Yeah, my first thought is that one Kardashian magazine photo, with the champagne. I wish they had included side pics of him standing in the outfit, to see exactly how ridiculous it looks with that stance.
I knew EXACTLY which boy on Mandarake you meant when I saw this! I saved a pic because I thought it was so funny. (And I did wonder what went wrong that he's standing like that! Poor guy looks like he had a terrible skateboarding accident!)
Yosds on Mandarake never fail to cheer me: Me when I see the customs bill Me after reluctantly paying the said customs bill.
Laughing at myself for this one. I was really tempted by an in-stock doll, but there wasn't a single profile (side) picture in the listing. Did I email the dealer and ask for a side picture of the doll's nose? Yes. Yes I did. (I also asked if he came with dingding parts. Because that's a thing. )
The fact that the elastic in dolls can make them "floppy" or "kicky" in my opinion it almost gives dolls personality! I unironically argue at my kicky dolls when trying to get them dressed! My kicky dolls have more attitude and my floppy dolls are more cuddly
The censored dingding parts are super funny to me. I forget which company makes "Handy," but it's hilarious. Like Thing from The Addams Family came along and decided to hide the family jewels.
Granado provides some of their guys with magnetic "Handy" and and "Hardy" parts. I have a mature tiny Lucifer with them and can verify that @cleverLC is right, "Handy" is hilarious. Disembodied modesty hand option in case you need it!
All the nude photos of dolls I either look at or have stored on my phone. Usually sales photos or resin yellow references but still would concern anyone not into dolls. Lol
I'm printing a body at 1/2 scale. It's gorgeous. Cue me running around the house: "My boobies are so pretty!"
New I can't remember who it was who posted Ringdoll Mona chopping onions but it still gives me a chuckle sometimes. Edit: it was @phanuel, linked
New Don't these heads look like they're completely different in scale?? Yep! "Realistic" scale vs "old school" scale So it's ironic that: The smaller head on the left goes on the tallest and biggest body in my crew - 69cm. (Morolab2 Kaska, 14/6mm eyes, 8.4inch or 21.4cm head circumference) The bigger head on the right goes on the shortest male body in my crew - 62cm-ish. (Dollstown Mui, 16/8mm eyes, 9.1inch or 23.2cm head circumference) Doll proportions are SO goofy
New Ohoho yes, this is one I know too well! My first doll, Mathonwy, is very old school and very beautiful, and even dolls I bought back at the same time are just more in the semi real style, so he doesn't match them well at all. I am thinking of letting him out of that storyline-group and letting him just be his own lil guy. I just love both styles so much!
New @Rosslyn It's a lot harder when the oldschool doll is the odd one out of everyone! Thankfully I have 2 other bigheaded oldschool dolls apart from my DT Mui, and one of them is his significant other. So they can all chill together in their endearing bigheadedness. (All 3 are also the shortest 1/3s in the collection. ) But my entire doll crew is an ensemble cast from the same storyline, so I'm taking photos of them together, proportional wonkiness be hanged. ...I've done it so much that I honestly don't see the proportion wonk anymore
New There was this one time when I got some optional parts for my dolls and on the customs declaration the description said the package contained "various body parts"...
New That's hilarious. I wonder what the customs people thought. I once had a doll from china declared as "adult toy". It's a bit of a running gag around here. Even outside of the hobby I've had some funny ones. I got a pack of guitar picks declared as "plastic sheeting" once. A friend had a guitar marked as "hand tool". Luckily, the number code has always been correct so I don't know if anyone actually reads the description.
New I wondered about that too and had a good laugh about it. It was also one of those times when for a moment or two the thought crossed my mind that “I will not be entirely surprised if there is a follow-up question or two about this….” Haha that is amazing! Not what you want written on a customs declaration perhaps but very funny! “no no, not that kind of adult toy, I swear!” I can confirm that customs do indeed check the description (if it’s an automated process or not, no idea, but it’s a good idea to keep the description as specific as possible). I know this has changes a bit over the years but in the last few years I’ve had packages rejected and returned because the description was missing entirely, was too vague or was in languages other than Swedish and English. I have also talked to customs a few times to get a better understanding on how to write the declarations to be sure there ae as few potential issues as possible and they are always very helpful and friendly Haha indeed There ae so many opportunities for jokes about what such an online store might be called
New My theory is that it was innocent language slip, because children's toys are quite well regulated when it comes to materials and how they are made and, needless to say, polyurethane is not a material that is suitable for children's toys. So they probably wanted to make sure it wasn't rejected because it was taken for an ordnary toy. But it's much funnier out of context.
New I just had to keep the moobs alive after seeing this from DollZone : Spoiler: Looks like it's not just the ladies who have size options anymore XDXDXD Legenddoll | BJD 75cm Male Body B75-001 Ball-jointed doll
New @Darkness Fatale @MaleficentMrsofEvil Is it weird that I hope that I might want a a little of that look for the mini versions of those bodies? But, just for one floating doll head. So, as a joke, I temporarily placed him on a 45cm girl body. YEAH, ...I should have NEVER done that. I still haven't taken the doll head off, either.
New Dollzone beat Miracle Doll's corset moobs. Unbelievable. You have a Mini Moob Man?!? You've got to share him here!
New I hope to have one, one day. Spoiler: Mini man doll head on girl doll body It's like he's the world's best bikini model. Isn't he..."Charming"? (Sorry about the pun.)
New Funny sculpt names are always great. Sometimes it's something dramatically long or just odd sounding. A recent favorite? A sharp-toothed girl named "Knify". What a great name.
