I like the cookie monster heads and all the gift making. Life is getting a bit more hectic these days but I'm checking in here each day to relax and smile at your picture story.
the girls spent the afternoon making wrapping paper chains first they cut up strips of double sided wrapping paper then worked in pairs to make long chains crystal and annalise made thin ones , cricket and dovey made fatter ones
I love Meg's sewing room, especially the sewing machine and dress maker's dummy. Where did you find them? My dolls definitely need a sewing studio, lol. They are always hanging out in mine.
the sewing machine is an our generation one (roughly american girl doll sized) i got on ebay a while back, most of the our gen sewing kit was too big, but the machine was about the right scale. my real one is about that big proportionately and when put on a different table works quite well. the dummy is a blythe sized one that you can usually find cheap on either ebay or etsy. i need to eventually make one big enough for meg, this one fits the little girls stuff
meg had some unexpected appointments today, so baking got postponed till monday. to wear off some steam the kids decided to have a dance party. they shoved the coffee table over and eilidh offered to man the record player things were going well till noah thought a pillow fight would be more fun, and poor little annalise got overwhelmed by all the noise...
the boys found to their dismay that their winter jackets were in the wash (don't ask ), but meg gave them a bunch of giant pompoms and let them have an indoor snowball fight. emrys drew the short straw and had to use the girls pink table as his fort, so he covered it with a blanket so no one could see. some of the shots went pretty wild, no real harm done though, and they had a lot of fun!
they are, we've done them with giant pompoms, cotton balls and rolled up white gym socks. all of which make nice soft "snow" balls and are great on days when you just can't get outside for some reason, or there is no snow
That is an adorable indoor snowball fight! Oh my yes! you can't have a manly fight behind a pink wall, lol.
for the last sunday of advent, dovey got to light the candle The fourth candle represents peace and is called the "Angel’s Candle." The angels announced that Jesus came to bring peace--He came to bring people close to God and to each other again.
I remember doing indoor snowball fights as a kid, since we don't get snow. You would find paper balls throughout the house for weeks afterwards. Good times...
we get snow, but it doesn't last long and often was too icy to make into snowballs, so indoor fights were a great alternative.
the girls got together to make the christmas cookies today meg got out their new aprons, then kiri and eilidh set up next they mixed the batter after they rolled out the dough the little ones cut out the cookies d i was going to take pretty pictures of the cookies they made, but unfortunately with so many kids in the house all that was left was a few crumbs
Lovely photos and everyone looks so good in their aprons. Too bad your cookies literally crumbled, lol. They look great in the making. Off to bake some biscotti this morning and Merry Christmas to you.
advent is almost over, we've made it through all 24 days, tomorrow is christmas! the girls carefully hung all the stockings on the fireplace for saint nick then went to bed, to try and sleep
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas would soon be there! Took two of my granddaughters to Christmas eve service. They loved singing carols and lighting candles. They were impressed by the bell ringers and ate too many cookies. Thanks for sharing this lovely photo story, I have enjoyed every frame. Off to celebrate with family this morning. Hope your day is blessed.
i'm glad you enjoyed it. sounds like a fun time with your granddaughters, hope you have a wonderful christmas
I hope your Christmas was full of wonder as well. Spent lots of time with all 12 of the grandkids over the course of 3 days. Doesn't get much better than that. All the girls received doll related items. The oldest got a book on flat pattern making for her dolls and we are both excited to explore that together. She is very artistic.
that sounds like a lot of fun was your granddaughters book specific to dolls or just flat pattern making in general?
It was specific to fashion dolls, ie barbie and is geared to young or beginnining sewers. Basic shapes with tips on constructing in flat for easier sewing. I will get the title next time she comes over if you are interested. If you enjoy pattern making for dolls my favorite is Fashion Doll Clothing by Rosemarie Ionker. It's out of print now so it's quite expensive, but it has patterns for 25cm, 40cm, and 56cm fashion dolls and I've found it quite easy to adapt to bjds. Her target audience was was Alexander, Tonner, and American Models. She is on the couture end of design and construction but she shows how she does her pattern work with lots of examples and patterns that are ready to use. If you find a used one snap it up. The patterns are bound in the book on the pages( you need to copy or trace) but that means they won't be lost. I paid around 25 when I bought mine they are triple or more now.
