Discussion Thanks for the Memories! (Quick, quick, last day!)

Aug 31, 2009

1. Can you believe we're here? It's the last day of August, the last day of the celebration! Craziness!

For a final discussion, please post your favorite memory of DoA. It could be the dream doll you never thought you'd find in the Marketplace (please post a picture!), the best friend you met when you sent them a PM about the beautiful dollie in their avatar (give them a shout out!), or your favorite thread (please share a link!)

Whatever it is, please post here! You only have one day for this, for soon the Anniversary subforum will be closed for posting.

:pcake

2. My fondest memory is looking at this one girls box opening when I first joined, at that time I didn't have my doll, and was seriously thinking of not buying one, but seeing her joy made me change my mind <3

3. My thanks to DoA for all the great photographs which make me happy and sometimes I just have to laugh laugh laugh
:fangirl:

4. I've only been here a few months but my favorite thread is the Association Game

http://tinyurl.com/nqvmlx

I just love an excuse to post a picture!

My favorite moment was winning the Worst Photo Contest--do you think there's a connection?

5. I have to admit, my favorite thread has been this one: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=967. What could be better than BJDs with the family pet, right?

I'm sooo grateful for this site. It has really broaden my horizons to so many beautiful BJDs. And honestly, it's a great way to educate people about this hobby. So thank you for all the precious memories! :D

6. Actually, DOA's 5th Anniversary has been the best time I've had here and will probably become my favorite memory. I had so much fun voting on everything, as well as entering a few contests myself. I've loved every thread, so thanks a lot! I know it was hard work for the staff to put this together, so I really appreciate it. :aheartbea

7. I don't have a specific thread, but being a military wife, and moving around so much; I am so thankful for the subforum for Meet-ups http://www.denofangels.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17 without it I wouldn't have been able to meet all the awesome people here in Cali and in Virginia. Thank you guys for making it possible for me to make new friends all over the country. :) :aheartbea

8. I have to agree with neo-ragdolls, I'm quite grateful for the meet-up threads. I wouldn't have most of the awesome friends I do now if not for DoA. So thank you and keep up the good work! <3 o(≧∀≦)o

9. My favorite DoA-specific memory? I'd say I have two.

One is being PM'd within days of joining the forum by a lovely lady who lives in my area. That kick-started what's become a monthly ritual of meetups that's been going on for over two years, and I can't think of a better welcome. HEARTS to my local group!

The second was being pointed at this forum in the first place by the person who introduced me to these dolls. Without her, I never would've discovered this hobby and the beauty it brings. I also would've never discovered just how droolworthy a Dollshe really is. That also brought me into contact with her roommate, whose unbelievable skill with a paintbrush and a sewing machine are responsible for making my boys as pretty as I think they are. (SadisticSaint and ukelala, you guys are freaking awesome and you have choco-of-thanks forthcoming.)

10. Without DoA I never would have met some of the stupendous people I have! V chan, plastikman, Daverinvega, aoyuki_kitsune, Vaith, sammysoblue, alexiel leigh... the people who I have come to realise that really aren't 'doll friends' anymore... they're actual friend-friends LOL!! Without DoA I never would have gone to meetups and really met any of them, or had any of them to my house! ;D

11. My favorite memory is of when I first took the plunge and bought my first BJD. When I headed over to the DoC Waiting Room, all the people there were so supportive and cheerful. It made me so happy to have found DoA. The 5-6 weeks went by a lot faster than I thought it ever would. :)

12. I owe much of my collection to DoA in one way or another. The Soom speculation and excitement of Release Day gatherings in the MD threads are fun and exciting, but the prize for FUN has to go to the first one or two (likely now lost) incarnations of the legendary Soom Heliot Waiting Room threads! In the days before the 'Where are they!?:...(" angst understandably took over, much fun and LOL humor was to be had. I will never look at Hostess Ding Dong cakes the same way again. :bcake :fangirl:

