Materials The type of resin for joints

Jun 20, 2020

    1. For those who sculpt small scaled dolls.

I am wondering what is the best resin that can withstand a lot of torque. I am looking to cast 1/12 scale ball joints, and I tried milliput but it was too brittle. I also have smooth on quick set resin, but have seen beautiful clear resins and UV resins (such as the epoxy resins from Sophie and Toffee). I also have two types of thermo plastics as well as cosclay. I have also seen people use boat resin, but not for dolls.

    2. I'm not sure I understand the first part. Milliput is an epoxy putty, not resin.
The type of BJD that are on topic for this forum is cast in polyurethane resin.

It is fully possible to cast a doll in something like acrylic, polyester or epoxy resin as well. Each have their own properties.
