Things that are hard to find that you would like to see more of

Mar 24, 2010

    1. I'm not sure if this thread exists or not as I couldn't find one but my searching skills are terrible so (Mods feel free to move or delete this if needed)

      I find it so hard to find good quality (punk) MSD clothes most everything I find that I like is SD size or larger. Also staffs, One of my boys is an exorcist and he has a Buddhist staff, I can't find anyone who makes them anywhere.

      So my question is

      What have you had trouble finding? that you would gladly pay for because it's something you doubt you'll ever be able to find again? Not just clothing related but anything to do with the doll hobby. Props, furniture, ect?

    2. Clothes for tinies (26cms) :( There's SO much stuff for MSDs and SD sized dolls compared to Yo-SD sized ones... well, maybe it's because I want some rather impossible (or limited) items like a raincoat, umbrella and galoshes for my little boy... T 3 T

    3. A actual Batman outfit. (Or Riddler jumpsuit) A line of SD clothes for Drag Queens. I'll have more when I think of more.

      • x 2
    4. An old-fashioned SD-sized sewing machine! I've seen them in pictures so I know they exist, but I've never been able to find one for sale. I wish I could find an SD gramophone, too.
      And I wish there were more Victorian-looking boots. (You can really tell what my tastes are in this post, heh). I want button-style ladies' boots in all sizes, and they're really hard to find.

    5. Bird anthros.

    6. In bjd costume I think realistic ethnic, military and historical costumes are all very hard to find and I wish the big companies would use their incredible skills to make more things like that. Standard BJD clothing seems to mainly consist of manga/lolita/street, which isn't at all what I want, I can rarely find outfits I really want to buy. Luckily I have a sister skilled in sewing!

      Regarding dolls themselves, I wish there were a lot more ethnic dolls to the standard of Iplehouse dolls. A lot of dark skinned dolls have the brown skin colour of an African etc but a totally caucasian face, or even an anime face, whereas IH dolls actually have stunning features that look African - see Kamau/Ashanti/Cocori etc for proof!

    7. Hound-size converse shoes... The closest I can find are female model doll, which... won't work for males. ;-;

    8. This. Beautiful, victorian to modern scale furniture. Not just a couch or chair, but a full houses worth.

      I would also love higher quality props and more variation in clothing styles from companies.

    9. Masks. Real, like carnival masks.

      More fanciful, cheap MSD clothes.

      More MSD violins!!! I only know of them on two sites, and both those sites ARE IN KOREA. >< 20 dollars shipping ftl!

    10. Complete and authentic looking cowboy outfit with to-scale accessories (holster and six shooter, rope, spurs, etc.

      • x 1
    11. The wigs I want, in funky colors, and made with synthetic hair. Mohair wigs are easy to make, so I'm not too keen on buying them, but the marketplace is overrun with them.

    12. =A= Th-Those are so cute... thank you for the link! But.. there's still no way I can get them... xD;;

    13. This. This x1000.

      I'd love to see simple modern furniture. Volks has a lovely modern couch that is nice, simple, and uncluttered that is exactly the sort of thing I'm thinking of here. I could probably find a fainting couch or a fancy-pants chair that looks like it fell out of the nearest brothel -- and don't get me wrong, for some of my crew, that would be exactly what would be appropriate -- but it's hard to find nice, simple, modern furniture in SD size. I've seen what people make themselves/special order from craftsmen, that couch, and a few beds that qualify for modern SD furnishings without the fluff, glitz, excessive floral prints/lace/tassels/velvet/pink/etc. I've seen a few stunning gothic pieces that are fairly elaborate that I would have loved to have gotten my hands on, but they were sold out long before I ever saw them.

    14. Haha, I'm looking for such nichey and unique stuff it's not even funny, but you know what there really needs to be more of but is pretty much impossible to find - TSHIRTS. They have black, they have white, but I need red and teal! And you know what else would be great to have? Sporty shoes (I'm actually looking for black cleats with white stripes up the side). Just normal everyday sneakers too. And plain baseball caps. Oh, and headsets!

      ...okay, yeah, it's pretty easy to guess what costume I'm trying to gather for my boy now, isn't it? I swear, I don't have a serious thing for The Scout. Really! The parts are so basic for normal people but SO hard to find for dolls!