13. I think one of my favorite DoA memories is when I was a bare newbie, getting ready to recieve my first doll (Korben, my f-26 ^__^) & I wanted to do an Omukae ceremony. I barely knew anyone, as it was also my first year in Japan. Through DoA I met Kastalia, who travelled all the way from Nagoya to attend my ceremony :) I now consider her one of my best friends, & it's all thanks to DoA! :)

14. thanks to DoA my two favourite dolls came to live with me.
I want to thank Sushi Icecream for Blake, and lovely St James for being so nice and choosing me as Lou's new owner
and they want to say hi, too

15. Without DoA, I wouldn't be able to make the new local friends that I have now, and also wouldn't be able to meet my closest friend, saintaya. Also our two boys would not have met as well, and wouldn't become a happy couple as they are now.

And also, without DoA, I wouldn't be able to get my Hound, Evael, who is like my first dream come true. So yes. :3

16. It's not a memory as such, but I have met some really lovely lovely people on here, far too many to mention personally, but they know who they are!!! And although I've not met any of them face to face yet, I will get to meet a couple of them this very month when I visit England for a week. I wish I could meet more but time and distance just doesn't allow, so we meet here on DOA.

Without the forum and similar dolly groups, I'd be a bit of a lonely bjd collector!!!!

Hugs and Happy Anniversay DOA:smallcake
Sharon in Spainxx

17. I had a lot of great memories about lovely dolls, beautiful photos and great deals.....

But the most precious thing is a friend who I'v met through here. :)
Thank you Ms.Cumming and DOA. You are making wonderful days to me. <3 *hug*

18. After 7 years of waiting a BJD but never having the money for it, I finally joined DoA this year and did it. I ordered my first dolls. I'm waiting for both of them now. That's definitely my best memory here.

Also a shout-out to Avnia(dolly lolita tea party!) and Tallenvyaere(who I apparently already knew IRL, but didn't know it.), my two best BJD buddies! Both of them have helped me out a LOT, and they're both awesome! ♥

19. My fondest set of memories is with my friend Aernath! Our communication started with a comment I made in one of my photostories about a shirt. And she sent me the aforementioned shirt, as a GIFT! Then two of our dollies got into a relationship, and she even sent him up to visit for the holidays. Aernath is such an awesome lady, and I'm pleased to be her friend here on DoA. :)

20. Fondest memory? I'd have a very hard time pinning it down to one. Of course all but about 2 of my dolls are a result of DoA in one way or another, so that's a LOT of memories :). The people I've met here are wonderful and some have become good friends, whether or not they're still active here (Apis, Wendy, Jen, Kris) -- I've gotten to swap hello's with someone whose work I adore and for whom I have more than a fair share of hero worship :) (Mercedes). I've "Made Someone's Day" a couple of times with just random expressions of amazement - (Morbidollz, Darkawaii). And there are people I've known for years who I now know better because of this place (Crystal, yo!)

Best best thing of all though, has been being encouraged -- primarily by Aernath, who's been with me through thick and thin since way before our respective invasion of DoA, but also by Hobbywhelmed, and Gennii Drominda, and Muse, and Miss_Pyg, and Frank, and a bunch of others -- to explore my own creative vision, such as it is, and put the darned things up to share with others. When you're a soul with no self-confidence, it's pretty special to find a hobby that gives you joy, purpose, and companionship all at once :)

And thanks again to the mods for the most fun a month has been in years !!

OK, wait. Most Favorite Memory Ever.

Watching the pictures and hearing the squees all the way from an island in the Pacific when Ichigo came home to Aernath for the first time, some three years ago :) That beats heck out of almost anything, ever :)

21. This is a hard one--the DoA marketplace allowed me to get a number of my dolls who are very precious to me, and through the meetup threads I've gotten to meet a lot of really neat people.

22. DOA is just the best place to share, learn, discuss, and appreciate BJD's, and the artistic talents of the people who collect them. I really can't live without this forum now. Thanks to everyone involved for making it what it is.

