^ Unfortunately I don't have any bjd's at the mo, but if I did I don't know if I could pick a favourite. As all my characters are so different and that's what makes them special and individual.

v If your dolls could have any pokemon they wanted as their companion, which would they have?

 

^ Ooh, good question. Amie would have a Buneary friend. Zeke would have a fire type, probably an Arcanine or something similar. Lyra is like a legendary in her own right, so I'm thinking Jirachi for her.

< Just cleaned the apartment, I'm exhausted but feeling great!

^ Rai-Xun and I have the same weakness when it comes to smells: Vanilla and Marshmallow.

< I absolutely love my little Yo-SD! WHY did i not get one sooner?! 5 years in this hobby and now i finally have the perfect little cutie!

v Do you like to create realistic characters for your dolls, or more fantasy oriented?

 

^ Definitely more fantasy oriented. All my OC dolls have fantasy elements to them: elves, anthros, magic, "talking animals," all kinds of fun stuff like that. And even my character dolls still have fantastic elements to most of them (magic, sci-fi, half-ghosts, half-gods, etc). I tend to love that kind of stuff, and grew up reading a ton of Fantasy and Science Fiction literature, so it's not particularly surprising that my characters tend that way, too.

v Since I'm working so hard on homework, do your doll characters tend to have formal educations, mentorships, or just "learning it on the streets," as it were?

 

^ Most of my characters are learn-it-on-the-streets types. I think Kiyo's the only one with a formalized education as we understand it (Dave miiiiiiiiight have a formal education but it's hard to tell, because Homestuck).

v Doll manicures/pedicures -- yes? No? Do it yourself? Commission?

 

^ No, but it sounds interesting though! I'd be nervous though seeing as it'd be hard to change colors once you pick one.

< I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't mind how warm it is currently in December. I'll gladly take the warm weather as opposed to freezing half to death, even if it doesn't feel Christmasy.

v How long did it take you to decide on your first doll?

 

^ Five seconds. No, seriously. I laid eyes on an Isao and said "Yes, that's THE ONE." And when I had the opportunity to get him in pieces, I jumped on it.

< So much knitting for Christmas...I will be glad to be done with it, and getting back to knitting for myself. :P

v What's the fastest you've ever decided on a doll? Or, if you prefer, the slowest?

 

^ As soon as Dollzone posted their picture of Scorpio, I was hit. The same night, i found someone to do a split. I don't think I ever decided on something so quickly before. As for the slowest? That would have to be my Bobobie Espree girl. I just couldn't decide on a sculpt for her, and it took me SO LONG to finally resolve myself to that sculpt...and I'm very glad i did.

< Getting the Christmas tree tomorrow! Its so weird being in Canada and having T-shirt weather in december...

v Do any of your dolls have favourite authors or artists?

 

^ Not specifically authors, but some have series by the same author they like. I have a feeling I'll make a character for one obsessed with different authors some day, though, or at least Shakespeare for sure.

< I love that it started pouring today! It hasn't rained that hard in so long, I'm so excited for this winter! Especially since taking rainy seasons are when I like taking pictures best.

v Have there ever been any dolls you really wanted that, no matter what you think of, you couldn't come up with a character or style or any ideas?

 

^ Yes! I'm totally enamoured by the Iplehouse Grace sculpt. But she really doesn't fit with any of my planned characters. (Not that I have the funds for one anyway.) So I just stalk owner and company pictures of her. Sigh

v Do you have dolly props and sets for photos or just focus on the dolls? And if so where did you find the best ones?

 

^ I have props and sets for photography and I actually found the best ones (mini easel, 1/3 mug etc) at normal dollar stores.

v are there any times when you watch a show/ play a video game and you see a character you want a BJD of?

 

^ Ooh, yes! One season of "The Great British Baking Show" was on PBS, and I fell in love with one of the bakers, a girl named Ruby. She was just so lovely, and I want a doll that looks like her. @u@ SHE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. (I already have a handful of video game character BJDs.)

v Is there a character BJD you would love to have but you just haven't found the right doll yet? Explain, please!

