The highest/riskiest spot you've put your bjd

Jan 1, 2009

    1. I went out today and did a little photo shoot with my Lati Yellow, I took a risk for a picture and placed her on a tree, on a very cold and windy day, and the branches were very thin and frail. I also placed her on a wire/mesh fence, she did fall from there and her shoe, sock, wig and head cap came off, but not a scratch.

What's the highest place you've put your doll on/at, and did it get any injuries from falls?

    2. Uh...My doll is fearless o.o; I don't know how many dangerous places I've put Luel. He's been on high shelves, in trees, by water...

on a window...you can see he's only standing on his heels...

    4. Another tree-photo xD The bush was in a concrete planter about 2 feet above the ground, and where I put her in the bush was another foot-or-so above the ground... It didn't seem that high because she was still below eye level. Just after I took this photo she slid forwards and... :o Well there were no injuries other than her hand popped off. (and I nearly had a heart attack) xD

    5. I put Dice up on an elevated railing overlooking Mount Fuji. (red arrow shows the snow-capped peak)
The wind was blowing pretty hard!
And later on, Mount Fuji itself! Wind, you can see was almost close to really knocking his wig right off. But I prayed and snapped a quick pic anyway! Haha XD
      [IMG]
The latter one, though its not apparent, is really risky because he was basically sitting on a wooden pole that dangled us over the edge of the mountain side.

    8. This is definitely the worst I've done. He was up in a tree that was a good 6'+ off the ground above a bunch of limestone rocks. My husband was out with me to play catcher in case he decided to take a fall. XD He was safely in a net of vines.

      These are old pictures, but...

On an overpass, near the University of Minnesota...this was a pretty dangerous shot, I admit! He didn't fall, though. That doll took a couple bad spills in his life with me, but he never fell off any overpasses, I promise.

Looking out over the mighty Mississippi. This picture looks terrible, but I was supporting him with my entire arm, so he wasn't in any danger.

One day I am definitely going to take a doll to the top of a skyscraper...

    11. I put my Lishe, Antaliya, up on a jungle gym one time. I was a good foot above my head, so it was about 7 feet, and I was joking with my friend that it looked pretty, and she was having fun while I was having a heart attack.

The pictures turned out nice, but I probably wouldn't do it again. I was really scared of her losing her balance, as it was a little windy.

I am such a chicken when it comes to taking pictures, I am sure my dolls are going to fall over just standing on solid ground >_< the most risky shot I took was in Devil's Den here in Gettysburg and you can't really tell from the picture but the rock that my Gwynedd is standing on was about as tall as I am. My boyfriend actually took the pictures and I leaned back enough to not be in the but still standing next to the rock. Good thing I did because it was windy and she did fall forward, but I was able to grab her before she went down. I managed to get brush burn up and down my arms from the rock though *^^*

    20. The highest I've put Newt was atop the St. Augustine light house. googled pic
It's 165 feet high, but I don't know how high it is at the railing...
I sat her on the rail (never let her go though LOL), and stood her against the wall for a quick pic.

I had planned to stand, or at least sit, her near the rail and get a pic, but two things stopped me:
      1) It was super windy that day, and
      2) it was very crowded. Not to mention a majority of the crowd was my sister's 5th grade class, and a handful of them were fascinated with Newt :sweat
But, the very next lighthouse I visit I will get a shot of her near the rail

Highest place she's been alone? Tree, up about 7ft, as I stood under her and took pictures lol

Danny: Always at my grandmothers, I put him up high. Sorry you can't really tell how high the height is from these, but I'll say aprox. Height.

Well, first off, in my icon. I had to climb up that thing. Probaly about...20 feet up. At least.

      About 4 feet up.

3 feet, nothing but his loose strung arms supporting him actuaklly, since his feet weren't touching it.

      Probaly 3.7 feet up.

      And My Ani:
Probaly about 5 feet, since the branch was almost as tall as I am, and I'm about 5'2.(Yes...I'm short -___-) But only a TWIG was supporting her, and I was shocked she stayed. <3

Ok, I'll stop spamming you guys now! ^^

    26. In this picture, Kaleb was a good eight feet off the ground. I'm about 5'10", I had to step up onto the roots that were grown out and then reach over my head to place him. He was well placed though, so I wasn't worried~
      [IMG]

This tree was small - He's only maybe four feet off the ground, but he wasn't supported well. And with all the kids playing and running around, I was a little nervous...