23. Ohhhh... but I have so many good memories!

One of my fondest DoA memories... the way my little dolly-loving heart went all aflutter when I saw my very rare dream doll for sale in the MP. :aheartbea It was a Latidoll Adel, originally an LE10 lottery release. I'd fallen in love from the moment I saw him on the Latidoll site, but had given up hope on ever owning him. Now he's home and I absolutely adore him. If it weren't for DoA, I don't think I ever would have found my gorgeous boy. Photo

I also remember seeing my friend roxyk630's Wake-Up Peakswoods Cue for the first time and totally eating my words. I'd tried to convince her not to buy the doll, because I thought the dreaming eyes looked odd. But she assured me she had a concept in mind. I was so skeptical... but then when Georgie came together she was so amazing! :D It was one of the times that the absolute customizability of these dolls really hit me. I think it's a good part of what got me to finally take the plunge and buy my own doll! Georgie Photos

I'm also so glad for the DoA Meetups section... through there, I discovered a local group in Kansas City. At my first meetup, I heard someone say my name and turned around to see Sterling, an old acquaintance I'd known back in college. At the time I'd known her, neither of us had even heard of BJDs. But somehow, even though we no longer kept in touch... we'd both gotten into the hobby and bought our first dolls within weeks of each other! We bonded almost instantly, and DoA has been instrumental in keeping us in touch.

This one is more general... but I so fondly remember how kind and understanding people were when I first started. I was such a dork, and I asked some pretty silly questions. But people were so helpful, and I really felt accepted into the community.

24. I'd say thanks for the news and marketplace. There is no way I could keep up with my favorite dolls without the News threads. And, I am happy to say I have done dozens of successful transactions with people on DoA. Even buying rare and expensive dolls, I have had good luck, and met some fine people through the Market.

25. My favorite thing I've done so far on DoA was the Christmas card exchange last year. I've rarely received many cards before (few relatives/friends), so getting 3 cards from the exchange was very special. I also had so much fun making my cards to send out! I went through extra trouble to make both human and doll sized cards and include handmade doll socks as a gift. One of my recipients posted a photostory about receiving the card! It made me so warm and fuzzy! X3
The Christmas card exchange definitely helped make one of the happiest Christmas seasons i've had.

26. I believe that was called 'The Squee Heard Around the World!' Probably caused a small tsunami or two somewhere. ;)

Hmm, I'm not sure this qualifies as a fond memory but I'm happy to have found someplace to keep up with old friends and a new hobby as enjoyable as the old one we share (and just as expensive, darn it! :sweat) plus the chance to make new friends! :)

27. There is no best memory than to be blown away each day by the beauty of the dolls in the gallery, to be able to find all the info on the amazing amount of topics, databases, tips, etc, and to be able to find the dolls of your dreams on the marketplace.
DoA rules. <3

28. I have met so many friends in my short time on DoA. I have met other doll lovers from Michigan and they are all amazing people! I am so happy to say that I've been sucked into this hobby for like and am enjoying every minute of it! And a special thanks to Armelia for running these amazing forums and all of the Moderators and Virtues that make that possible! And of course to Truffles for being the most adorable puppy princess. Thanks so much guys! Let's have another amazing year on DoA!

29. I don't have a 'the best memory ever' but, DoA is one of the best places to be, I've never felt more accepted anywhere before. So, cheers! To a place where everyone is friendly and weird! <3

30. [IMG]

Like any other job, you learn to take the kick in the pants but seldom get the pat on the back. If you do something wrong... no one forgets, do something right no one remembers... BUT WE DO ...so thankx for all you guyz do to keep this FORUM running smoothly and all the work in bringing everyone the most update doll news on what's new and what's hot.

- ShadowHawke -

31. Thank you DoA for giving me the opportunity to discover meets in my area. Without DoA, there wouldn't be so many organized, amazing meets in the LA area.