      Oh, and for my upcoming doll, I need PLAIN Vans. I've seen them with patterns.. what's wrong with plain clothes ;-;

    15. I'm with you on that, also would liked medieval+oriental armor and a bicycle.

      • x 1
    16. @vanzinger

      I don't know about cleats but I saw tons of regular sporty shoes in doll shops and on ebay. I think Sunnys Wonderful World carries some, for example. Souldoll sells baseball caps (I'm sure there are more) and plain vans can be found on ebay as well or can be bought from a range of dealers in the US. Last time I checked Mint on Card had some (easy to paint, if you don't like the color .. I do that with my own shoes xD)

      The only dealer with dolly sized T-Shirts in those colors I know is in Germany, so that won't help you much, but I'm sure you can get them in US shops, too. Or just sew them yourself, Shirts aren't hard at all. (& I'm really no sewing talent)

    17. I remember writing this in a similar thread but it was a while back now, what about more variation in dolls, such as a pregnant doll or older, more rugged looking dolls? There definitely aren't enough hot male bjds out there, with real manly bodies and a distinctly male face. That's why I loooove IH Kamau, strong manly cheekbones and jawline, sensuous mouth and the Devil's eyes with a big, buff body woweeeee!

    18. ^ This! Also, authentic looking army gear. Not just combat uniforms, but everything you need to make a convincing battleground set. And I'm dying to get some 1/2, 1/3 scale AK-47's. ... There are are not enough of those.

    19. A fedora. A pinstripe suit, not one with long tails. More sneaker type shoes. More "average guy" clothes. More patterns. I can make all this myself, but I need help on patterning some of it!

      • x 1
    20. To those looking for army type uniforms, check out Mint on Card. They carry HZ clothes and while they are pricy, they are extremely well made. I don't have the army type uniform but I do have one of the other ones.

    21. I know its only one doll, and the dolls as a whole are expensive, but I really love this lady.

      http://www.enchanteddoll.com/galleries/propstate/propstate.html

    22. Hmmmm. I'm still not sure what I make of enchanted doll but I second the more variation thing. OK, minimees are a potential source of older more rugged faces but I'd like more varied bodies. In particular, I'm on a mission to find a doll with REALISTIC LEGS. Not disturbingly long shapeless tubes.
      As for items, I think there could be more realistic accessories for 1/3 dolls. More electronics and household objects, cash and food & drink, luggage, books and magazines, that sort of thing. Rement minatures cater well for 1/6 scale but there's not so much for bigger dolls.

    23. I'm still longing for more martial arts weapons... Staghorn knifes, wind-and-fire wheels, a nice leaf-head spear or serpent staff... That sort of thing. Swords are everywhere, but there's no love for anything more exotic in the proper scale. :(

    24. bloodyrose - Oh yeah I love enchanted dolls, and the Property of the State doll is really unusual and lovely. Have you got an ED? I hope to own one one day. Emerald is my favourite of the basic nudes but I can't decide which costumed doll I prefer.

      Discobiscuit - I know what you mean about the legs, that's what puts me off some dolls, their freakishly long skinny alien legs. I especially dislike the legs on a lot of male bjds.

    25. I'd like sort of 'occupational' style clothing. Like a police uniform or even a mechanics jumpsuit. I'd also love some in scale tools and guns. Not handguns, but shotguns and the like.

      • x 1
    26. Shoes for my msd girl that are her style. Most of what I find are gothic or lolita style, and they tend to be platformed or have a heel. But outside the classic mary jane, it is hard to find shoes that a little girl would really wear.

    27. toys, music players, game players, I really want to get my boy more things but they are so hard to find.

      • x 1
    28. An SD proportion cello, everything that's not a real small cello is just not the correct... I've even been trying to commission one , with no avail (=A=')

    29. saiyan armour is my top choice lol

    30. some more real animal (non-anthro) bjds and more fantasy msd parts/dollies ^^

    31. I definitely would LOVE to see more, more, MORE realistic dolls! There are definitely quite a good few, but I really wouldn't mind to see some more hanging around DoA and my home. c: Though, I do have to say that it is rather difficult to find one that is realistic AND suits my tastes. Grrr. XD;

      • x 1
    32. I believe that Eva of Lumedoll is working on a pregnant sculpt. I know that there was a big discussion about this before on DOA about whether or not people would be interested in a sculpt like that and I would find it to be quite interesting. Although, maybe it would be possible to have a resin tummy part cast similarly to Rocket Corgi's chest enhancement cups for their resin DD-like dolls.

