    2. I've been meaning to ask this for a while, but how do we change the stringing system?
I think someone might of mentioned it in the older threads o3o
When I went to a meet last month, someone told me that I could probably put in a donunt in his neck or something :S
I'm meaning how Lelei can pull her dolls head in the Taking off headcap post?
Could somone please enlighten me? o.o

    3. I've seen these donuts you speak of but i can't remember where or who sells them. I went looking for you but i couldn't remember. Though I am also curious if the donut is the answer to this as well.

    4. Hope I didn't misunderstand your meaning of "stringing system"....><
but this is what I have done to my girls :D

(I don't know how the donut looks like)
That red disk is cut out from a bottle cap
it looks more or less like the LUTS neck part
though I don't know what is this neck use for........
This red disk helps to hold the S-hook and eases the opening of head cap~~

    5. I have the Luts nonut neckpart inside some of my BF's heads. :3 It does fit in their heads ok and makes moving the head a bit easier. Also, I've used a rubber band like hanapui has done too, to "string" the headcap to S-hook.

    6. Maybe BF are going to release right at the end of April..and be like teehee still April :XD: lol @__@;;;

I was talking to my friend and we were thinking like it is BlueFairy completing the WS orders? D:
So maybe that will delay them for some while =A=

hanapui- Thanks so much for that photo!
Yeh, that's what I meant XD
I wasn't really sure what to call it.
Is it easy to lift the cap of the head? ^^

xaya- Ahh I see~ Got to try it for my doll now +_+

    7. I might have to try putting something in Hazel's head... with the headcap attached to the S hook it's kind of difficult to get her head open (I have the hang of it now but it's still a bit tough), but if I just leave the s hook in the head and attach the cap with a rubber band it severely limits the range of motion in her head posing. So the plasti or bottlecap lifts the s hook up enough that the neck poses as if the hook were on the headcap?

Or am I tired and reading things wrong?

    8. Tomato arrived with a donut piece like that on her, is that not a standard piece?
What does the rubberband do? Makes it easier to open up the headcap or something? (got fingers sore from pulling the S-hook.

Yay! Thread! I have been missing it!

    9. limedragon>>Of course it is easier! Because the S-hook is not connected to the head cap and that's why I tided arubber band there(to hold it). I have also used some whitetack to fix the head cap (or else it will drop....)

I don't how to sew tooooo! I always have some designs of the outfits I want to make for my girls. But when I have finished that outfit, it didn't look very nice IRL, luckily it looked quite perfect in photos xDD

    10. Umm, none of my BF's had any donut neckpieces inside when they came. ^^ And yes, rubber band is for easier opening for the head, when you string the headcap with the rb to the s-hook and let the s-hook lie on the neckpiece it is not killing my fingers anymore.

I wonder if the molds that are not standard anymore, like Jerome, Tommy, Emilie and Niky, are they still going be in the optional parts? :/ I really hope they will. Still I want the last three in that list someday. And I still stalk those few WWN Emilie's there. Agh! I so much wish I would have the finances to buy her. First I didn't get too exited about the face up but ... you can always commission an artist? And change wig and eyes. *sigh* I see my chances with ws Emilie is lost.

    11. Ahhh, new thread, guess they weren't able to find 2? XD

So... some of you already saw this on my flickr, but for whoever it was that asked for a pic of hand-holding:

Another photo from a different angle. I think it looks cute but it is definitely harder to pose. :sweat

      • x 1
    12. Nereina > Thank you! That makes me feel better about picspamming them all the time~ :XD:

hobbywhelmed > Yeah, I posted to the technical problems thread cause I couldn't find it--thought I might be going crazy or something, but they couldn't find it either. <_<

PsychoticElflet5 > The second pic was definitely easier to pose since they're spread out. They're great just for having clasped hands on one doll though, and I'm sure I'll find many more uses for it! I doubt you'd regret getting a pair. ;) And thank you~ <3 I think it's always worth waiting longer for the doll you really want. I almost got a Kyle girl in NS because I really wanted a sleepy-eyed BF, but I'm glad I waited until they released May Valentine. I like keeping my collection all in white skin. :)

Also, here are the fist hands in the milky white:

AR doesn't have them in stock for rosy white, so I will have to make do with these, I suppose. They look okay as long as they are under sleeves.