I also wanted to thank DoA for hosting this anniversary subforum. Every thread in this subforum has been a lot of fun and a great way to participate. Thanks for all your work on this!

32. Hm, my best memory would definitely be my first DOA meet up and meeting someone who has become a very good friend.

However, I think the PM I received from a member on the picture I put in the "Favorite Photo" thread here in the Anniversary area is also one of my best DOA memories. Thanks again wickedstitchery!

I do not believe I would have enjoyed this hobby a quarter as much without all the wonderful people on here. Everyone is always so ready to advise, compliment, or just help pass a really boring day at work.

33. I have so many wonderful memories of DoA. I've learned so much this last year and I know I wouldn't have some of the dolls I have now (and some of which I'm still planing to order). This has been such a wonderful place to meet new people (All of which are sooo wonderful) and don't even get me started on what I've been able to find through the marketplace that I wouldn't have been able to purchase otherwise.

Over all this is purely an amazing site and my life would not be complete without it. Here's to many more years DoA!! :D

34. I think joining the forum in the first place has to be a great memory in itself! Having only been a member for a couple of months I haven't experienced anywhere near even a tiny percentage of what this place has to offer yet!

But hey, you even beat the "Met Office" on our computer's most visited websites, which is no easy feat, my mum's addicted to the Met Office, always checking that all important weather forecast every day of the year... ;)

And everyone here is so nice :) Its just a great place to be a part of! :D

35. I cannot thank this place enough, really.

When I stopped playing D&D, I kind of fell out of hobbies in general, and got all depressed.. Then bora_toki, in another avenue completely, put up pictures of her boys, and links to here. I fell so hard for this community. I have her to thank.

I've met so many people, so many new and real friends... Sephora, Velveteen Rabbit,Luthien, Soul_Conflicted, Wilson, Muse...

I consider each of those people my friends, I've gotten to hug and laugh with many of them... two of them are bridesmaids in my wedding, and all of them are invited, and encouraged to bring what brought us together (their dolls, yaknow?)...

I've been so lucky to find three friends from other parts of the country, that I now think of as family... Aernath, Baakay, Toshirodragon... As far as I'm concerned, you are my aunts that live out of state, and I'm so, so lucky to know you.

Had I never found this website, I never would have met these people... Never would have busted out of my shell, and never found a hobby that I will continue for the rest of my life.

Thank you, DoA.

36. My favorite memory is when I posted one of my dolls for sale on ebay and she fetched $3600!!! The money was great and all, but the best thing was getting lots of "congrats" and "you deserve it" "how awesome" etc from my fellow DOAers ^_^

I also love how many friends I've made since being a part of this community! Thank you for being here, DOA!
Raven

37. hhhmmm My best memory would be seeing BanSidhe's Avatar LOl...no, but seriously I have really enjoyed this group these past few months that I have been really active. I think though that my best memory is yet to come. When I finally get to order Abadon. Congrats to DOA for their 5th and I hope that there are many more to come.

38. I met 2 special people in person and they let me play with their dolls, and were the sweetest warmest hostesses I can ever imagine. You both rock! ~Gus

39. So many dolls and clothing I've gotten from the marketplace!! I don't think I could even point out my favorite two or three!
Favorite thread, definitely the Association Game that someone already pointed out.
My best memories stem from the photo story collaborations, both big and small. The unfettered fun I had mixing story lines with Hobbywhelmed, and the lightning to the head when Baakay pointed to the teaser pic of Soom's Heliot, and said "he looks like Rat transformed!" The subsequent Rat and Gennii Drominda's Jay stories were a blast! The stories with James and Miss_Pygmalion's Rachel were fun! And borrowing Bluejedi81's girl body for my Isao boy head! What a hoot!
Going to AX just to meet xtal. ;) And NanDesuKan to meet Baakay. (poor ladies)
The holiday swaps have been fun! (and Yay! A Halloween one is up now!)
Having a place to post the inordinate amount of pictures I tend to take... priceless. :abow:
And all the wordless happy flails and laughs and the times people have taken the time to tell me that some picture or post made their gloomy day much brighter... I still believe every little reply post counts. :) It really can make the poster's day much brighter too!

