Third eye?

Apr 4, 2005

    1. I don't plan to do this to Ashling, maybe to my eventual El, but does anyone know how I might go about 'opening' a third eye on a doll's forehead? I would like it to have the slight crease of an eyelid, which I might be able to pull off with apoxie.

      Any ideas, warnings, suggestions?

    2. I'd probably lay the eye horizontal, but that helps a lot. :3!! Thank you.

Any other ideas, suggestions welcome. :3 Help me figure out how to saw into El's forehead! @w@ (because there is just no romantic way to put it)

    3. on YJ! there was a 4 sisters head with 3'rd eye some day ago :)

    4. mmmm yea I saw that on YJ to...

The only way I can think is to drill into the head to make a opening then either gently use a tiny electic drill with fine sand paper.. (like a nail drill for acrylics) to open more then gently cut with sharp art knife and sand with fine sand paper.. if you wanted to make a sort of lip round the eye then I think you could use epoxy, as some have used for their elf ear projects.

Good luck and please if you do this in the future pop loads of pics up for us to see, you could even maybe do a step by step that would be great...

    5. You could use a jewelers saw, very accurate hand tool. Can find on ebay.

    6. Thanks for all the awesome suggestions. :3 I plan to do this to either a Calvin or El headmold, and I'll document the process as best I can.

    7. You don't have access to a dremel tool, do you, Jho?

    8. Er, that was Zoi. ^^;

    9. Silly Zoi. :daisy Tricks are for kids.

And no, I don't, but I can pick one up easy at Canadian Tire - it's like what, three blocks away from me? I've been considering investing in one.

    10. Dremmel Tool = HEAVEN.

It's a must-have for any complicated craft project. I LOVE mine.

    11. See, it's talk like that that makes me want one. XD;; For shame, you. I'm supposed to be saving up for Calvin and a vampire Shiwoo head 83

    12. Baha XD; Well, I mean, you can get one at any time, but they are so versatile and if you have plans to do various craft/carving/etc projects in the future, it's totally worth the investment.

GL with whatever you want to buy first (CALVIN!!) XD

    13. After the rash of birthdays that are assaulting me this month, definately. Especially since I'm getting an extra $225+ next month for dogsitting. <3 <3 <3 Hoo-ray for over-generous dog owners 83

    14. I have a picture of a Sharmin with three eyes, if that helps as well. :) This one's horizontal.

It always bugged me as to what you'd do with the extra eye from every set, though. XD One of my friends suggested stringing a necklace of eyeballs....

    15. I don't think its Sharmin, but some older Serendipity head on a CP body judging from the shoulder joint.

Extra eyes? Make up "odd pair" lots and sell them.
