I startet some weeks ago my own project. Sadly i can't access my Flickr rn Basic 3D Rendering qudrop Dolls on Instagram: “Progress of the body :) 3D model made by me Concept by @kiezmietzz #dollwip #dollartist #bjd #balljointeddoll #doll #bjddoll #germanbjd…” My first doll will be a racoon / panda / whatever animal you see in it - Anthro. Haha Soon i make the joints.
I look forward to seeing the photos and progress. I love the anthro style dolls and keep thinking how fun it would be to have one. Is it hard to do a face-up on a 3-D Printed doll? I'm curious as to how they compare to resin molded dolls and how techniques differ for finishing the dolls.
Hey Feymaker i would say it depends in which quality and printing technique. We have only a cheaper model at home, so i would not use the 3D print directly. The printing layers would be too visible. I will prime and sand a lot getting rid of these layers in have a smooth suface. I think you could do a faceup on that than. I guess the technique would be very similiar than because you wont paint on the 3D print material more you paint on the surface primer in my case. I saw some people doing it directly do a 3D print, but some looked rough. It depends a lot on printing quality. But i am also planning to mold and cast by myself - can't tell if i will be successfull because i never did that xD But i will do my best. I will also sell a very few ones oh the Tanuki then. But cant say for sure. Depends on my quality i can achieve
Thats good to know. I've never played with 3D printers and most of what I've seen has been rough. I was thinking they might be good for a base then sculpting on top and making a mold from the sculpts.
Made a lot progress. So if you want to see please check that instagram above. I need to check a new upload solution for me at the weekend i will post that pictures later here directly... but i am totally hooked into sculpting haha XD Cutted the head in half now. Only the tunnels are missing now and maybe resculpting some details.
