USA Texas meet ups? Or conventions?

Commenting mainly to keep track of this post - I'm in Texas and am new ish to the hobby and would be interested to know of any meet ups or events

 

There are two I know of: DollCon in Dallas and BJDC in Austin.

I’m in Texas too and I don’t have any doll friends to connect with. With covid, I dont think I’d attend a convention, but a meetup might be safe.

 

Hello fellow Texans! I'm in the DFW area. We have a lovely community here. Next weekend, we'll also have DollCon Dallas. It's going to be a great way to meet new people. The very first iteration of this con (way back when it was connected to a large anime convention) is actually how I found out doll communities were even a thing, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Everyone is super friendly here, so I highly recommend stopping by. Right now, the badge prices are $40 and are available both online or at the door. Masks will also be enforced since we want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time.

We have a Facebook group for the convention along with a DFW based Facebook group (not BJD specific but arguably BJD focused). Let me know if you'd like more information and I'll send you a message.

 

@Shamshir awesome! That’s on my bday too. I wish I could attend and hopefully I’ll get to next year. Its good to not feel so alone. There’s a facebook group?

 

Houstonian here! We also have a Facebook group. In-person meetups have been on hold as we're all taking covid precautions, but it's still a nice place to post photos and talk about our projects.

 

Yes! I'll send you a message with some more information on the Facebook group. I hope you can attend next year, too! I am going to try and take some photos since it's been a long time since anyone has been able to post doll convention photos. I don't know about you, but I love going through pictures of conventions even if I'll never go. It's so fun seeing everyone interact.

 

I sadly couldn't attend this year because I have very young children. I really hope to meet some of y'all at another event.

I'm considering it, but I really hate driving to downtown Austin. I hate driving in general, lol.

Does anyone know of any bjd shops for wigs size 5cm to 6cm heads that will fit Sartoriaj msd male or female dolls?

 

I'm going to BJDC in Austin this year! If you didn't know Saturday is a free day! So unless you want all the extras (banquet, panels, events) don't spend the $200

 

I agree whole heatedly. If I can avoid I-35, I will. I'm planning on taking the metro and having my Hubby pick me up and drop me off there.

 

Well I guess I can save some money for next year...

Hot dang! Now I know I can make a day trip out of it next year. since this year is my first time I figure I'd go in on the whole package.

I haven't been to any meetups either but I used to be more active in a san antonio bjd group and they sometimes scheduled meetups!
I'm from the RGV so they're not common but I'd be willing to drive 4 hours to go to a meetup lol. 4 hours is not long in texas time lol

 

What part of Texas? I'm in San Antonio and I know there's a group here.

 

I thought about maybe meeting up at Mini Mini con if not Rolling Oaks mall since it's close to where I live. Although, I would say my college campus but it's closed for Winter break at the moment.

 

We live close to the San Antonio area but much closer to Selma

Hey I know this is a year old post but!! Is DollCon Dallas originated from Doll-A-Kon?! I have been there before! Everyone I talked to was really nice. I was way too shy to get to know anyone though. I totally missed it this year but would love to check it out next year if you guys are still doing it. And hopefully try my best to break the ice a little bit better.

 

I usually go to Mini Mini con every year at wonderland mall. Maybe we can meet up there when the time comes

Like a few others I'm commenting to keep track of the updates in this thread. I've heard a lot about the con coming up this June in Austin. I too am considering attending, but I've never been to any sort of con before so I'm curious about other people's experiences, especially from cons here in Texas.

This will be my first time going to BJDC, but I'm just going to the free attendance vendor room on Saturday. Excited though!

 

I would say to meet up at my college since it's connected to a really nice park, but the weather here has been really bad lately.

 

I'd love to go to a meetup! I'm in the Austin area and also new to the community. I've been lurking on the forums and saving photos for years but I'd love to actually meet people and get involved!

 

There's a chance I might be at Otku Cafe this saturday and I'm bringing one of my Delfs with me, just look for a Fujin cosplayer

It was a fun and big con but man the heat was draining. Ended up not doing workshop for a variety of reasons orz

i'm on the north end of austin myself, i wouldn't mind making the drive to killeen or meeting up somewhere halfway-ish like in georgetown

 

They meet once a month typically. They have a facebook group called San Antonio BJD Club.

Ditto! I currently live in the Fort Cavazos/Hood area, and also hoping to meet some friends.

 

Also in the area! Would love to have a local meetup since there seems to be quite a few of us! ^^

 

Maybe we can do a little meet up at Panera Bread? That's the first place that came to mind.

 

I think the Bloom cafe would be really fun for a meetup! Or if other prefer a public like the mall or Conder Park once it warms up. I made a discord for those interested in the Central Texas area! DM for invite since I'm not super familiar w DoA's rules yet! ^^
