^ Willow is too delicate to be run down by a mass of people carrying discounted toasters, but Thusa is definitely the one to be leading the mob.

^ For the OCs, they have their own holidays that don't completely mirror the ones here. Gabriel grew up in the "real world," though, and does like to add a little Christmas to his own celebration of winter holidays. For the fan dolls, not all of their backstories have holidays fully fleshed out, sadly, but since winter holidays are a practically universal thing, I think they do have something not too terribly dissimilar to Christmas/Solstice, and while in the past they may not have really cared, now that they've got a larger family all together, they have a nice celebration for everyone every year.

^ Depends on the doll. Going off the ones in my icon, Ed probably really likes sci fi action movies, and Jace would lean more toward epic fantasy like Lord of the Rings. They'd both go with the other to whatever movie he picked out, though.

v What's the average weekend like for your doll/s?

 

^ Jes' average weekend involves private mage studies with her buddy the Prince, a good handful of espionage, and maybe some cupcakes.

< I hate it when jeans are freshly washed and they're just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit too tight. They'll feel fine in a couple hours but right now it's like I've got a girdle on.

v Are your dolls more likely to torture themselves for the sake of fashion or wear sweats all the time?

 

^ Depends. Mara and Mike will always go for style over comfort, and so will Chris (as long as there are people watching). Katie couldn't care less. Lauren somehow manages to look fashionable in anything.

v Something breaks in your dolls' house. What is it and what do they do?

 

^ Willow would definitely punish herself for the sake of fashion, she needs to be the center of attention.

^ A few years ago during a photoshoot, Dimitrius fell over outside and broke off his ear and 2 fingers. I blame myself, but it was totally his fault, lol.

^ Pretty sure they don't actually care, honestly.

^I think currently my Volks elf boy. Because I find him simply beautiful, have a thing for his ears and love how easy it is to pose and play with him.

^ aqua sports of all sorts.

^ At the moment, yes. Shia is wearing jeans and a tank top, even though his character is supposed to be from a more medieval fantasy-ish world. I do intend to remedy that, eventually...

^ Just the usual lack of funds. X3 And being frustrated that I finally figured out why I needed a Souldoll Giselle now that she's well and truly gone. *headdesk*

^ How about decided but can't buy it? I had plans to buy two specific dolls this year, but those got derailed heavily by a bunch of limited dolls that fit so perfectly with my collection that I couldn't pass them up, so the standards got pushed back... I also have a specific body style I'm after for one of my floating heads, but it's a SOOM body, so... y'know... SOOM....

^ My FL Sia/LTF Rachel and Lishe could count! They're going to be arriving today (I just have to go pick them up after presentations), but I hadn't expected them until closer to Christmas, if not after. I don't think I'll be ordering anything else before Christmas, maybe after though, if I get a new job...

^ Only in terms of getting all dolled up. I usually take at least one seasonal pic of the whole crew (except those who still haven't got their proper bodies), and sometimes I take a doll along to the parents' for xmas.

< owch. Messed up my left shoulder somehow and not a clue how. And I'll have to be at work again in half an hour and won't get out until 9pm.

^ I don't do much for the holidays so I'm no help to them. I think Willow would just decorate with a lot of attention to detail, Phae and Thusa would probably celebrate for food and gifts only, and Alsea would probably get into the spirit fully with the intent to make it a "family" event.

v how long do you work on a backstory for your characters?

 

^ I have no set "time limit" for working on a character's back story. Sometimes they come to me in a burst of inspiration and sometimes they take quite a bit more effort, so I guess I'd have to say it varies from literally a few minutes to years. Because my characters are dynamic, I'm always "discovering" details about their pasts as well; not necessarily things that change their back story, but things that add depth and three-dimensionality to the characters and fix them in my mind as "real people"

V How does your doll/character celebrate their birthday?

 

^ Emie and Ilari don't even know when their birthdays are. Emie, since she was raised out in the woods by wolves, and Ilari since his mother died the same day he was born (totally not in childbirth btw) and his dad wasn't gonna celebrate that. Lorina's (not really her birthday, but actually the day her 'brother' found her) is generally celebrated with a nice meal and presents. Ilari was a present!

v How well do your favorites get along with their families?

 

^ Christian is best friends with his sister June and brother Oliver. (Of course he loves his daughter ridiculously.)

^ Keith would want to go to any good bar and grill, and would probably order the biggest burger they have, with a side of fries.