Edit: Thanks Gina, even if it can't be found, it was only 10 pages ("only" compared to pt1...) and I just wanted somewhere to talk about them.

    13. Oh my gosh, I just saw these on the Noix de Rome site (they are from March):

      [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

May's outfit is so cute and fluffy! :XD: One of the Somang's is on Y!J but of course she's like wickedcrazyexpensive. D:

    14. Some high heels are made to be worn by dolls without a heel-style foot, for example the MNF can wear Dale Rae heels. However, judging from the size of Fimara's feet... I'm not sure if she can wear heels. XD

    15. [IMG]

      Rylan spammage~ :kitty2

I can't believe we're onto Part III of our discussion thread. >>; That's insane!

    16. spindlewood-- *shakes head* Not nearly. Well, I still need to change out her eyes (I never liked the green she came with, and she's supposed to have blue anyway), but here's one of the quick photos I snapped off yesterday.

I don't like the lighting on the comparison photos I took just now, so I'm going to have to redo them when I have better lighting and get them posted. :)

    17. Congrats PsychoticElflet5~

      Olive love~~~

I found a May-like wig in one of my boxes and couldn't resist...

    18. A photo of Charlotte I took for a contest... :whee:

    19. Lelei, it's gorgeous!! I love it <3

      Here's my may and friend's V.May:

    20. <.< Question for everyone here:
Anyone has a Kid Delf? I was wondering if the TF would fit a on KDF body. I really like the MNF body but from pictures it look like the girl proportion would be really weird if I try. Thanks in advance!

    21. My friend has a kid delf girl and a TF girl, may be I can ask her to try it for you, navci~

I remembered some one asked about separating fingers some time ago(??) And I have tried today and it is quite easy to do so. I made a teaching in my blog, anyone interested can have a look >w< (actually I am not dare to open a tread here as I don't know if anyone has posted before....)

      Separating Fingers

    22. UGH. What is this GUNK they put in the heads to hold the eyes in? Is this seriously clay? I'm only halfway through getting it out and the hell if I'm going to go through this a second time the next time I need to change her eyes! Her headcap is staying off and I'm gonna buy some kneaded eraser today instead, and try that elastic band trick. Getting her headcap off is really hard. I feel bad, because I only took a few photos before I decided to give changing her eyes a go, but it'll have to wait. XP This is nuts. Lol She'll look better in her blue(-green) eyes anyhow. :)

Can anyone tell me exactly how y'all did that elastic band trick with the S-hook? How did you tie it to each piece, I mean. My girl didn't come with a neck donut thing either, but I think I should invest in one if it helps ease her headcap off.

    23. I scraped all the putty out with.... a plastic something (might have been a plastic butterknife, I can't remember) and cleaned off the residue as best I could with magic eraser, then put her eyes back in with those silicone ear plugs you can get. Much less disgusting! : P BF eye putty is seriously gross, the eyes are much easier to change now too and I don't have to battle with the putty and get it stuck under my nails and all over. DX

    24. Haha... yeah, finally with my latest girl I think I got the hang of it... I push the eye inwards through the eye-socket, and that usually pops the whole chunk of putty out in one piece (if it's too gooey, you could stick the doll in the freezer for a couple of minutes to harden it up before doing that.) In the past I've just used paper towels to wipe it out... it's annoying, but I've always been able to get all of it out.

silentstardust > I use white sticky tack for eye putty (I think it might be 3M brand? It should be in the school supplies section of Target or similar stores.) I used to use the yellow kind, but it's not as malleable and with the white kind there's no risk of it staining. It doesn't get stuck under your fingernails and holds very well~ :D

    25. The gunkiness of BF eye putty pales in comparison to the gunkiness of Volks eye putty >.< But I cleared both types out with long-ish fingernails and cotton buds. Also tissue. And a lot of swearing...
Like Lelei, I currently use white tack for eye putty.

As for headcap removal, I put a plastic washer under the S-hook to act as a "neck donut" type thing. And then just white tack the headcap on for easy removal. So Dal's headcap isn't connected to her S-hook at all.

