I haven't been very good at documenting my works-in-progress in the past, so in an effort to be better about that I thought I would start at the beginning this time and hopefully track things better I have done a little work on the body and arms for these already, but I don't have any photos so I will have to take some tomorrow at my shop, but meanwhile, here are a couple of the concept sketches for some dolls I am working on. They are meant to be sort of my mascot for my business since I am The Mushroom Peddler after all lol :p They will probably be around... oh, maybe 4ish inches tall and will have changeable eyes. Here are a few more sketches. My scanner wouldn't work so I had to take photos and so they didn't come out as clean, but this will give you the feel of a few more possible designs.
This is such a great idea, Sarah !!! I really love the mushrooms in Disney's Fantasia. This is such a departure from your anthro-dollies. I am looking forward to seeing all of the steps in how you develop a BJD! Best wishes.
Oh my goodness I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread!! All your creations are so flipping dangerous for me! They both look amazing!
Aw! I particularly like the one on the left - Those floppy ears and little fangs! Are you making one body for both of them, or two?
I can't wait to see more progress on these~ They're SO CUTE! And what unique designs, too. I may have to buy one, should you ever have them available for sale in the future. Until then, I'll watch their progress with glee. X3
Their faces are adorable. I really like the concept art, but will they have joints at the knees? Are you going to give the one the left jointed ears as well?
Thanks everyone I added another concept sketch to the main post. Devilfloss: They will probably all have the same body, but not sure yet. Some may have tails too. Arabidopsis: I haven't decided yet how articulated they will be yet. I will have to figure that out as I sculpt My larger dolls have full articulation and I am thinking of making these ones simpler, but I may decide to go all out.
I can't wait to see them. I love the concept drawings. Especially the fanged one. The tail one is cute too.
Had a squee moment ^___^ Apart from the iconic sorts of mushroom like the button-kinds and the flat tops, there's such a huge range of beautiful shapes and colours to play with. Damn you, MisticUnicorn. Now I want to draw mushroom people all day.
lol Thanks everyone! I am glad they are as appealing to others as they are to me I will try to get some photos of my progress today at my workshop.
My gosh these are cute concept drawings. LOVE the little one with the pigtails! She's so adorable. Can I just take her home and plant her in my garden??
Here are a couple of photos of what I have so far. Not too impressive yet since I am just making the basic form right now, but here you go I took the photos next to other dolls for size reference. The legs are not baked yet since I still have to do a lot of work on them and the body and arms need refining still. This is so little and tricky to work with lol But so fun! Next to a Pukipuki Next to one of my Wonderlings (Hoot the Owl)
They are still in progress I delayed them for a bit to be able to work on my doll Willow at http://www.denofangels.com/joints/showthread.php?5178-Willow-Imp-in-progress
Am working on these little ones again. Not sure they will be done very soon though. Lots of things going on all the time these days.
Thanks I have been so busy with everything in my life that they have been put on a back burner again for a bit. No progress pics yet though. I will post some as soon as I get them.
Ohhh these guys are precious. I love them! They're going to look so great with my other little fantasy guys when they're finally out for release as well hehe... Seriously though, great work so far! Love their little legs the most!
