Well since I have this guy mostly finished except for getting him his own actual body and his outfit, I figure it's time to start a new horrible mod. Also I started a third Project journal for Batman, who just arrived. I am going to try and get him done first because some of what I have to do to TBWL is similar and less hard on Batman....so he's like practice. On a way more expensive head. Yay? TBWL Background Over a year or so ago Scott Snyder (current writer of Justice League) debuted some super-evil versions of Batman in Dark Knights: Metal. The worst of all of them was this guy: the batman who laughs who is kind of the cumulation of my Batman-Joker obsession, considering he's sort of the worst of both of them smooshed into one. Plus bondage and chains and evil Robins. Surprising no one at all I totally fell in love with him at first teaser-image and even did fan art, which I rarely do. I had mentioned to a few people that if it wasn't so hard I would make him into a BJD. I also pre-ordered his statue the second it was available and just got him Friday! Yay! Out of nowhere yesterday my friend asked me if I was going to make him into a BJD... I was like I want to, but it wouldn't be easy (which I know, since I did the DOTF Joker and had to carve that mouth which I don't want to do again), and she hits me with "I have an idea of how you can do that visor thing he wears". I agreed it might work, and got a little excited since that was one of the things I didn't know how to do exactly, but again stalled out on his face, since Ringdoll Norman Dark is so hard to get and I still didn't want to do more mouth carving. Then I remembered IOS Jaguar. Not 100% match, but I thought I could make him work, he's got a good jaw, also I HAVE ONE DOING NOTHING IN MY HEAD DRAWER! Sorry for the all caps but I literally freaked out in the middle of Target when I realized this. As far as the rest of the mods go, I've been thinking about them a lot lately in terms of modding an Iplehouse head into Batman permanently (assuming I can ever get an extra head), so I'm pretty sure I can do it. So now it's happening! My victim: IOS Jaguar. Poor Chaos. His services will no longer be needed XD What needs to be done: Remove head from drawer - DONE! First step!! XD Wipe current faceup - DONE! Mostly! yay! Remove ears Glue magnet back on head back - sigh. nose ? eyes ? sculpt/add cowl ? sculpt/make visor - bat-ear thing find body (decided on Dollshe Pure in Pale. Now I just have to buy) claw hands lots of black leather and buckles - yay!! cape shoulder pads. ugh. evil robins?? Omg no. Well maybe. which means chains So. Lots of question marks. Mostly because no one knows what this guy actually looks like under his cowl. Does he have eyes? A nose? I DON'T KNOW However sometime next year, or later this year (December - I saw it on the twitter), he's getting a mini-series and Snyder has promised answers. So do I wait?? Of course not. I'll just go slow and hope I don't mess up. I'm already considering buying a second Jaguar in case I ruin the first. But I'm hoping I don't have to. My thought is just to make all the mods totally permanent and do away with his eyes and nose (mostly) and epoxy over them, then add the spikey visor. My biggest concern is a body because I was having trouble finding him one when he was the Joker. Which is why he has been a floating head for like, two years. Anyway my plan is to remove his faceup and start modding him either this week or this weekend. I may have to buy more milliput. I don't think I have much left over from DOTF Joker.... Fingers crossed!!
Thank you! I need all the possible luck XD Thanks!! I hope it turns out. Ha ha me too XD Well I got his face off. It took hours. I apparently sealed the hell out of that faceup. Also my cat was crying all night so I'd play with his new toy (both the best and worst thing I've ever bought him) so I kept having to play with him. You can't not play with the cat. There is still red in his stupid mouth. I'll attack it with a tooth pick tonight assuming Peter will let me do anything other than play with him..... But lookit all that mouth detail I forgot he had! He'll be a fun one to use. Say goodbye to those pretty ears tho.
Me too, he's so amazingly horrifying. Thank you! So I dragged out three of my 70cm guys last night and tried Jaguar on two of them. Back in the day when I only owned a Dollshe Classic and Pure body (way back in the day....) I had tried him on both and they looked way too small to me. Both bodies were unmodded. This time I have way more than two. I tried him on two different Pure and Classic, both with a neck mod and (like my Granado Raguel) he looked fine, good even, on both. So I'm going with the Pure which is a little bigger and has muscle-tone and better locking joints. He'll need a neck mod, a lot will have to come off, but he's getting totally covered anyway so who cares. I'm excited. I prefer the tall, lanky look for him and have no idea what bodies other than the older Dollshe ones have that! And Dollmore which can't be bought in WS at all.
He'll make a great (creepy as hell) doll if I can get him right! So I started the actual mod part of the mod today. *screams* No ears!! but it's ok because who needs ears anyway, right Lump?* *Lump is my original sculpt and I haven't given him ears yet XD As I feared, I don't have enough milliput to finish the job (not that it would even be close to being done today anyway), so I ordered some. Until then, I filled in all the gouges I made with the dremel when I cut off his ears. All of that is getting covered anyway, but on the off chance it's not, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to deal with it later. I'll sand it down after it's dry. Now to let him dry. I have to figure out how much of his nose that he'll get to keep. Probably not much. regardless it'll get covered by the cowl and visor so goodbye nose!! Randoms! all my "research" Aw, isn't he pretty? XD Actually compared to DOTF Joker he is. At least he won't need a gore warning.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! I sanded the ears off one of my Saint faceplates, it's so traumatic. He is going to be awesome!
@SteamWitch it is!! lol but it had to be done. And it took like, 30 seconds. I was grumbling over having to get my respirator and goggles out. But you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm a little worried about the nose...I am not sure how much is going to have to come off but I bet it's most. D:
Batman Who Laughs has SUCH a good design. The sculpt you chose is so perfect as well, I can't wait to see how it turns out!!
I've never heard of this Batman before, but I'm really intrigued! I can't wait to see your progress with the mod, and I might even go check out the comic.
You should! Metal was pretty epic. And TBWL is about as creepy as you would ever imagine a Batman could get! Ok, so I may have to go slower than I thought on this guy. The visor is going to be hard. But, I have a teeny bit of progress I've been putting off uploading. I conveniently forgot about his cowl (it's ok, I can figure that out) and jumped to the "ear" part. They go all the way down to his jaw, so they have to go on in sections. Here was me plotting it out. I made a nifty template out of paper, then traced it to wax paper, in hopes it would stick to the milliput less. It was moderately successful. how it was supposed to work Then I rolled out the milliput between more wax paper (I learned all I need to know in life from The Great British Baking Show) and cut it around the template with a knife. it mostly worked! I had to go fast because the milliput was just sticking to everything. And I chickened out and didn't do anymore after that. Also I forgot I have to seal up his eyes, and use the rest of my mixed milliput to do what I do with all my leftover milliput....make dice. I have a lot of different sized, very lopsided dice now. This project is going to be on a slight hiatus, because I just got the head that I am going to mod into actual Batman....and since the cowl concept is the same, but Batman's ears are going to be way easier, I think I want to try that first, to make sure that what I want to try will work. Then I can hopefully figure out how to do TBWL. So, Batman first, then The Batman Who Laughs. Or I'll do them both because I hate to waste milliput and I have enough dice.
Ik you haven't posted anything in a while and that's cool but I love those comic designs so seeing this on an unrelated rabbit hole is a nice surprise