I think where he was in this tree was just about six feet up...But I held him, because there wasn't any way for him to support himself.

I was directly in front of her, hoping to catch her if she fell. Looks like she's pretty far, but she wasn't: if she had fallen she would have bonked her head on that cluster of slate then rolled right into the waterfall. O_O When my new tiny arrives, she''ll be up in trees nad practically IN the pond, so I'll have to be more careful. :)

Me and my friend were taking pictures of my dolls in a burned-down building last summer.
I made Joy sit there, and I was all "Don't you dare fall!" the whole time. It was something like... Uh... 10 to 15 meters from the ground? Well it was high. very high. And if she had fallen, it would've been really difficult to get down there to get her back. (It was really difficult to move around with all those broken doorways and ceiling materials on the way..)

What's funny is, out of everywhere they've been, the only times they've taken damage has been from falls from the same level. -__-;; Fifty feet in the air? No problem! Sidewalk? Faceplant! >__<

    47. I've got a few! ^_^ First off, the Chinese Elm outside!

Looking out, I was holding onto an ankle for this one. About 7 feet up (I was in the tree as well).

My poor boy! I reached out and set him on a distant branch, held on by nothing but his thighs and a tiny branch I put in his hand. This is about 9-10 feet up! Though he did NOT fall, if he decided too, I wouldn't have been able to save him because I was busy trying to keep MYSELF in the tree. And to top it all off; WIND, LOTS OF IT.

And now lets move inside to my bedroom! I'm on the second floor, but I still reach higher!

Here's Nika on the edge of my bed... about 7 feet up. XD I sleep on a loft bed! The celling in my room is about 10 feet, and you can see the ceiling in this shot.

And my scariest shot! Nika hanging from the chandelier in my room! D: It was for New Years and I thought, "He's got strong wire, lets hang him up by one leg over a hard wood floor!" His left foot is touching the 10 foot high ceiling. o_o Here, I'm sitting on my bed (from the previous picture) and there's a ton of blankets and pillows below him. Again, you can see the ceiling, and for referance, that shelf behind him is about 7 feet tall! XD

Okay, I haven't done anything too hazardous since the tree pics, so the end!

What scared me about this shot, as you can see, is the river below. If he'd fallen, I don't think I'd ever have found him. I can stand in that river and not get caught in the current, but Kirk's a lot smaller and lighter than I am :) So that's why I have him sitting instead of standing...not that confident :sweat

    52. I'm back! For another round of dolly endangerment.

Feh, you can't even really tell, but what he's standing on is the balcony ledge above the canyon that makes up my grandparents' back yard. He's a good 2-3 stories above the ground.

Random deteriorating support beam holding up the porch roof and overlooking the beginning of the same canyon from the prior pic.

Dear gods I was nervous. He's been so unpredictable lately. But he stood there like a rock. <3

Not too risky, but certainly high! Playing in the rigging of the Star of India

Ok...not exactly a terribly risky spot. I'm a little nervous taking her outside since she has no long pants to guard her legs, so this was my first legit attempt to get her to stand (without her platforms, since she's been barefoot most of the time, anyway). She was able to stand pretty well, here, too. It's above my AC, and she stood so well, I was able to not really think about her falling when I left to go to the bathroom. She won't stand well on our dining room table; maybe because my windowsill isn't shiny, so she can't slip and slide around.

But once I finally get some pants for her, I'll see about actually 'risky' shots.

    55. While this one might not look to bad, this picture was literally taken in the middle of a river.

Probably the riskiest thing I've ever done.
Basically I stacked a bunch of flat rocks on top of eachother in this creek. Where I set the rocks, the waer was maybe 4 inches deep, but it was fast running over a drop of maybe 3 1/4-4 feet. The water took up at least 70% of that drop, and then continued to flow farther down at a steady pace.
So basically, I wasn't in danger of LOSING her, but it was possible that I would bring home a very wet, possibly broken doll.
LUCKILY, nothing happened. But to this day my friend that was with me still thinks I'm crazy for wanting this shot.

    58. Here is Michael standing in a tree. I could actually only reach to his waist, so his head was way above mine. I had to stand on tiptoe to place him on that branch.