      I'd like to see more stylized dolls in SD size that are in the same vein as Anu's Syrinx and Dust of Dolls' Tank. What I mean to say is stylized, but not stylized in an "cartoony" way. I'd also love to see more SDs that are thickly shaped and curvy (e.g. like Unoss, Aoi-Tuki, Iplehouse EIDs, I-Doll Studio girls, etc). I'd love to see more 1/3 sized luggage, steampunk and Victorian accessories.

    33. Check out this wonderful man!!

      He made me a Perfect SD13 sized Gackt Guitar and he's working on a lot of stuff for me right now. I completely 100% recommend him!!

    34. I would love to see if there r Tranditional samuri era style Japanese SD sized Tea sets, I am looking for two one in white and pink with sakura bloosoms on it and the other in Black and red

    35. I'd like to see more odd not-so-pretty dolls, and also, more small realistic dolls.

    36. Vampire dolls that don't have sleepy, half-closed, or generally narrow eyes. Also, resin or metal armour that doesn't come with a limited doll. And I wish people would start making more wacky resin hair. I think it's cool!

    37. Like someone said, 1 : 3 scale furniture!!! So I can outfit a whole (huge) house for my SDs!!!

    38. I totally agree with this!! I would love to see more realistic school uniforms, and other proper outfits from different time periods and societies that aren't super stylized. I'd also like to see more ethnic dolls- weird as it is considering they're mostly asian companies, I'd like to see more asian looking dolls, as well as more dolls that look african. I'm a little disappointed that the features are nearly always so generic... however, my wishlist tends toward the few unique looking sculpts out there, so I'm going to definitely give them credit for trying! :)

    39. Oddly enough I found some doll sized of these in a market. They are not perfect for dolls but give the illusion!

    40. Gloves. Ugh, don't even get me started on these. They're hard enough to find in SD sizes, and downright impossible to find in MSD sizes. D;

      Also, pilot goggles, MSD size. Like, realistic, good-looking ones that don't have chains hanging off the sides or something.

    41. Definitely furniture and technology (computers, game consoles, etc.). Basically more set materials.

    42. In-proportion butterfly knives (the keychain ones I find are still too big for SD), baseball and motorcycle helmets, and wide plastic headbands.

    43. I will add to the comments wishing for more weapons-- I see swords and some kinds of pistols on a regular basis, but beyond that it's near impossible to find in-scale weapons. I would desperately like a crossbow for my incoming MSD (not a working one of course, but even if it came close to looking like a crossbow I'd be happy >.<) and in the future I'd be interested to see staves, polearms, more dagger-sized knives/swords, among others. At the same time, I don't want to pay something like $200 for them...

      Also, more MSD fantasy parts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe AH's Luka the Pan hooves are the only MSD hooves out there.

    44. YES TO TECHNOLOGY. I've been wanting to find a MSD sized laptop for my doll but i can't seem to find it anywhere D: A proper DSLR too, with removable lenses, i've seen one in a shoot in the galleries, but it isn't exactly the most common thing around OTL

    45. *poke* I found a pink Vaio laptop in the MP Accessories, MSD-sized. XD Hurry up and get your full MP access so you can snap it up. XD

    46. OTL twelve more posts. eleven after this one ^^;

    47. The Hallmark Keepsake Ornament laptops are about right for MSD's. They're slightly small but not out-of-scale small. Check Ebay. There's a blue one and a silver one.

      I'd really like a place to buy basic separates. Like there's a standard outfit price and you choose the shirt, pants, jacket or hoodie and an accessory or two to create your own. Just more basics in general. Plain well-fitted (meaning the neckline looks right) T-shirts in various colors, jeans in more colors than dark indigo and way-too-light, anything that's not super-goth or mega-lolita or too fantasy. In colors other than black, white, pink and funky prints. Many of the otherwise awesome handmade things I've seen suffer from funkyprint syndrome. I know fun fabrics are fun, but there must be SOME plain solid colors to balance them with!

