After being disappointed by various action figures/dolls in the 1/6 scale I decided to finally take the plunge into making my own bjd with the proportions and mobility I've been looking for. The two pictures below show the progress of a week of sculpting and drying with air-dry stone clay. The final doll will be made into a much stronger material such as resin. I'm going to refine the chest to look a little more natural but I'm really happy with what I have so far. I'm using a lot of references staying to true 1/6 adult proportions and will be saving the hands and head for last since they will require the most amount of work to get right. The current plan is to sculpt the entire body before I chop it up to incorporate the joints into the doll. I can say it's been a really enjoyable process!