 

^ I keep flip-flopping on how I'm going to shell Arya, one of my co-author's OCs. I've found a few sculpts that are almost right, but not quiiiite. Fortunately, Sky comes next, and Vice probably comes after that, so I've got a while to figure her out.

^ Nope. I have a ton of OCs, but my favourites change depending on which story I'm working on, so trying to pick any to specifically shell probably wouldn't work very well. In general, I prefer to figure out the doll's character after I buy it.

< Finally, finally ready to buy a body for that floating head...! So excited

v What's the longest you've had a floating head (or floating body?) around for?

 

^ Oh I can't even answer that....I've had heads floating around for so long that I eventually gave up and sold them rather than buy them bodies. I'm really bad right now, I keep putting certain heads off so I can deal with other dolls. And newer, more exciting heads.

V Twisting the before Q: Any character you have thought about making into a doll, have the perfect mold in mind but haven't done it for other reasons?

 

^ The character my username is, Safira. I briefly had the perfect doll for her - an Iplehouse gray Luna. The character is a goddess, with big wings, gem encrusted gown, floor length hair. But just the blank doll itself was too big (EID size) and I couldn't imagine having the whole thing, you know? Too fancy. It's probably awful to say, but it didn't seem like she'd fit in with my surroundings. XD; The other dolls I have are fairly plain.

< Gonna sit at gov't desk and try to look busy for the next 8 hours. Mondays are so dead.

v Any dolls you loved but couldn't keep for any reason?

 

^ Soom Amber. I loved her, she was gorgeous, I was thrilled with her when I got her... and then she just didn't work out for me. I ended up selling her off, and she put me off larger dolls for years. (I did take a chance on a secondhand Delf a while back, and now have two secondhand Delfs, so I'm back on larger dolls, for better or for worse.) As lovely as she was, I think if I had the whole period to do over again, knowing what I know now, I would have held off on buying her, and gotten Afi/Ai instead.

v Do you have "one that got away?" A doll that you wanted, but couldn't get for whatever reason?

 

Granado Uranus. I realize he was just re-released too, but I didn't know that was going to happen before I ordered two other dolls. *sigh*

^ I do! Both my first actual doll part--Volks Isao head--and my Hound! A decade of resin bliss. :3

^ Yes, though he's currently split into two pieces. My first was a Bobobie Sprite on a male BBB body; right now the head has been moved over to an Impldoll body, and the body's waiting for me to order it a new head.

^ around 30, if not exactly (don't ask me to list - I don't even have them all in my profile, since I don't list floating heads)

V What's your latest dolly craft project?

 

^ Aside from Sky's spice cabinet, I'm still working on making some Camp Halfbood shirts for a few of my dolls, as well as some fandom shirts for a friend of mine....I need to do those soon, but i keep procrastinating.

< my grandparents came over and I showed them Yu (my harucasting adori/impldoll boy, Yo-SD sized) and they said they like him a lot better than my other dolls...and my mom agrees.

^ Nope. Shia, Mikhail, and Key are all single, and Terje and Wish are too young to think about romance. =P

^ 2016 doll plans = yay. I'm planning to order my two custom-coloured girls from IMPLdoll and that's it for resin. 2016 is going to be the year of clothes, shoes and re-doing faceups.

^ Oh jeez, what don't I have planned. I need to find a place for my dolls in my new apartment, get them all clothes that actually fit their characters, and maybe I'll send one or two off for a faceup. And pray that I don't succumb to buying new ones that I already have my eye on.

< I really hope I get some money this year for Christmas so I can spend it all on my dolls.

v How many dolls is too many for you?

 

^ I once thought it would be if the number ever crossed double-digits. Now, I'm not actually sure. I'm nearing 40, I have plans for more, and I don't see myself selling any of the dolls that are here (I love having all of them). As long as I can keep fussing the display areas to hold them, I don't see an actual critical limit number. I will eventually fill up the characters I want to shell, though, which will make the number hold steady around that point.