^ All my dolls have characters/personalities; I very rarely purchase/plan to purchase dolls that don't have a character pre-attached to them. I find it keeps the wishlist under control.

< I...want to buy Tooru. Maybe just his head. But it is a BAD time to be thinking about purchasing anything doll-related.

v How good are you at putting "practical" purchases above BJD ones?

 

^ I'm pretty good at it, I haven't bought anything for them for a couple months...not by choice though, I have no more money to spend. lol

v If you had to only keep one of your dolls, which one would it be and why?

 

^ Oh, what a cruel question. I love my MNF Chloe and NF14 equally, but NF14 was a limited event head so I would have to pick her. They are sisters and are my two favorite dolls (love at first sight for both sculpts).

^ Key, my Migidoll Ryu. Because as much as I love my others, there's just something about the Ryu face that I just fall for all over again almost every time I see it. ^^

v What does your doll's character do to relax after work/school?

 

^ Read. He loves stories. Fairy tales, classic literature, poetry, etc.

< Watching Xena. It's one of those shows that you don't have to pay full attention to. It's nice to listen to in the background.

v What was the inspiration for the backstory of your first doll?

 

^ The backstory for the majority of my dolls are part of a story I've been writing and hope to publish one day

^ it would be the Fairyland Fairy Line Sia Full Option Package because I am kicking myself for ordering only the basic human with no faceup. I love her faceup, I love her tail, I love her full set. I'm so bummed out.

^ He wasn't a Limited... just one I waffled about a little too long... But I really wish I'd figured out just how much I wanted a UniDoll Ark before the company went under. That grumpy sour-puss is "the one that got away" for me.

< It feels cold in here, even though the thermostat says it's the same temp it always is. Where'd I leave that sweater... sheesh.

^ Any kind of mod to the Resinsoul Hooved SD boy body upper thigh-to-hip joint. I've sueded my guy, strung him a million different ways, wired him, and he still wont stand properly because the legs make him lean back awkwardly...

v Do you have hilarious christmas/holiday attire for your dolls? (my friends and I put mine in ugly sweaters and hats :P )

 

^ I've collected a few ugly sweaters for the minis from Michaels. Their Christmas section has given me good ones two years in a row, now! The boys are the ones unfortunate enough to get stuck in them; the girls actually have been getting some lovely holiday dresses.

< Speaking of those, I ought to get out their holiday dresses and put them on the girls again, while there's still time left in December. Maybe if I can finish two of my three papers tomorrow, I'll treat myself to that.

^ I want an SD-scale dollhouse, complete with furnishings and lighting and a yard area outside of it.

^Actually yes! One of my friends I had worked with found out through a mutual friend that I had a bjd and we ended up talking about them forever. It was thanks to her that I ended up getting more into the hobby and the social scene, met my best friend and let my doll hobby blossom into the obsession I have today!

^ oh wow. I think I don't really have a list right now. I have a doll incoming who might need some work (just a new faceup), I have a head incoming that needs a body which is moving up on my priorities. I will have goggles to make. Mostly they need clothes and things I have to have made or buy because I can't. Other props and backgrounds but they're all just kind of floating around on a non-list. I'm also in the process of trying to determine a large chunk of my dolls that I might be ready to let go of...so that needs to be sorted out.I should make a list. I usually have one.

^ Oh lord... 26 faceup/blushing combos (a mix of "You're blank" and "You desperately need refreshing"), two sets of mods that need finishing, and tons of outfits that need to be designed/made or found/purchased (and that's not even touching on the shoes, eyes, and wigs that need ordering... or a few more dolls for a few more characters who don't have shells yet).

< I hope once I'm done with laundry I can settle down and crank out all three of these papers I need to do so they're off my plate! Gotta remember the homework assignment due tomorrow, too.

^ Knit, knit, knit, sew, sew, sew, and save like mad for bodies and heads. I am actually caught up on face-ups for the moment, and while I'd like to re-do and refresh a couple, they aren't so bad as to be "need to do NOW."

< Yet here I sit at the computer instead of at the sewing machine. Good job, that.

v Do you set minor rewards for banging out a chunk of the dolly to-do list? (Example: I finally finished Lord Fancy-Pants proper formal dress outfit and wig! Time to go buy that new set of eyes for Doll the Second!)

 

^ I wish i could, but i don't have a credit card so i can't. I totally would though, as I've been trying to sew some shirts for my dolls and i feel like i'm going to need to reward myself for finishing them.

v Do you have any musical instrument props for your dolls?

