Crochet Throw or Rug for BJDs (off-site link)

Mar 25, 2020

    1. I found the Rozeta pattern for free on Ravelry and I mostly love the inside circle with the flower on it. When doing my research, I found that the circle would actually be a great size for a decorative doll rug. You could do just the inner flower for a smaller rug, or go a few rows out for a larger one (even up to the second flower, though you may want to drop down to a size 1 or 2 yarn for the full second flower depending on how large your doll's room is). Each row is about 1cm high, so the first flower will be about 14cm, and the full second flower is around 26 when using size 3 (I think it's a 3, but it only recommended certain types of yarn, and I couldn't find the weight anywhere, so I went based on the yarn's recommended hook size) yarn and 4mm hook. But this is also something you could experiment with and see what size works for you!

I also think that the circle would make a great circular throw for the back of a doll couch.

I am thinking of trying out a size 1 or 2 yarn with a small hook, and making the entire blanket to see if it fits my SD sized boy. I will update if this works.

    2. Hi! Nice suggestion!

I started one a couple months ago with size 2 yarn - Lion Brand Cupcake (mixing colorways Blue Citrus and Happy Dance), and some unbranded black yarn which approximately matched the Cupcake’s texture and size.

This shows how the pattern looks up to the last row or two of week 1’s instructions, with a YoSD for scale. For a 1/5ish or 1/6 scale dollhouse rug, it may look nice to finish week 1 then put a border on it.

If you want to work up the full medallion though, you’ll probably want to use a 1 / fine yarn, (mercerized cotton would be very nice!) or even thread. Otherwise it will become a very luxurious mega blanket even for a 1/3 doll. Nothing wrong with that! Don’t we all wish we could have a blanket that big and beautiful? ;D

As I keep making progress I can share how it sizes up with my 1/4 and 1/3 scales.

edits: ..only way I can get the image to show is by linking, sorry. I haven’t been very active since the image hosting changeover last year, don’t know the workaround yet. I’ll try to get that figured out.

    3. Thanks! The part you have next to the YoSD was exactly what I had in mind:) I don’t have anything smaller than SD and I don’t have space to make a bedroom for my doll yet, so I really appreciate the photo! I’m glad to know it works