      Luckily there are people to commission for many of these items (though it's different people for each size!), but it would be awesome to have a place for true basics you can get quickly at a lower price. I really don't get why there's nowhere you can go and order a basic plain T-shirt in a choice of colors and sizes. Dollmore would almost have it if all their stuff wasn't black and white.

    48. Clothes and shoes for mecha angel dolls and mature mini's. Carrier cases made for more than 1 doll(I'd love it to be 3 dolls)

    49. I would love to find nice, quality, detailed Dresses and Full Adult-Style Outfits (not baby-doll) for Lati Green (No, NOT YoSD because not all YoSD actually fits Lati Green) that's not made over-seas so I can afford the item without paying more for shipping than for the actual item! /rant

      (Not that I have any problem with overseas manufacturers. On the contrary, most of what I own is from overseas, and they make what I want... but the shipping is OUT OF THIS WORLD O_o)

    50. I'd love to see a pregnant doll, or the option to imitate pregnancy with like a magnetic attachment. (yes, like barbie. >> )
      Also, more shoes! Normal shoes, like just sneakers I would wear. Not kitty face boots and stuff, as cute as they are. xD

    51. I completely agree with this entire post! I want pregnant ladies and manly men!

    52. This! I'm get a 28 cm boy and I've pretty much already resigned myself to making most of his clothes (even worse that he's a new doll from a less-heard-of company, so there is pretty much nothing specifically for him). I don't really mind having to sew since I had planned on it anyways, but it would be nice to have more options available out there without having to custom-order. Also shoes in this size that aren't cutesy.

      Actually, clothing in this size range for boys at all is pretty rare, and I'd love to see a wider range of realistic-looking weapons across all sizes, but especially smaller. Generally more props and clothes for people who want to have photostories/scenarios across a range of genres.

      More wigs in dark gray. I've found quite a few but a lot of companies don't have it as an option.

      And guys that look more like guys without looking evil. I mean, I love a lot of the softer male faces, but most of the faces that are trying to be more rugged/masculine are just kind of scary to me.

      On the other hand, more men that are realistically slim instead of ripped, more companies giving you an option with breast size and more realistic breast shapes.

      More skin tones, more realistic skin tones, more dolls that look realistically ethnic.

      More realistic dolls in general.

      I think I'm done for now. :|

    53. nice wigs that are not mohair that are in more average styles, especially for guys! Like what about short hair styles? like short, spiked gelled hair, ya know? and definitely a more diverse choice of clothing. I'm not looking for chains and skulls for my guys. What about a simple, nice hoodie to fit my manly men along with some nice shoes and pants? and watches? and...and...oh I could go on! *chuckles*

    54. MadameLecter, I hear you on normal guy wigs! A lot of male sculpts would look far more masculine with masculine hair.

      And I think more clothes in general without embellishments/prints. Some of the AnotherSpace jackets would work really well for the fantasypunk doll I'm planning if they were the same cuts without the prints.

    55. Armor! Chainmail!
      Swords! Normal boots for guys! Nice guy hair.
      Boot cut pants for boys.

    56. Foxdragon, I agree with everything you said. Therefore I hope you don't mind me quoting you. I want everything Foxdragon wants and I want regular shoes for a boy with a 6.4 foot - not boots with heavy chains and high heels. My character is a young boy who still is nice to his mother and likes to play his his sister. Where are the hiking boots, the round toes and the kind of shoes his mother buys for him? He doesn't need a sword but he could use a nice bicycle. I'm getting out the sewing machine but how in heck am I supposed to sew a bicycle?

      It will be a challenge ...

    57. As those have said:

      Pets or animals REAL sized.
      Beds for SD.

      I've only found a few and they come in two colors I hate. ><

      Battle gear or weaponry and a good MOTORCYCLE that's not a 'hog'.

      More female BJD that don't look so 'girly' or maybe even a little dark.

      And SD wings that don't look like a Halloween accessory from K-mart.

      • x 1
    58. I'm just going to put it out there that more realistically proportioned sword letter-openers should work for the SD and larger dolls (they're the same size as some doll swords and have actual blades and wrapped handles), and you can also buy mini-katanas that wouldn't be too large for the 70 cm range. They're not cheap, but they'll look better than most doll swords and you have a decent selection, especially since a lot of movie replica swords are made in mini :)
