The beginning of my wig making adventures

Wig attempt number 1 - Album on Imgur Hello friends! I wanted to show a recent wig i made, aswell as some thoughts about the whole process. It is my first fully completed wig, made out of suri alpaca.

Washing and combing was fine, but picking out the grass and hay was truly an experience My method was simply combing the small pieces out and using pliers for the rest.

I do not think i will continue using suri alpaca in the future, so i was planning on testing out soy fiber for any future wigs. It seems to be cheaper, but isn’t very long.

My fiber was basically a platinum blonde color from the get go, so i wanted to mix in some color for variety, and my love for the vkei style. The idea was a mix of blonde and pink.

Textile dye is not my favourite method, and i will therefore be sticking to hair dye instead. It was messy and my locks were dyed different shades and were very spotty. Thankfully, these issues did not show up at all in the finished wig! Honestly, i just suck at managing the heat, time and measuring textile dye lol.

My idea was to open a slit in my sidepart and slide some wefts through, glueing them under the wig cap itself, but that ended up not looking very clean, and was a bit bumpy. I ended up glueing on wefts and turning them over to reveal a clean side, but that also ended up showing some glue through the wefts . The hair line issue is not that apparent, but i clearly need a different way of approaching these methods. Any tips here would be appreciated! For now, the hairline mess shall be covered by a beanie until a new wig is made. Maybe this can be the ”bald and waiting for a wig” wig?

I used eyebrow razors to give the wig layers and to thin it out. Only heat was used to style the wig, and was very influenced by Sena and Yohio. This is a picture of my sist boy modeling the wig. Excuse the un-domed eyes, my uv lamp hasnt arrived yet
