I have Gorilla Glue brand superglue, and I keep having an issue where I glue in head cap magnets, or try to make a minor repair, tape it let it set, and the pieces just pop apart. I usually put the glue on scrap paper and use a toothpick to dab it in place. Maybe I'm using too little glue? Help please!
I use Loctite brand superglue "ultra gel control" for magnets, and it generally works well! It's a little thicker so it grips the magnets more. For repairs - do you mean like, broken pieces of doll resin? Sometimes, the break is too smooth and clean and the glue will basically just slide off. A good solution can be to lightly sand the break with sandpaper, or lightly make a few tiny scratches with an exacto knife before applying the glue. Then it has a rougher surface to adhere to, which helps stabilize the connection. I hope this helps!
Is the glue the liquid kind or is it with a gel-like texture? Seconding that a gel glue is a better option for stuff like this. It sometimes takes a long while for the glue to dry on plastic surfaces as well so you might need more time before reassembly
What I've been using is fairly runny, so I'd guess it's the liquid kind. I've left things to dry overnight, so it gets fully dry. I'll look for the gel type this weekend. Thanks for the advice!
Resin is technically a plastic, and some superglues are not recommended on plastics because they just don't stick. Look for a glue that specifically mentions plastics, that should make a difference.
Loctite superglue works for me. Sorry for saying something stupid, but are you applying pressure or do you just lay the magnet on top and let dry? Cyanoacrilate activates when there's pressure on it. Hold it down for a minute or so.
