Large The Fountain (Vings Seira, Bimong Narin)

Jan 6, 2026

    1. Recently, I discovered these gardens not far away from my home, with a fountain that's perfectly-sized for 1/3 BJDs. So I had to bring my dolls here.

The entire photoshoot turned out fantastic. The full photo set is huge, so this is a "Best Of" selection.

Gael (in blue) is Vings68v.2 Seira. I sewed his kimono set. His second birthday is on January 9th, so this photoshoot celebrates it.
Hayk (in black) is Bimong Narin68 Grey. His kimono is from Volks.

To see the entire photoshoot, please visit my BJD blog here. The post is image-heavy, around 40 photos.

      (copied from my BJD blog)

It's currently summer, and sunrise was at 6.00am according to the local weather forecast. So I got up well before then so I could catch the best lighting on location -- between meteorological sunrise (where the sun starts to clear the horizon) and a practical sunrise for human activity.

Equipment is as described here. I packed the dolls the night before -- put a wig net over their wigs and heads, put each doll into a sleeping bag. My carrier held both dolls, a doll stand, and my maintenance kit (which I didn't use) -- about 4 - 4.5 kg in weight. I also had my camera bag, with the DSLR, water bottle, and bug spray. I walked to location on foot, around 1 kilometre.

Hayk had been getting unruly and not wanting to free-stand when at home, so I brought the doll stand and used it for all his standing poses. Gael is his usual reliable self: I have 100% confidence in his ability to free-stand, enough to briefly walk out of arm's reach to grab something from my bags, and then come back. No one fell over today.

I spent a bit over 2 hours here. It was early enough that no passersby came. The sun started coming up properly at around 7.45am, and the nearby trees gave the location the loveliest dappled light and small bokeh in the photos. I would've taken more photos, but the mosquitoes finally woke up and started eating me despite the bug spray. I still managed to get an outstanding set and I'm satisfied.

      Thank you for viewing!

    2. Gorgeous shots! Getting up early was worth it, the lighting on these is so beautiful. This is a photoshoot after my own heart, I love dolls out in nature, and these two look so nice in this environment. I hope Gael had a very happy second birthday!

    3. Lovely!
The dolls look so natural in their surroundings, it's easy to forget they are not full sized humans.
And I love that you shared some notes around the circumstances as well, it's always interesting to hear how people manage outdoor shoots in public spaces like this.

    4. Gorgeous pictures :D

    5. These are lovely! Your dolls look amazing! :daisy

    6. I like their clothing. It looks like they're relaxing after a formal event.

    7. Thanks everyone for the kind comments :aheartbea

@Oculae Thanks, I love outdoor doll photos too, always worth the effort. Especially the early morning ones -- getting up is a chore (I'm not a morning person at all, haha) but the photos always turn out splendid, so I never regret it.

@Lillith I'm glad that the dolls come across as natural! The fountain was the perfect height for 1/3 dolls. As for photoshoot notes, I think Behind-the-scenes are always fascinating to read, so I try to do it for my own photoshoots. I hope it gives a view into how things turned out. (And they're also reminders to myself about my experience.)

      @MintyCherry @RabbidBunnies Thank you!

@saraquill Thanks, I'm happy with their clothing colour scheme. It might be downtime after an event, or perhaps an early morning stroll together..

    9. @ffirehazard Thanks! They're a couple and they've turned out compatible ^^

    10. Your dolls are beautiful and the mood is so tranquil. I have two older Narins who look very different from yours. They’re in storage right now, but your photos are encouraging me to give them some much-needed attention!
