like to see. I don't like them to be as much how they are, I would rather mini SD, not small children SD if it is making sense to anyone? XD

      Post pictured maybe? ^^

    13. Might your doll be the covergirl for the "Original BJDs" Yahoo! Group?

I'm floored. May I ask what she's made of and how you went about it?

      Thanks!

    14. That's Emily. She's finished now. She's made of wood (soft grainless pine) and automotive body filler. How? I took a genuine one out to use as reference (i.e. having a genuine volks doll near-by to look at) and went at it with a spoke-shave and a small "dremel" style rotary too.

    15. Wow! That is looked so good!

      :D

Very good job of it. ^-^

    16. Wow! Never thought of making a wooden one!

She's so well made and cute! <3

    17. You got talent girl