This month of contests and voting has been by far, a huge bright spot on DoA. :bcupcake
Thanks, mods, for the ton of work I'm sure this has been.

Oh! And the meetups that I always spend days dreading, but invariably, end up enjoying as well, thanks to the folks I keep meeting there (Katsuyo, AerynAerie, Ukitake, Maddie and Spiralstorm). :)

:bcakeTHANKS, DoA!!!:bcake

I must be getting old! I almost forgot the wonderful shoots JennyNemesis did when I sent her my TangetsuGo and Ananth to "have fun with"! I wonder if we'll ever see another shoot at a male strip club! :XD:

40. I was lost!:o I had seen bjds in Haute doll magazine But all I knew about them was I had to have one. One, like that's possible. I mean its like never having read sci fi books and being thrown into tolkien or the dune books. Its another world and I didn't even know what questions to ask:...( But some angel pointed me to Doa and while I still have a lot to learn I feel really comfortable now. And there is always someone to talk to who likes the same things I do.:aheartbeaI feel like Alice but instead of a mirror I've fallen through the computer screen and all the wonderful craziness I've found here makes sense.:D

41. I have so many great memories! I've made wonderful friends, and some of them have definitely gone beyond 'dollie friends,' to the point of Friends (<3 to celticgeekess (did you ever think we lived so close??), Zagzagael, gus251, thesaraghina, sleep_pattern, rkold, ndavid812, all of the mods and virtues, to name just a few).

Being chosen as a mod was a really great honor...and one that I was so afraid to take! You wouldn't believe how nervous I'd get merging threads in the beginning!

My favorite memory was posting this thread Frankenstein! Or goodbye resale value!. The pictures now make me cringe...way to photograph the poor boy on the couch, self! I was so afraid that people would be horrified at what I'd done to a perfectly good doll (this was waaaaaaaay before major modifications were commonplace). The enthusiastic, wonderful response made me really glad to be a part of the hobby.

Thank you, everyone, who has played along with contests, participated in voting and discussion, donated beautiful prizes, and tolerated my rotten puppy as the MC. I'm so glad we have a forum full of such varied, talented, funny, wonderful people!

From Junkets and Sliver. <3

42. i would say thanks for all the information as it has helpe me be more certain i can do more for my eventual dolls ^^ and thankyou to all the people who have answered my various questions and my comments including the lame ones.

:kitty2 A.R.N.F

43. Ah ok, I just thought of something else.

When I first got into this hobby I was blown away, and not necessarily in a good sense, by people talking about their dolls' personalities, and bonding with them, and so forth.

But now I don't have a doubt in my mind what that's all about, and it's DoA that makes this possible. The HUGE range of ages, outlooks on life, skill sets, experiences, and so forth that are shared here make that "Velveteen Rabbit" thing really happen. The dolls come alive.

"A grown woman playing with dolls!" my 77 year old dad said to me this summer. "Yes!" I told him. "And some not-quite grown women, and various and sundry guys, and people in between all of the above."

"And we LOVE it." :)

44. actually, i found the first doll i ever fell in love with online TWO YEARS after was sold here in the Marketplace - Summer Perfume Sia Unique (she was already sold when i first stumbled upon BJDs on the internet), and since she was one of a kind i never thought i'd get a chance to even see an owner photo of her, much less own her ... but if you look in my sig, there she is :aheartbea it was the shock of a lifetime finding her, utter serendipity!

45. Probably my favorite memories of DoA have been the friends I made, the artist's subforum and all the friendly, helpful people I met there, and this subforum. :) I finally got the chance to order both my favorite doll head and my current doll-head's body from this! SQUEE! :D

46. I like to give a shout to some of my dearest friends that I have met through DoA. You know who you are and I <3 you girls.