    26. I'm going to try this, actually, because (obviously) Staples would not have kneaded eraser. I don't know why I thought they would. XD So instead I'll stop by again tomorrow, since I didn't think of that until AFTER I left, and buy some sticky tack instead.

Alianna-- Maybe I'll buy a washer and sticky-tack the headcap on then and not mess with the S-hook. Does it stay well, even though the S-hook isn't holding the headcap on?

    27. That settles it, i'm going out to buy gloves. No putty under my nails XD

I just realised i have a ton of that tacky stuff and magic erasers :doh. My dad used to work for a company that made pens, pencils, erasers, etc and they used to give out new products to the employees. I just hope it's all still in my parents garage and it's not dried out. He hasn't worked there for like 10 years :sweat

Huh thats odd. I thought that they did have it. I thought i saw it there. Did you try Michael's or JoAnns? It's usually in the art section for serious artists.

    28. PsychoticElflet5: Yes it does. If you want to regularly reposition her eyes, sticky tacking the headcap on is good. The sticky tack will harden slightly as it dries up if you leave it too long, but re-kneading it will get it back to its old elastic-y self again.

Link to how it looks with headcap on.

And this is how it looks with headcap off.

I put white tack on 2 sides so it's more stable. And it's a relatively small amount, so that it doesn't... overflow, squish out and get into the wig when you press the headcap down. There will be a small space between head and headcap (as seen in headcap-on photo), but it's covered by the wig anyway.

      As mentioned before, I also use white tack for eye putty. The indentations in the tack are because I use my fingernails to make sure it sticks to the eye wells. ^^;;

And of course, my (translucent green) plastic washer that I use as a "neck donut". I unstrung her and slipped it onto the string before I S-hooked her back. This way, her head can still turn (slightly limited, but I don't mind) and isn't stuck in one position because of the string tension.
My only problem with it: She's strung pretty tight and my washer is not made of a hard plastic, so after a while (~1 month?), the washer slowly gives way to the pressure and the S-hook tries to squeeze its way through the washer. Then I have to push the washer back into position... (Photo: I just repositioned the washer; the bottom part of the S-hook puts quite a lot of pressure onto my poor washer)

I think I need either something that's harder, or one with a smaller hole. It's not a perfect way, but it works most of the time.

    29. I recently change the eye putty into white tack too. It is much cleaner and looks better than before.
I am a bit regret for doing this so late because everytime I tried to pull their eyes out, eye putty stuck to everywhere........

    30. I was going to check there next, so I may swing by and price kneaded eraser at Michael's, then price the tack at Staples. XD See which is cheaper, and then buy a pack of gum. That's probably all the money I would save, anyway.

I think I'll be doing that with the headcap then. Sticky tack it is! XD The gap would be bothersome, but you're right, she's going to be wearing a wig all the time ANYWAY.

Someone mentioned a Luts neck donut fitting inside the head before. Does anyone have photos of that, by any chance, and does it effect how much space is left for the eyes? And without a donut, will the S-hook vacate into the body?

Edit: So as I was typing the post my dad came in to see what I was doing, and I explained what I was going to have to do with Fimara with the S-hook and the neck donut, etc, and show him hanapui's homemade donut. FIRST he gets a pair of pliers and helps hold the S-hook so I can get her headcap off and release the pressure (it was caught behind her head and I didn't have quite enough strength to pull it up and manoeuver the headcap off). But now the S-hook is sitting on the resin, right? And I'm like, "Ehhh..." So I go take a shower, planning on finding a way to fix it BEFORE the long wait for a Luts neck donut, and when I come out I find that Dad left me a cap of some kind with a notch cut into it for a neck donut. :) :) :) I am SO happy right now. Lol All that's left is to buy the sticky tack when I go out later and I'll be all set! Finally! :) This is very exciting for me.

    31. I finally had some time to take pictures of my new arrival. :)

I hope everyone else has been recieving their white special dolls! Now all we need is for Bluefairy to reopen.

    32. I guess one of the Luts-neckpiece-talkers was me.

Here's an old pic from inside Tobias' head.

