Now I want to get a Hope in 2023 and the website appears blocked in United States I'm having problems. Are all Russian dolls considered luxury goods and thus sanctioned? Do I have to pay in Russian currency? If I use PayPal, like other customers above, what was the ballpark price you paid? Is she about two thousand dollars with complete set? I'm having a hard time sorting it out. Maybe I can find one in DOA Marketplace that isn't banned by sanctions? I'd hate for her to get confiscated by Customs. Help please. Thanks.
Yeah, I've also read that they are not selling overseas most likely due to sanctions. My last doll from Tender Creation was in 2020, so things may have changed ie. pricing, but I might be able to add some helpful info for anyone that's never bought a Tender Creation doll before. Orders per year have always been very limited. Typically pre-orders went live early in the morning around February and sold out fast. If it was a popular mold, had probably less than a couple of hours to submit. I made the mistake of taking too long in finalizing my options on the mold I wanted the first time around, but I'm very happy with my next favorite mold. Full-set dolls typically run around $2400 before shipping (Face-up/body-blush/mani/pedi, full outfit, all hand/feet options, wig, eyes) Full-set dolls were the ones used on her promo shots and are 1/1 and had to check-up on the site to see when she would list them for sale. The ones I ordered (bought 2, 2019 and 2020) only had the face-up, and 1 set of hands/feet. I paid around $1500 including shipping and conversion fees. Order typically took around 6 months after final payment. The first doll I paid in 4 payments and the second doll I paid in 2. They used to sell blanks during their pre-order dates starting at ~$800, but I've read that they are no longer selling blanks on their Instagram page. Other noticeable things to point out: The resin they use is unlike any other resin doll I've owned so far. It's not fragile like the ones you find in Ficon, Sybarite, Kingdom Doll, etc where you see pics of chips/cracks around the ankle/shin area and other places. It's also fairly lightweight compared to those dolls. I chose the most articulated version of the bodies and due to this type of resin and its durability, it's so easy to pose and I have no worries about it chipping or cracking. All the articulation points are fully felted so holding a pose is no issue. The v2 and v2 revised(smaller joints/magnets & wider thigh option) fit most FR16/Avantguards, Tonner 16(Precarious line), Sybarite, Ficon, etc. most notably the bottoms. The tops generally fit looser, so it was a hit or miss. 1/6 male action figure jackets work well for that looser/baggier fit that's popular now. For shoes v2/v2 revised, if it is the S3 feet, it will fit the no-brand Tonner Antoinette heels that are sold on eBay. S4 feet are even more arched, so maybe Sybarite/Popovy heels may work?
I don't know what country you're in @2 Scoop, but I can speak from a US perspective. In the US, BJDs are classified as "toys," and importing toys from the Russian Federation is prohibited. There are sanctions against "investing" in Russia - so anything that takes longer than three weeks to make is considered debt and therefore an investment prohibited by US sanctions. Most major Russian banks are sanctioned, PayPal has pulled out, and Russia has been de-listed from the SWIFT network (how banks send wire transfers to each other), so sending money to Russia is somewhere between difficult and impossible. Even if you can find a way to send money to Russia, many banks are refusing to process transfers because the US Government has been hammering banks on sanctions compliance.
Thank you!! Thank you for the comprehensive reply. DOA didn't notify me anybody replied so I just found it. I will definitely take all of that into consideration if I'm able to legally purchase one in my lifetime. Thank you for all of this useful information. I just now noticed I had a reply to my question. I'm sure others will find your answer helpful too.