47. I second this! Please do this again for the 10th anniversary *cough or 6th cough* ;) This was so much fun!

My other favorite memory was being in my first Soom MD waiting room, the Sard waiting room. We had some fun times in there! I was sad to move on when Sammael finally came home!

48. There's a lot of things DoA has brought me... Friends made through meet-ups, beautiful dolls through the marketplace... Skills learned through the workshop threads...

As for specifics... I used to post a lot of photostories. It would always be a pick me up at the end of the day when I'd read the comments people made. One day I read someone's post that called my DZ Mo, Killia, the perfect villain! This still makes me smile when I think about it. I loved being able to bring my dolls to life and hearing that people enjoy them as characters.

49. I guess my fondest would have to be learning other BJD owners lived so close! I was sure when I discovered these dolls I'd like be the only one in SC to own one. Now I have a great friend who lives maybe 45 minutes away and I always enjoy spending time with her.

PrincessAi436, I will miss you when you move away!

50. I second the above. DOA is so mindboggling huge, there is always new information to find, help to be found, new people to meet, and a wealth of images to be awed and inspired by.

I remember that multi-day period when DOA was down, and we all learned what the ache of "withdrawal" feels like--

51. My happiest memories have actually been pretty recent - doing the FACE+UP collaboration book this year was awesome because I felt like I had amazing opportunities to connect with other artists to create something great! We sold over 200 copies, so other people thought it was great too!

My current favorite thread on DoA is the Naripon Toadstool thread.

I also was just... really beyond excited when Chesca agreed to make our special 5th anniversary outfit. I have always loved Another Space, so I totally got to fangirl. :aheartbea

The same can be said of the LUTS LE... I feel like it is just such an awesome thing and I am so happy to see a major company like LUTS doing something specifically for the DoA community. I also got to get to know some of the LUTS staff better, and I have some new friends now. :aheartbea It's wonderful. I'm excited thinking that our LE may have kickstarted a new series of dolls at LUTS!

Small thank yous and shout-outs...
Thank you to Junkets, who introduced me to the first BJD that I had ever seen in person. Thank you to dechanique, who unknowingly helped me to find my way to BJD via the 1/6th dollfies on her website. Thank you to Zagzagael for making me feel like a decent faceup artist by both challenging me and then praising me when I didn't do too badly. Thanks to Dezarii for being a constant in dolls through both my time in Japan and back in the US. Thanks to celticgeekess for being one of the few people who I could handle for 84 hours straight, enabling us to go to Dolpa together for 3 years in a row. Thanks to Azurielle for being my first repeat customer with commissions, thanks to Jenova for being my first faceup commission customer in general! Thanks to twigling and patl for encouraging me to sculpt. Thanks to Lizzard for being an awesome correspondent even when I forget to reply for a few weeks at a time. Thanks to sleep_pattern for letting me rave.

There are others of course, but this is a novel already. :)

52. My fondest memory... Is actually finding my Cossette. I had been following Lady Saiyuki's artist thread and hadn't been fond of the Hanyuu mold when she first came out. Thought she was bug eyed and scary, even! But then I saw she was all alone and orphaned on the market place... and I bought her for myself for graduation. One of the best things I've ever done! Cossette was a challenge because I never liked her face ups because I liked her face mold far too much, she wants to be a girly girl, and doesn't 'speak' to me like the others do. She... well, Cossette points and clings.

But that little doll has challenged me to really look at the face mold when I do face-ups and I learned to make patterns to make clothes for her... and made me by another LS doll ^^;

53. I was flattered beyond belief when I was asked to take part in FACE+UP this year and found my work next to amazing artists like Ladious, cifr and lilykoi. It was great to finally feel like I'd made some notable progress since the first KDF Aru I put a brush to. (That poor guy. *_*)

This year was a great year dollwise for me. I felt really bad about a lack of money last year that kept us from buying my fiancee the Heliot she really wanted, and less than 24 hours after posting a WTB the amazing Jenova swooped in with an offer that was too good to pass up, especially for a secondhand MD! She rocked my little resin world this year, and is definitely on the list of people I have much love for.

