I am a fairly new member of The Joint. I registered as an Artist rather than as an Observer, because I am planning on making my first BJD as soon as I have all my materials together. I have most things, but still need to buy a dremel and a face mask or respirator and the rest of the clay. I am currently working on my sketch. I am doing the front, side, and back views. I am concerned and feeling pressured as I read somewhere that if you don't post with photos of your WIP within one month of registering, you will be removed from the forum. Could someone tell me if this is true or maybe I just read it wrong. I'd like to stop worrying about it if possible. Thanks.
I can't imagine that's actually true... I don't see anything about it in the rules, either. But if it would make you feel better, just post a quick photo of your sketches. That should count as a WIP. Anyway, welcome to the Joint!
>.> I have been on this forum for more than a year.... maybe two and I haven't posted pics of even my finished doll.... hmmm maybe I should get off my butt and make a thread! lol
I think what it said was that your account would be changed back to "observer".... not that it would be deleted. I'm a new member too [joined on thanksgiving XD] and I set mine to observer since I'm no where close to even beginning making a BJD. First time I ever played with making one was when I got to work with oil clay in my art class at college this semester. lol. I'm planning on getting some paper clay soon to play with :]
The Raven, Thanks for your comment. I think you correct in that changing back to observer. I am still working on my sketch! I am amazed it takes so long to get your sketches exactly the way you want them.
You're welcome! I've done a couple sketches of a BJD before but it's been awhile. I wasn't all that serious about that one when I was drawing it.... so I'm probably gonna make a new drawing of a different one later ^^ I was thinking about posting the old one on here but I'm not sure if I'm going to yet or not.
I think maybe those are old rules?? The forum changed management since those were written. You could ask a mod if you're worried.
Thanks, Alewife. That sounds reasonable. I'll check it out. I recognize your name from a fantastic thread I was following on your making a BJD. It was just wonderful to watch how you did it and your progress. I looked back at the thread and I see life got in the way. I look forward to the day when you can get back to your project. I was learning a lot.
