      The Doll Affair
      Date: December 29, 2007 (Saturday)
      Time: 1 to 5 pm
Location: YMCA Function Room 2, 1 Orchard Road, Singapore 238824
Entrance fee: S$10 for Early Birds (closing date TBA) and S$12 at the door

We are proud to present you: Singapore's first BJD event -- The Doll Affair.

This being the first ever BJD event in Singapore -- in Southeast Asia, in fact -- we have prepared lots of attractive prizes for you! More details will be released in due course. :)

In addition, we have invited a series of overseas and local dealers selling various BJD clothing and items at the event, so here is your best chance to see the items in person before deciding whether to buy them! The complete list of dealer booths will be released after booth applications are closed.

Booth applications are currently by invitation only and will cost a fee. If you are interested in setting up a dealer booth, please email [email protected], and we will get back to you shortly! Please note that booth applications are subject to approval due to space constraint.

For overseas visitors and booth dealers, we accept payment by Paypal in Singapore dollars.

Please visit our website for more information, and feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

      Thank you for viewing! :daisy

      Cheers,

      Public Relations Team

    2. How much does it cost to attend the event? I'm from Malaysia anyway.

    3. Entrance fee will be SG$10 for early bird registration and SG$12 on the day itself ^^

    4. Is there accommodation nearby and how far is the venue from the airport? I might juggle some flights around and see if I can't make it; its cheaper for me to fly to singapore than most cities in australia anyway.

    5. How large is the event (number of booths) and how many people do you expect to attend? How big is the Singaporean BJD community?

    6. Yes, there are a lot of hotels and hostels for you to choose from in the vicinity. YMCA (where the event will be held) is located along Orchard Road, the heart of the city and our main shopping district, and as such, is very accessible and convenient whether by public transport or car. It is also within walking distance to City Hall, another popular shopping district with a wide range of hotels and restaurants. (You might like to visit this website for more information.)

A train ride from the airport to the station nearest the event (Dhoby Ghaut) would take approximately 40 minutes. It should take you less than 30 minutes if you travel by car. (In fact, Singapore is very small, so travelling to most places by public transport shouldn't take you more than an hour ^^)

If you need some recommendations on where to stay, please feel free to e-mail us at [email protected] with details about your budget and preferences.

As this is our first event, we are planning to cater for about 10 booths at the moment as we are unsure of the turnout. However, we may increase the number of booths if response from our dealers is favourable.

Singapore is a very small country and it is very easy and convenient to travel around quickly. As such, we are expecting close to 200 local visitors at the event, the bulk of whom are most likely doll owners. We have also received positive response from many non-owners, of whom we hope would make use of this event to learn more about BJDs.

We are also hoping to attract fellow doll lovers from Southeast Asia (and hopefully, beyond!) since regional air travel has become relatively inexpensive in recent years. At present however, we do not yet know how many foreign visitors we will be expecting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to give you the exact size of the Singapore BJD community, but we have reason to believe it is large enough to support such an event, particularly since the doll community here is expanding quickly. :)

    7. Freaking awesome! I've been looking forward to a Singapore-based ABJD Convention for ageeeees :]]]

      Edit.
      A few questions:

      1) When will ticket sales start?
      2) What's allowed to be sold at the con? (Or, what's not allowed?)

    8. 1) Ticket sales will begin in mid October. We will update this thread and our website once we have confirmed the date,.
      2) Anything that is directly related to BJDs are allowed to be sold at the event. This includes, but is not limited to, clothing, accessories, wigs, glass eyes, props, etc.

      Hope this helps! :)

    15. I think the event's a success, and well. Definitely a venue with more room next year? XD I quite like the area outside where everyone can sit and mingle, best to keep this in mind for next year too~ It encourages doll owners to mingle~