I think like everyone else I have made SO many great friends through DoA. I spent an exciting weekend in Montreal two years ago with the phenomenal creamyjade that I'm hoping we can repeat in 2010. After the bus ride from hell an ever patient Junkets and armeleia were there waiting for me at the terminal in New York, and didn't once even joked about putting me right back on the bus despite my crazy hair, and the beginnings of a cold that would only grow worse over the next few days. (I'm so sorry guys!) My very first Dolpa was unforgettable thanks to the wit and good cheer of pancakegenocide and yamamuratatsuya. And I am so grateful for two of my very best friends that DoA inadvertently dropped on my "doorstep"; seisei and River.

There have been so many great friends and good conversations, and even a few entertainingly placed catfights. People can complain (myself included at times, I'm hardly immune to being a brat) all they like, but DoA's done some awesome things for us all, as far as any online forum can, and I hope to get some more great years and friends out of this place.

:pcake

((And I am exhausted and going off the top of my head, so if I spelled any names wrong, smack me later.))

54. My fondest memory I think is joining.

Ever since joining, my whole BJD world has exploded and expanded! Thank you DoA and all the members for existing.

I think this August birthday event month was really one of my favorite memories. Seeing something new every few days, getting to participate in contests, having fun discussions. It was great!

55. I loved the Draw The Doll Above You threads. There are so many great artists here on DoA.

I would post a link, but all the threads are locked. :sweat

57. "Thanks for the Memories".........
I have so many wonderful memories from being a member of this awesome community.....:D
I'm on here like 24/7...lol...it's my "home away from home" and my fondest memories are in the Gallery, that's where I hang out! I've met so many lovely folks through DoA....it's the "sharing and caring" that's really special......:fangirl:

xen :)

58. How on earth can i pick one thing? I'm happy just to be here, usually!

Had it not been for DoA, i probably never would have gotten into BJDs to begin with, and had it not been for the marketplace i know i never would have gotten at least five or six of my dolls, or bodies or various other things. That, and the ability to have a way and a reason to work out some of my stories through the photostory galleries, regardless of how many or how few responses they get XD; Everything i get into because of this hobby and DoA really helps my creativity and helps inspire so much, i think ^^

Really though, I love how many people i've gotten to meet here. Between going to meets and talking to people in discussion threads or waiting rooms. Meets in my area are so much fun, and its so awesome getting to hang out with a bunch of other people and seeing all the different dolls and styles and everything.

Though i do think one of the best things ever was when i was waiting for my first doll, (Two years ago! =O ) and how freaking amazing the Luts waiting room was. I met one of the most awesome people ever there, someone i consider one of my really close friends now <3

59. DOA has given me lots and lots of wonderful memories! But I think my favorite was doing the gift exchanges for Christmas and Valentine's Day last year. It was so much fun to "meet" new friends/other members from all over and share a special gift for their dollies. Not to mention getting to see all the awesome gifts that everyone got! ;) And I can't wait to join another one this year, it was so much fun! http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253460

And thanks to DOA I have found that I am not the only person in KS that knows & collects these wonderful dolls! Through the meetup threads I have gotten to meet new friends and see more amazing dolls in person than I could've dreamed of. Not to mention expanding my own collection through both the gallery threads and marketplace. :)

And I would agree that this celebration has definitly added to the great memories! I've had so much fun participating/watching all the contests!Thank you MODS for all the work and creativity you've shared this past month!:pcupcake Thank you DOA and all the fabulous people who keep it running! I come here daily to receive and share dollie knowledge and couldn't do without it!

60. Thank you to GUNTER VON CHRIST 8D

She was with me supporting me through the hours I geared up for ordering my first doll yesterday. >w< She's a terrible enabler, but I don't care! She gave me my best DoA memory.
