The most expensive thing you've bought for your doll

Dec 2, 2016

    1. Hi,

What's the most expensive thing you've bought for your doll? Not just limited to clothes or accessories. Maybe an expensive curio cabinet to keep your dolls in? Maybe you could post a picture of the said item as well, I'd like to see these fancy things we pamper out dolls with. I just started the hobby and haven't got anything for my doll yet so I'm curious to see how you pamper your dollies.

      Thanks!

    2. An airbrush and compressor for faceups. It's never been used... I just got my craft room organized so I can set it up, and now we're moving soon so it hardly seems worth putting it all together just to tear it down again.
      Ah well. Someday...

    3. My whole doll room to be how it is, cost around $400. From storage cube units (8) to the plastic bins, fabric bins to store everything. To furniture for them, seating and display pieces, as well as the props, rugs and boards to level the spaces. It was well worth it though.

    4. Jono's guitar was 160 USD before shipping. I think that's probably the most I've spent on a single doll item. It's a pretty awesome prop, I must admit. He also has a guitar case for it, which was 60 dollars. I bought them together.

    5. A DSLR, bought mainly to take pictures of dolls.

    6. 90 dollars for one outfit would have been to much to me, but now I'm looking at outfits that are 160!xD But hey, I don't spend much money, don't even buy morning coffee or dinner out like most people, so why not spend the extra money I make on something like dolls! After I have enough to get two dolls the next thing I'm saving up for is a ton of clothing and fabric so I can make them some too! I'm also eying a little mini book shelf and couch....

So yeah, I really don't have much now, but my guess is the clothing or furniture sets will be the most expensive. That might change though if I want a better camera to take pictures of them.

    7. I spent over $500 remodeling a bedroom into a doll room with deep shelves for permanent dioramas, plus the money on all the little props and such.

On a single thing, $200 on Dhani's wedding suit and $100 on Luc's compound bow that has been nothing but frustration every step of the way.

    8. So far it's a $100 burgundy stuffed Victorian chair I got from a fellow collector for my 70cm boys!

    9. The most expensive single item I've bought my dolls was more practical, I guess-- it would have to be the pink MSD carrier bag. None of my individual outfits/extra body parts/furniture/props has been as expensive as the carrier.

    10. Um...a $400 onepiece which comes with a wig. It's really like wedding dress but not exactly.

    11. Hmmm... A classic, victorian style telephone table and seater (dark wood with wine red carpet, in really good condition), which was 50 pounds (near $63) and my camera, which was 250 pounds (near $318) around a year ago, but I want to buy a better camera to learn photography (it's halfway: also for me and for my dolls).

    12. So far, the most expensive single thing I ever bought for one of my dolls was a custom-made "Red Alice" dress (as I call it). This here (striped hat by me, dress by Amaeta, socks and shoes from Taobao):

It cost me - what was it, 150 Euros I think and it's worth every single cent.

    13. That's a very realistic looking guitar. Super cool!

I love the fabric of the dress and it's a cery lovely color too. Is the corset made of leather?

    14. Thanks. The red is awesome! :) The corset is made of faux leather - it can be laced in the back so you don't have to fiddle with the tiny straps.

    15. It's not here yet, but I recently commissioned a 170 USD wig from Amadiz Studio. It's a little scary because I don't know what it even looks like, I just hope it turns out perfect. I have owned dolls cheaper that that, after all.

    16. I bought a room box and furniture and I got her an eve cat. The room box with furniture and accessories was probably close to $300 and the eve cat was almost $500. In honestly, part was paid as Christmas gifts but most expensive by far.

    17. So far the most I've paid for a single doll item has been forty-seven bucks for a white kanzashi. Those things don't appear to be widely available for ball-jointed dolls so I bought it. There have been other orders that cost more, but those orders were for two or more things at once (eyes and the like).

I am currently eyeing a seventy-dollar wa-lolita dress, though. So soon I may have a better answer for this question!

    18. I have purchased three miniature park benches for my doll family - one that fits my MSDs and two for my SD-and-over sized dolls. All three totaled up at about $75.

    19. Currently it's a 45 dollar wig- but I'm just getting the basics at the moment. I'm already eyeing up some more expensive stuff to get in a week or so (a set of chalk pastels for faceups and a long, luxurious wig for 90 dollars). I'm sure I'll find some gorgeous outfits or shoes to spend even more on eventually but that's all for now :)

    20. Why was the dress so expensive? Because it was custom made?

    21. My most expensive doll item is an outfit for about 60usd. But I'm hoping to gets some wigs soon which will probably be double that.

Oh I'm hoping to get a wig from amadiz studio soon. Would you be able to let me know what it's like when you get it? :)

    22. Yes, custom-made to fit that specific body and it's also got very nice little details that don't come out in that crappy pic, plus the fabric and quality are awesome (like how the seams are finished and the dress is made as a whole - I'd consider it a professional sewing level)! Good quality got its price and I'm happy to pay it. :)

    23. Another doll. LOL!
My dollmore trinity doll wanted her own dolls so I bought two little ones that came to more than $500.

(I'm selling them now because it was a total impulse buy. :sweat)

    24. i bought some jewelry (a necklace!) from my favourite brand while i was in the carribbean on vacation with my family for my first SD boy, whose body i didn't have at that point, so the scale is off. so it's mine now, i suppose, but i'm planning on getting it remade in a smaller size so that it's in scale with him and then we can match~~ ^0^
he's my grail and he's soooo spoiled, i don't buy him anything unless it's expensive basically. @___@
by the time i'm done with him i think everything about him will be custom made orz

i'd love to make a doll room, bu i just don't have the space, i really envy you guys who do..!! *_*

    25. I see. I want to show you my custom made doll clothes which is the most expensive so far I bought for my doll. However, I have problem for linking the photo. Actually, I have not success for the photo thing /_\

It's a cloak with beading just like the Phantom of the Opera.

