I joined this forum in 2007, propelled by my love for a specific doll: the Dark Elf Soo. I had her look planned out, I doodled her in my school notebooks, I looked at owner pictures constantly...the only problem was, my parents didn't think I should be saving money for something so expensive. Because, you know- I was 14. So the dream gradually faded, and I though my tastes had changed. Until I started looking at owner pictures a few months ago and realized they hadn't. I put out some feelers and settled in for a long wait. Ten days later- still can't believe that -I found an older listing on IG, and she was mine. After speeding her way here from Canada, she's finally arrived! Let's get into the 16-year-late box opening: Ceremonial box picture, as is custom. Box of Doll! The seller shipped her unstrung at my request, but left her arms, which I thought was very kind. she also came packed with plenty of bubble wrap and some large pillows- very thoughtful. The first look at her head felt surreal. She's just so beautiful. I'll probaby get her faceup redone after Christmas- I want to bond a bit, but specifically the faux-doe eyes painting isn't really doing it for me. With the too-low lower lashes. I can live with it for now, though! All ready for stringing! I didn't have a hook, so I made do with ribbon, a hanger, and an antique letter opener (don't ask). These parts have some HEFT- I think I could use her thighs as paperweights! I love how substantial she is. And the resin has incredibly nice tooth. Together at last. She must feel so much better being in one piece. With her wig and the furisode-inspired robe the seller very kindly sent. I don't think it'll be her final look clothing-wise (I tend to pick a western historical period for my dolls to wear or do more fantastical outfits) but it was such a sweet gift and it'll keep her warm while I sew for her! I don't really know what her look is going to be anymore, to be honest. I'm not sure Violet Fern dresses or the Renaissance Faire look appeal to me now, nostalgia notwithstanding. But she'll tell me soon, I'm sure. In the meantime, at least I can give her the name she was meant to have all those years ago: Celandine.
Congratulations! Old Delfs are so nostalgic. I own two, myself. And my fiance owns a few, as well. I used to want an El and a Lishe, back in 07, but never got around to getting either of them. Now I've got a vampire Breakaway 08 and a Juri 06. But anyway, she's adorable! I hope you enjoy her!
Congratulations on your dream finally coming home! Better a little bit delayed than never, right? She's gorgeous, there really is something so special about the old Delfs. I hope to see more of Celandine around DoA!
Wow! Congratulations on getting your dream girl after so many years. Yeah, I remember back in 2007, CP/Luts dolls were everywhere. El and Lishe were essentially the bjd Power Couple of the day. So happy you got your Dark Soo Elf. So wonderful seeing her! (Those old CP/Luts sculpts are so iconic.)
Yes, congratulations on finding her! She is lovely. :-) Sometimes our youthful desires are fleeting, other times they are not.
Congratulations! I imagined her with red hair and bangs in a Victorian dress, maybe even a hat and high boots, and a basket of flowers
That's how the owner before her last had her, down to the red hair! I have indeed made her a Victorian-inspired outfit, but she has bangless brown hair at the moment. I'm getting her faceup redone to be a bit less cutesy soon, so her vibe may change a little.
She's lovely! Dark Elf Soo has definetely grown on me over the years -- it's thanks to seeing hobbyists like you who express their love for her! So happy you could get your dream doll at long last ♥
Wow! That's so awesome you could get that first beloved doll after all. Congratulations! She's a very charming sculpt. I'm sure it will be great to get her customized to your liking.
Welcome home to Celandine! Sounds like it's been quite awhile of a wait for her. Right in the same boat of age there with you. I can remember myself when I would do some doodles of characters or just random things while in a study hall class or someplace similar . I'm glad you were able to make your long dream of owning a Luts Dark Elf Soo a reality! Wish you all the best with getting her face-up and fashion just the way you want it! A big congrats on the new addition to your doll family!