 

^ I don't, actually, but I've found one or two in stores that have tempted me.

v How do your dolls stay warm when it's cold out?

 

^ All kinds of ways. Sitting in front of the fire (with or without a warm drink of some sort), warm jackets or sweaters, or cuddling up with a loved one. I hope that soon I'll have more time to make props and clothes for cozy photos like that.

v What's your favorite photo prop you're find for your dolls?

 

^ It would haven to be my mini easel, I just love the artsy look it gives.

^ I'm not entirely sure, however I would like to try taking pictures of them at the botanical gardens one day

v What are your top 3 doll companies and why?

 

^ Volks--There really is just something magical about them. A lot of careful planning and love has gone into their design, from the weight, resin colors, jointing, sculpts, styling, etc. and it does show. Souldoll--Easily my other favorite company. They have had a really different but gorgeous look about them, and so distinct even among the huge number of companies we have now. I was feel like they're a bit under-rated. Doll Chateau-- Say what you will about their look, they are some of the most elegantly sculpted dolls that I've seen, and incredibly well-engineered. I'm eager to bring more of them home.

v Let's keep the love going--what are your top 3 doll companies and why?

 

^ CP/FairyLand. I resisted them for a long time (other than my little Puki, who was impressive but not enough to get me to bjy more dolls from them), but LTFs were cute and the launch event for the line put them in my price range, so I decided to go for it. And then I completely fell in love with the engineering, started to find an appreciation for the sculpts, and somehow ended up with them being the largest representation in my collection by far. DollPamm. Super unique sculpts, not like anything I've seen elsewhere, and the friendliest service I've ever gotten from a company! It feels like there's a lot of joy and passion for sculpting something outside the norm in the designs, too. I'm definitely curious to keep watching what comes out of that company! And it's hard to choose #3, because I have so many companies represented, but I think I'm going to give it to ResinSoul, because they're affordable dolls that are much cuter than the company photos suggest, and they're so willing to take on crazy requests. Custom colors? Sure! Want just a few random parts? No problem! Transparent? Heck yeah! Their flexibility makes me want to do all kinds of crazy customizations and aesthetics looks, because of all the possibilities they're offering up.

v It's a fun question so I'll pass it down one more time: Top 3 doll companies and why?

 

^ In what little experience I've garnered in the past year and a half, here's what I've got:
★ Mystic Kids - My first ever BJD came from MK, and I've just fallen head-over-heels for him. They're one of the cheaper options out there, great for first-time collectors, but they don't skimp on the details even a little. Plus, their Normal Pink resin is incredibly pink, and I actually really like that,
★ Asleep Eidolon - Since I'm still waiting on my AE twins (seven months and counting since the order), I don't have any first-hand experience with them, but their face sculpts are so precious that I'm willing to look past that. With their expressive faces and big, doe-like eyes, I just really like their overall aesthetic, and I'm super excited to have my very own.
★ DollZone - I'll admit, it's their more unique creature dolls that get me every time. Whenever DZ has an event going on, I just have to check it out, even if I don't have any money to spare. For my birthday this year, some of my friends got together and got me a Big Dipper, and I've never been happier with a non-human doll. She is gorgeous.

< My sister is complaining to me about how little money she has... I feel you, girl. I really do.

v Do any of your dolls share your same hobbies?

 

^ Dave and Kiyo are both musicians like yours truly. In my headcanon Dave is a fantastic singer but it isn't a very ironic talent so he doesn't use it very often. Canonly Kiyo actually has a decent voice, although he's no opera singer.

< It never fails to baffle me how a shirt can actually be TOO BIG in the chest for me. I'm a goddamn 38H for chrissakes, how can that not be big enough?

v Female doll bustlines -- large, small, or in between?

 

^ In between to small, because otherwise there's too big of a possibility of clothes not fitting the doll

^ Three specific ones, actually -- and you can see 'em in my sig.

^ I only own bought acrylics ... and I tend to make them myself, using sculpey / Fimo, acrylic paint, and various nail supplies (which I bought specifically for doll eyes, not nail stuff). So I'm probably not the best person to ask

< OMG. I witnessed a social experiment in a 6th grade today - the one where each kid gets toothpaste and is told to squeeze it all out, then once that's done is supposed to try and get it back inside. 20 faces going "WTF" in perfect synch. Godlike.

^ Urethane (yes I do love glittery eyes!!), but I do like a really nice glass.