    26. So far the most expensive thing I have purchased for my dolls was a 55 dollar outfit. I'm sure I'll end up buying something more expensive down the line. The room box I want has been calling my name for some time now :sweat

    27. An older brother.

Generally, the most expensive things I buy for my dolls are other dolls!

This sofa from Volks. It was about $350, but it's so beautiful for photos~

    29. most expensive so far is the doll its self haha, but she will have more stuff in the future

    30. Well, maybe the custom made oak armoire at $150, or maybe my Iplehouse Carina's sapphire and 14K gold necklace, or the ruby I glued into Lahela's bellybutton? I don't know the prices on the jewelry, as the stones were bought many years ago.

    31. expensive fancy doll jewelry? much approval from me~
by any chance do you remember where you got the jewelry made? i'm looking for some custom in-scale fancy stuff for one of my boys :o

    32. Oh, sure, my next door neighbor made it, she is a professional silversmith. I can give you her contact info if you want.

    33. Spent $250 on a leather coat. It's perfect and I love it.

    34. Buying my SD couple and Yo-SD couple matching outfits from Dollheart was my most expensive purchase for the dolls. The four outfits cost just under 500$, one of them being a limited edition Dollheart Fer.

    35. I bought Cardinal (EID Tedros) for Kestrel (my EID Bibiane).

    36. Freedom Teller suits. x_x those are the death of me

    37. Most expensive aside from my 75cm boys, is a new sewing machine and most recently a new serger to make them an entire wardrobe.

    38. I think the most expensive thing for my dolls, would be a ooak outfit from yahoo auctions. Got into a bidding war and paid around $ 400 for it. I don't regret it, it's still my favorite outfit <3

    39. By far the most expensive thing I've bought my dolls is both Luts Delf Schahriar outfits, at a cost of over $200 with shipping, even doing them both in group orders. (And both were purchased individually, since one was out of stock when I grabbed the other. And both went on sale a week after the GO orders went in.) But man, do the boys I bought them for look good together in them. :)

    40. Not counting the cost to set up the doll room with lots and lots of shelves, I have gotten a couple of antique beds at just under a hundred each, but they are big enough to fit a couple of SD size dolls. The mid century kitchen was $100, but it is in the appropriate scale for these same SD's. Really I do NOT want to think about the total cost of my doll rooms in the doll room.

    41. I feel so poor now since the most expensive thing I have bought is probably $30 pastel chalk set. I opt to make everything myself but I'm a potato when it comes to sewing.

    42. I'd love to see pictures of these <3

My minifee girls have a huge amount of clothes that are easily worth over $500, and that's being conservative.
I can't think of one piece or one thing in particular that was a whole lot of money, though. I tend to be good at finding good deals. Even the doll furniture I've gotten has been wonderfully priced.

    43. I haven't bought objects for my dolls yet but I do find myself buying super expensive fabrics for making their clothes....easily spent £100+ on just fabrics for them >.> xD

    44. I must know where you got these little dolls! :aeyepop:

    45. The most expensive things I've bought (other than other dolls) are probably limited outfits at around $100- $150 each. I also commissioned a wig for just under $100. So nothing super, super expensive but way more than I ever thought I'd spend on outfits or wigs when I started this hobby!

    46. I got them from Junky Spot. They are Limhwa dolls. 27cm. :)

      • x 1
    47. Aaa, thank you so much <3

    48. All my dolls have animal spirit guides and the most expensive item I purchased was a poseable art doll from Creatures of Nat on etsy for $300.00. She is an amazing artist from Australia. She creates very realistic animals (some fantasy too).I would love to commission her to do more animals for me but I have limited funds right now. Sorry but I still have not been able to post pictures here yet.

    49. So far it's been a corset, skirt and underwear matching set that came up to around $40 if I remember correctly. It looks really good on her, so it was money well spent!

    50. Mine was a DSLR to shoot pictures of my crew, was around $700 but I also use it for other things as well, not just for my dolls! Although they were the main reason behind getting it... ;)

    51. I don't know if this count but mine is probably the new face-up I commissioned for her. It's not an object but still very expensive haha.
Second most expensive would be ED urethane eyes!

    52. Looking back at my spreadsheet (yes... I have one for all things dolly) it was an older Luts outfit I bought secondhand. "The Lizard Queen"
Since I am lacking any full body shots on this computer of my girl in hers, here is the company photo:

I wish they still made outfits like this. I have the boy version as well, along with another one called "Dusty Wind" that was a close second in most expensive item.
I think at one point I sold off the most expensive item I had. It was a very pretty dress, also from Luts (the one they show IF in).

    53. That sofa is fabulous!!

    54. Magician cloth set from Soom. it costs me $400 AUD*_*

    55. Does buying a doll a friend of a sibling count?

If we're talking strictly clothes or accessories, then probably clothing sets. I have a few that cost around $130 a piece. Mostly older DollHeart stuff. In general, I don't spend that much on clothes anymore unless I'm completely certain it's something the character is going to be using long term or is fundamental to their wardrobe.

    56. I bought my doll the complete outfit for RingDoll Carlos. That was $225 with the boots.
I also just bought a craft table with cubbies to put my dolls up away from my dog.
I will also be buying a sewing machine as well.
My dolls are going to ruin me.

    57. Gosh, I hope not, I bought one of my dolls an entire family....

    58. Oh, that's an easy question, a wig xD I spent around 150$ on that high-quality custom-made wig, and I don't regret it at all!

    59. For now, the LUTS KDF Brio set! The colors and angel theme were absolutely perfect for my OC that I plan to shell, and since it was limited edition I actually ended up ordering clothes before the doll itself, pfft!
