Faceups Tattoo help

Sep 2, 2016

    1. Hey guys,
I'm going to be doing a tattoo on my doll and I'm wondering the best way to do it. I'm not good at drawing so will be using temporary tattoos.

Just wondering what products you would use and where to find them.

    2. This might be helpful!

    4. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this post! I was wondering how to do tattoos on my doll too!
      Thanks!

    5. I found the video posted very informative but it also left me with a question or two that I can't find a clear answer on.

How do you remove a temporary tattoo later on?

Where is a good place to find tiny tattoos?
I've tried Etsy and other sites but I feel like maybe I am searching in the wrong spots/wording since I don't turn up much.

      Thanks!

    6. The tattoo should come off with normal face up removal techniques/products
If you can't find a tattoo in the scale you want you can buy tattoo paper for your printer and scale/print your own designs.

    7. I'm pretty sure the temporary tattoos that people use for dolls are generally the ones for kids (human sized) and parts of the tattoos can be cut from larger designs.
For eg. a small human temporary tattoo for the wrist or finger would be like an arm tattoo on a doll, and a picture tattoo for the arm could be a full back tattoo on a doll.
Just check the measurements of the tattoo and compare to the doll part, and if the design doesn't fit you can trim the tattoo as well.

Not all kids tattoos are cartoons so you should be able to find something suitable, if you google temporary tattoo book, you can see some adult style tattoos which will look good as large tattoos on dolls that are sold in little books.
I've found those books in places like discount stores etc.

    8. oh, this is kinda an old post, but! you can also print temp tattoos with waterslide paper that you can get from craft stores. That plus photoshop = go crazy! ^__^

    9. Not sure about temp tattoos, but water slide decals are too shiny. Maybe rub-on transfers would work?
Personally when I need to do a tribal tattoo-I'm using a painters tape, exacto knife and airbrush:)

    10. You can remove temporary tattoos with water and cotton, or alcohol (not sure ir it's safe to use alcohol on resin, I've never done it)

    11. Do they remain shiny after you seal over them with a flat sealant like Testors, though? I have never used water slide decals on a doll before but I imagine it could work.

    12. Unfortunately they do remain shiny. I'm using UV-resistant ultra matte coating and it's still shiny. That's why I'm thinking about rub-ons.

    14. Dunno if I bought cheap water slide tattoos but mine were fine after Unsealed them with matte sealer. Children's tattoos or check your scale for where it's going. Sometimes it's a bit of planning but depends on what you want.

    15. Hello Blink has a Temporary Tattoo maker. It's sold at Walmart, and makes cute little black n white tattoos you can print out.
It has an app that connects to the printer with bluetooth and has a little gallery of presets that isn't actually too bad, but you can also use your own pics from your phone.
The images get pretty small and stay sharp, so I'mma keep testing it and see what "too small" looks like for this cute little $30 party trick.