< I didn't get everything I wanted cleaned today, but gosh my kitchen looks nice right now!

^ trying to decide what to do with Unoa FP. I'm still at it. How many full dolls, hybrids, which ones and what colors? Tan ones release next year. I'll never be 'done'! Fortunately this makes me very happy rather than frustrated.

^ The story of my life! I had two holy grail dolls that were limited/long discontinued -- Volks Shirou Tachibana and Dollshe Afghan. I actually own the Afghan; I had the unholy luck to have someone I knew who was willing to sell me hers and hold her until I could afford her. She's loverly.

^ Mmmm, I think an SD-sized girl built like me--skinny, flat in all the ways, leggy, and broad-shouldered. Kind of like an SD version of a Batchix Lagoon. But she has to be bigger headed so she doesn't look silly next to my big-head crew. I also want about a million more male dolls with strong noses--long, hooked, crooked noses. LOVE THAT ACTION.

^ Yes. My characters Raymonde and Nathan are tricky. With Raymonde it's the combination of the shape of her eyes and her expression, with Nathan the sculpt either looks too gentle or too angry. Or maybe I'm just picky XD.

^ Yes, I still have her, and I don't plan on ever selling her. I might change her style but wouldn't get rid of her.

^ Not yet! Doll purchases remain to be the highlight of my days ♥

< Friends are over, and we're all on our laptops. What a bunch of nerds.

v Have you ever ordered a doll direct from the company? How did it go?

 

^ Of the nine that I've owned over the course of my involvement in the hobby, six and a half came direct from the company and I never had a problem (god bless you, Elfdoll, and your generous layaway policy). I prefer ordering direct if I can; however, as nothing on my wishlist is available new anymore, that's unlikely to ever happen again.

v Which do you prefer, buying new or secondhand?

 

^ new, although it's full price there's no chance of any breakages or chance of the doll being a recast. I don't mind buying second hand but I just prefer to buy new to be on the safe side.

^ I am actually not too fussed as long the second-hand doll came from a good home.

^ Gotten better at face-ups. I'm really proud of the work I do at this point. My highlight was at NY Dolpa, and having the Volks staff *delighting* over Christian and his goatee. That really made me happy.

But really, at Dollism 14 when I met Dollmore and they recognized and knew who Alex was - that was probably it.

^ Whenever i pose my boy Rai with his girlfriend who belongs to my penpal, he always ends up either groping her chest and/or butt, or his hands fall and end up attempting to remove her clothes. He's a perv.

< The highway was completely covered in black ice....a 2 hour trip became 4+

v What is your ideal size of doll? Why do you prefer that size?

 

^ I like MSDs and smaller. Anything bigger than that is just... too big?

< My only doll right now is just a floating head. I'm not expecting their body until about mid-January and I don't have anything picked out for them, and yet here I am, already seriously planning a younger sibling for my very unfinished doll...

v Have you ever seen a sculpt and immediately thought "I HAVE to have it?" Did you end up getting the doll?

 

^ That was Lu-wen all over for me. I saw that doll and immediately went OH MY GOD I NEED THAT. And I got it. And I still have him.

v What was the worst doll-related "disaster" you've ever had?

 

^ I've been fortunate/careful enough to avoid any major disasters so far (I hope I haven't just jinxed myself!), however, getting Ed's original head was an ordeal and a half, at least! It's probably up there on the list of disastrous group orders, and is only redeemed by the fact that we did, eventually, all get our heads, but only at the threat of sending the police to the GO runner's house due to the fact that she had technically committed theft of over $1000 worth of property. (It was interesting to see how fast things changed from "Oh I'm her friend, she doesn't have internet at all and she's sick and she can't get a ride and and and and" to "I'm here I'm sending things out I'm on my way to the post office right now oh God please don't call the police here are your tracking numbers" when there was a countdown clock put on her.)

< There are no words to describe how nice it was tonight to spend time just making dinner, and know I have time to go clean up afterward, because I don't have homework anymore to work on and am not starting my job search until after Christmas. It's just wonderful.
