Just For Fun Ten Years of Resin Dears

Aug 17, 2014

    1. Whether your collection is large or small - you must arrange your dolls in order of their purchase (or arrival, if you only remember that) in a single photo (maximum of 750 pixels on the longest side).

You may arrange them in single file or multiple rows, but must indicate the "time direction", either on the photo or a bit of text accompanying your photo. (I.e., oldest in front/back, starting from the left, etc.)

If your collection is very large, 30 or more, and a single photo is going to look like a Where's Waldo crowd shot with all of them, you may limit the dolls in the photo to about 20 to 30 - but you should try to represent as many years as possible since your collection started, not just a bunch of dolls from a single year or two.

    2. Well that could definitely keep me out of trouble for a day... or two ;)

    3. Or three!
Oh yeah, definitely a Where's Waldo thing for me! I may have to try this though.

    4. Can we still participate if we have only bought dolls in the past year or two?

    5. @Kotone:
I don't see why not. You're still celebrating your anniversaries with your dolls and all of DoA, right? :)

My fiancee and I are trying to figure out the best way to pose our lot of 20+. Do we do it combined, or separate?

    6. Of course! :)

    7. Thanks for for the quick answer! Now to line all my darlings up ;)

    8. We post the pictures here, I guess?
Here's my one photo (though I do have closeups to better see what their cards say). It starts on the left with February 15, 2011, and the newest is furthest right at June 9, 2014. :)

    9. What if our dolls are composed of so many hybrids that we'd have to disassemble them to arrange them in order of arrival? :XD: Like, A doll's head was here before B doll's head, but B doll's body was first, and then A doll's body arrived, and then B doll's head, and then A doll's hands, and...

    10. XD that does make it interesting. I have one hybrid doll, and I have no idea when I got each part, so I just put her arrival date as the date she was a complete doll. ^^

    11. Hmm... I have one doll, a hybrid, who I count as being here since his head arrived... but he's gotten a new head, and switched bodies a couple times, so I have no idea when all his current parts came together! I'm going to just count from the time I consider them "arrived" whether they were complete or borrowing a body or whatever at that point.

I'm not sure I'm actually going to be able to take a photo for this, but it would be really fun!

    12. i could just post a video of my doll room. >_>; that would be far easier.... as i couldn't fit everyone in a pic if i tried... well maybe if i had a very large table and a wide angle lens and room to back up etc. LOL! *pssttheresalinkinmysig* lol

    13. This looks like fun, I just have to find somewhere to line everyone up.

    14. Ha ha ha that was the first thing I thought of! As if my collection isn't a chronological mess on it's own....hybrids bought at different times make things so much worse XD

    15. I have hybrids too, and for the purposes of this game, I'll count them as having arrived on the day they were completed! But, it also makes sense to post them when the very first part arrived.

Disassembling also works, and will make for a fun picture! :D

    16. I've been working on this today and I finally got everyone sorted out!

Phew! They took up the whole couch… *_*

    17. Oh this looks fun I just took a group photo but they weren't in order I'll have to line them up again when I get home from work.

    18. Kiya, that would make for an incredible game of Twister! :XD:

    19. Ahhh you know me too well! ;)

What a gorgeous shot! And a lovely group, as well. :)

    20. Thank you, Baakay! ^__^

    21. Oh, this is going to be fun! especially finding somewhere to pose them!

Lady Ravenswood, great shot of your crew! The added text is a good idea, too =)

    22. Thank you. ^_^
Haha, I thought it might look a bit of a jumble if I didn't label them somehow. ^.^"

    23. I wanted to do this too, but after taking the pic, I realised that it would be very stupid, because some of my dolls are wearing other contest material. I'll wait till the 31st to post, then it should be ok^^.

    24. Still working on mine, too =)

    25. Fun! I think for my hybrids, I'm going to go in the order I got their heads, because that's when they become real and present to me.

    26. I'd love to do this, but honestly I can't even remember the years most of mine arrived...

    27. The order is left to right back row, then left to right front row.

My dolls are listed in my profile in the same order as the picture, in case anyone is wondering who they are.

(Haha, I just noticed there is a bit of a gap right when my daughter was born in 2009. I was a little distracted from my dolls for awhile there.)

    28. Here we are, just in time. Some glassy stares here, probably from boredom; it took a long time to set up!

I did a version with Photoshopped dates overlaid, but wasn't able to post it, so here goes:

    29. I am really enjoying looking at everyone's beautiful groups! It's a real challenge setting them up, everyone has been very creative.

angelynx-prime, I can only see your second picture. :-( Love your kabuki-inspired faceup on Koikaze (I have one in my crew too, if you can find him!), and your costumes for him and Xing are beautiful.

Can't believe I did this!! It took a couple of hours. I have too many BJDs!! By arrival, from old to new, left to right, back to front:

    30. Thank you galatia9! I guess I'll do a subtitled version like yours, since i can't post the version with added-on text. I love the Lion Dancer faceup on Shakkyo! --I made all of Yoikaze's leather armor and clothes, but I can't take the credit for Xing's, that's his original Soom fullset.

    31. angelynx-prime, your family looks great together! They look like they enjoy being with each other. Some of mine were feeling a bit claustrophobic by the end. LOL!

Your family is so beautifully dressed, gypsydale! Love your adorable Ayla and Lucy especially, and you have some very handsome fellows.

You have some stunning and exotic BJDs, Lady Ravenswood! Love your Freyr's headdress/mask. It took me a minute to figure out that was Beatrice's foot next to Sherlock. LOL!

konzenkoryuu, I like seeing your group interact with each other. Looks like Rhiannon is causing trouble!

    32. I had to wait til all the other competitions were done, so I didn't give anything away, but today I managed to get everyone on the couch. Didn't bother with floating heads though, and a couple dolls are away at a friend's. They are arranged in order of arrival (by head if body was not acquired at the same time), from left to right, back to front. I don't think I've taken a picture of my entire collection at once since I had only five or six dolls! I have just over forty now :aeyepop: It was pretty tough to get everyone balanced, let alone looking nice and presentable, so please excuse any weird looks or rumpled wigs.

I also took some closeups, which you can see here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cowpewter/sets/72157646724946380

Took me a moment to find your DD!

    34. Wow these are some amazing doll families!

    35. XD yup! Adem was all like "Rhi, be careful sitting way up there..." but she insisted that she could sit on the arm of the bench all by herself. :P

    36. I thought this would be really fun and it was! It took some time to dig out when I got which doll but here's the finish picture:

It's almost like a graph. I didn't buy anyone in 2010 unless I ended up selling but 2011 was a pretty big keeping year. Still looking for that last Nono for my addiction.

    37. Thank you! I really don't know how I wound up with all those Sooms. I was supposed to only be shelling characters... Suddenly I have a house full of cats, foxes, birds, and ponies. My poor DD is still waiting for me to get a body for my SQLab head so she has someone of equal stylization to hang out with... I love her anyway though.

kersuru your girls are all so pretty!

    38. cowpewter, that's what happened to me with tall Dollzone boys, I don't know where they came from all of a sudden. Somehow I have six of them now (one's a hybrid)! I figure if you let one in, they leave the door open for their friends. LOL!

kersuru, your resin family is beautiful, and your Nonos are stunning.

    39. Well... I've been meaning to do a large family portrait...

Question though, with second hand dolls... do we do the date the doll was made, or the date we purchased them? @_@

    40. It says in the order of purchase or arrival in the OP's description. :-) I did arrival.
