I am a little excited about getting a doll and have been keeping myself busy with craft projects since I don't trust myself to start on clothes until I have her in my hands. Enough jabber, time for pics. Michaels planter thingy = couch! Hopefully I got the link right
Phaydra, what a lovely couch. The "tufted" back is very elegant. Will be looking forward to seeing your girl sitting there.
it looks beautiful! i was going to pick one up to fix up for my doll but shes a little too big for it I hope you're doll enjoys it!
It wasn't too hard, I used crap I had stockpiled around the house. Granted, I have more than your average stockpile of sewing crap. Mostly its done with cardboard, cotton quilters batting and some nastily half felted wool roving. The silk of course, and random beads from the stash. The arms were the only real pain in the bum part, those took some fiddling to get where they are now. They are the only part firmly attached to the couch frame. I did do prepoked holes in the cardboard for the beading thread to go through for the tufting. Oh, almost forgot, lots of masking tape, too. I may go back and add some cording for detail and I do have cushions planned but then I'm nutty that way. At some point in the future I'll more than likely recover it and then I may try and put together a photo tutorial. I've never done anything like that though.
You know, the creativity shown by people in this hobby never ceases to amaze me - that's wonderful! Yes, must get to Michaels this weekend. Thanks for sharing!
That looks fabulous!!! That's the same couch frame I used. I love that pinky/peachy shade of the fabric you used.
viva for WalMart, I got the fabric there for less than a buck I added something on after I took the photo. since my girl is a SD, I stacked pennies and added the stacks under the legs to make it taller for her (and now I'm thinking what should I do with the pots...:P)
Hey, I have that same pink and orange fabric! XD Did you get it out of the remnants bin? That's where I got mine. How did you do the white wire part? I love it, so gorgeous.. looks really professional!
er...... from Michaels I might ended up selling mine in market place since Este is too big for the coach anyway
that's amazing, such a gorgeous colour too. do you have a photo of the planter before you started? i'm in the UK and would love to find something similar.
Unfortunately I don't. It was a wire frame couch that held 2 terra cotta pots. Tell you what, tomorrow I'll take the back and seat off of it and take a picture for you. The upholstered arms are attached and I can't take them off easily but it should still give you a good idea of what it looked like before hand.
I just bought the planter base today. I will try to take a pic of it tomorrow before I start my cushions.
That is a really nice couch! Great job! It will be really great if you have a photo tutorial in future! Am looking forward to it!
Very very cool! I saw this item and I'm not into the white wrought iron thing so I thought 'no dice' but that looks just great! Wow....4 kids AND cool hobbies? You rock....I worry I'll never touch hot glue again if I have kids!