Old picture. The donut-neckpiece is white, but it doesn't show so that doesn't matter. The S-hook doesn't sink into the body without the donut, but if you let it rest on the neckhole, it does prevent the movements, at least I feel like that. And I'm afraid that the s-hook alone will chip the neckhole resin. Might be delusional about that. ^^; One of my girls doesn't have the donut inside her head and I feel like the head doesn't move as nicely as the other ones.

I've also turned into white tack user a while back. ^^

    33. It does prevent the movement !! Once I found my Somang couldn't up lift her head and I checked the inside of her head. The S-hook was rest on the neckhole and after I moved it back onto the "dounut", her head moved perfectly~

    34. xaya - what size is the donut-neckpiece you have? if you remember? I can only find the DELF size but Tiny Fairies look like Kid DELF size. If you have the delf size then i guess it fits :)

cloverfirefly - congrats on your WS coming in. Oh a pleated skirt. I'm a sucker for pleats and plaid. Must be the scottish in me ;)

    35. That's why I wanted the donut/makeshift neckpiece. XD I'm really worried it'll chip the resin if I don't have something there to keep the S-hook from rubbing against the neck now that it isn't attached to the headcap anymore.

My friend let me have some of her white sticky tack for the headcap, so I was able to take Fimara photos yesterday. She's still wearing her green eyes, but they photos are so cute I don't care. XD

cloverfirefly-- Yay! Another WS received! Any chance we can get a photo of him with your Olive boy...?

    36. I've stuck my Niky head on a friend's Kid Delf boy, and it fit like it belonged there. Admittedly, I'm buying a DZ girl body for this head, but the second Niky will get the Kid Delf boy body (so much work to make the brother shorter...)
Sadly, I forgot to take pictures when I did that switch... maybe I can get some this Friday (KD's owner will be over to my place for dinner/sewing fun.)

    37. Only neckpiece they have is Delf size, it fits into my TF's head just fine (since they are a bit big headed xD).

cloverfirefly, Jerome love <3 ^^ Congratulations on your beauty white boy, he is sooo cute. (Secret: I'm a bit happy about the delay too ^^; saving wise.)

    38. That'd be wonderful!

I actually really like how the Blue Fairy body look, and in a general sense I like how they sit and such. But I really wish Tomato can hold her poses better. I have trouble getting her arm stay up or hold a position that is not down. And she kinda have problem standing if her legs are not sideways apart... like a really standard stand pose. Sometimes it frustrates me when I need to stand her on a place, take pictures, and go she takes a lot of fiddling around. This is why I have been thinking about other bodies even though none of them really appeal to me as much as the TF body. I tried hot glue sueding but it rubs off a bit too quickly so that didn't really help.. :<

So.. I like the body, but I also don't like it.

    39. That's very true, navci !!

a recent photo of my girls<333

    40. Hmm, you guys who are having trouble with the BF floppy arms should maybe try wiring. If I understand it correctly, you shove a coated wire up the doll's arms and legs, and they can hold poses much better! It's an easy, cheap, and extremely effective mod. The wire "bends" and holds its place much better than the elastic. Or so they say!

If BF reopens in the near future, I may get a Louis... Although it's such a tossup between him and Olive...! Haha, watch them release a doll I like even more, oh noes!

    41. I actually hot glue sueded the elbows and shoulders of some of my guys and that seems to have worked out pretty well. They're not not ever really going to be as posable as double-jointed arms would, but I like the way they look better.

    42. Did you find the hot glue rub off quickly? Especially for the thigh joint, the glue was gone within days. ._. Not that I want Tomato to be able to do gymnastic poses, I'd just like her to stand still until I am done taking her picture.... ._.

    43. I need to do something with Hazel's arms... she's really floppy and I like her that way because she sort of flops into natural poses but her arms are just hopeless! I think they need tightening but I wonder if I should suede her while I'm at it... whenever I get around to tightening the arms. :sweat

    44. Wow, that's interesting. I've sueded a lot of dolls (most of the local group comes to me for restringing, etc) and the only place I've had trouble with it is around peanut style joints. Which lead to me loading my Dollshe with wire. Yes, wiring can be effective, it can also be a problem... the same wire which keeps my Dollshe standing kept getting kinked in my Domuya's joints so he had even less chance of standing. I haven't handled a BF body, so I don't know which way they'd go.

