This is my concept idea for a cow-like BJD girl. I'm really excited by this idea because I love... well, cows (and Harvest Moon) and dolls with big cute hips~! I also love her little turned under ears. I guess I'm asking for a little bit of a critique to see if I can make this any more stable to be turned from sketch to BJD! I know you're going to ask what size she is going to be... This sketch was actually just a sketch, and I did't start out with it sized properly to anything... I guess she would be a tiny, given her proportions. What do you guys like? Are there any flaws that will hurt me while sculpting? Do you think she would look good with body blushing (pale pink tummy and chest, with some subtle creme skin tone and black spots? I outline it lightly in the sketch. Her underarms and inside thighs would be pink too. Her hooves would be black) Anything else? Thank you~! Also I'm sorry if I posted these images weirdly... OHHH Yeah, and before anybody jumps all over me for this: YES I KNOW THERE IS NO SIDE OR BACK VIEW. I'M SORRY! O_O This i all I have for now. I'll make more later one I fix the tweeks with this general concept I suppose. I had some trouble getting the side of the head to look right, any help with why that might still look awkward would help. Thank you and sorry for only the front view for now.
View attachment 79 Here's an example of the coloration. I don't have a scanner right now, so the photo is a little weird. She's a creamy-white, with a pink belly and underarms and thighs. She has black spots and white hair/wig. Her face... pretend it's not so dark where there aren't spots. I tried out more real cow-like markings on her face and they looked weird, so I tried to change them.
She's so cute - I love the concept!!! The only thing I could see being an issue would be the three part torso - you might want to explore your options as far as eliminating either the upper or the lower joint - I personally have a preference for upper abdominal jointing as I like tummies to be seamless and round - but that is aesthetic preference and not specifically for pose-ability. If she is in the Tiny scale would you be looking at the upper end closer to 30cm or toward the smaller end as in under 25cm? If its the upper end then you'd probably get away with it but on a smaller scale it could get a little fiddly. What material are you planning to sculpt her in?
You're so right I didn't even think of that! I guess i could make the hip part take up what I had as the third tummy part. I'm not sure how tall i want her to be. probably more around 25. i use premier stone clay.
I've never used that before - but I've heard good stuff about it - it on the list of products to try Like I said before its totally personal preference whether its upper or lower so whichever you think would best work for your design
Very cute concept. I am looking forward to seeing the progress on her. An idea: Make her hand hoofs too. Making the 4 fingers one hoof and the thumb a smaller hoof? To me that is easier to sculpt then fingers...lol
It's really great. it's lightweight and very forgiving. Ladoll is much heavier. And perhaps when i'm making the torso i can make it in two parts, see how it works, then cut it to have a third joint if needed. Thanks for the info!
Thanks~! ^_^ Aww that is a cute idea... Hahahah I'm not afraid of sculpting fingers... I might try a test of that hoof hand idea, but when I draw anthros they usually still have regular hands... unless they're a bird... well depending how far along they are with the curse that makes them that way.. well.. depending on--- gaH! Getting into my manga idea. Lol nevermind :P XD