(Obviously, I'm big on posability, myself.)

    45. Not really. :sweat Is your doll still having trouble standing? What's it doing that's keeping it from standing?

    46. When I hot glue the joints in my BFs, it lasts for months before I have to redo it. And I stand and pose my little'uns a lot.

Question for people with the dandy bodies. I've acquired an older Louis head. He seems to come from that period where the BF resin was a little bit deeper in flesh tone than during their lighter periods, or what I heard were recent really pink batches. Does anyone remember when the dandy body first came out, and can they remember (or have one) that's a bit darker in comparison to other BFs? I need to put a WTB thread up and would like to give some idea of a year of origin.

Ok, EDIT: I finally got to be at home this afternoon, aka during daylight hours! And in the neutral grey light today, the head looks lighter than it did by the daylight-balance bulbs. Go figure. So really, I guess I just have to wait until Bluefairy opens and I can get a dandy body, unless one happens to come up on the secondary market.

Saw the first pix on the Bf site. LOVE those white - what are they? - tunics, pj's? SO cute!

    47. A little visual compensation for you having to read through my mini-matchup-panic attack above (I haven't yet put up the short gallery shoot this comes from):

A Kyle girl, blossom body. (Specifically bought a girl-Kyle head from BF. The makeup is a bit different on the lips, actually makes them look fuller than the boy lips!)

    48. Here's the hybrid shots I'd promised... a little late as I was off to an SCA event yesterday:
A couple more here, shirtless and wigless:
      http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s133/thothep/work in progress/BF Delf hybrid/

My Niky is currently painted to be the sister (Elenra) so it felt a little strange putting her on the boy body, but they fit together nicely as long as you're willing to work with the resin mis-match (it's less than my first hybrid). The first time I used the hook on the headcap... head posing sucked. This time I had a Luts neck donut, and stik-tacked the headcap in place... perfect head posing. The Luts neck hook does not fit through the neck hole though, so putting the head on is a bit of a pain.

    49. thothep: Thanks so much! Proportion-wise this might work out better than the MNF body. Hmm, something to think about. :>

Tomato from last weekend. I wanted to try out a shorter wig with her but the wig colour is a bit less red than I'd like. She has a new dress too, photos... well whenever I get around to finish building a lightbox. :>

    50. Here's an omake shot from my recent shoot with two of my BF boys. =w=
Couldn't fit it into the little story, so here's Kierran, just randomly posing by a pine tree. ;3

      *nudges bluefairy's site* update already...

    51. Yep, x3 and thanks~

The wig he's wearing is originally this one, but I've trimmed it myself, to fit the character. :( I couldn't find one that was neat and ready to wear to begin with.

I'm hoping for awesome new faces. =w= Hurry up BF! waagh!

    52. I actually like it a lot too. Just that I keep trying to find a replacement for the shaggy cut from BF since they don't sell it in the red I want and keep not finding the one that'd work.

      And.
      LOUIS! ... I want one. :<

    53. Yeah it's a real shame because I like it too. Well maybe you could try finding someone who got a fullset Niky or that limited edition Emilie that doesn't want the wig.

    54. Okay, as someone requester earlier, here's a little comparison shot between Luka (my Walking with November Olive from November '07) and Yuri (my White Special Jerome from May '09).

I actually think Luka is turning a pretty creamy color as he gets older.

    55. SQUEAL! *GLOMPS LUKA*

Clover, what size eyes is Luka wearing? You're right, he is getting creamy as he yellows. That's not a bad look, either. I think if the new WS wasn't standing right there it would probably be hard to tell his resin isn't the shade it's "supposed" to be.

    56. He's wearing 16mm eyes. I think they're these ones. A friend gave them to me, so I'm not exactly sure, but she mentioned getting them from sk-coolcat.

    57. Agh, whyyyy.... I kinda guessed this, and still I don't have the finances to buy. *sigh* They are all so cute!

Here's a pic from my May and Lin. :3

    58. limedragon > I bet when they re-open (IF EVER, GOD... D: It's almost June!!) there will be plenty of people buying dolls whose orders you could piggyback on for the stuff you want. ;)

Also, here's Madeline with the 'free' hands that came in the mail today...
