Has anyone had an experience shipping dolls through Superbuy? Not ordering one through them, but using their Taobao forwarding service for shipping only. Are there shipping prices outrageous? I know they really jack up their RMB (CNY) to USD conversion. I currently use Bhiner, which has worked out okay for me. However, I noticed that they no longer accept PayPal. Bhiner also opened a doll part of mine and proceeded to toss it in the same box as some other items I ordered when I specifically asked them not to. I do box-opening videos so that if anything is broken or wrong, I have proof that it came that way. Imagine my horror when an expensive resin doll part was OPENED and thrown into a box to roll around for a month until it arrived in the U.S. I know Taobao has a forwarding warehouse, but shipping dolls through them is not really ideal. They have a strict size limit and you can really ship anything bigger than a small MSD doll (combined [LxWxH] measurements cannot exceed 80cm). Not to mention you have NO IDEA what the shipping price is going to be until you ask for it to be shipped....and then you are screwed if it's too expensive. At least, that's the way it was a few years ago. I am afraid to try that again. Thanks for reading!
I've never shipped a doll through superbuy, but I've shipped several model kits that made for a very very large shipping box and the shipping expense was considerable (around $200 Canadian, though I paid for addition protective material inside and outside the box which certainly inflated the price). It might be easier and less expensive to ask an agent in China that frequently deals with dolls, like Alice from ACBJD, or Clover Singing to see if they would be able to proxy a doll for you. Their fees for ordering items will certainly be less than paying the shipping regularly through a shopping service.
I buy doll bodies and outfits through Superbuy. I would recommend them for shipping. I most recently bought a 75cm fron Xianyu and so far they only give me 16 shipping options that range between $60 to $358 USD~ (Because the box itself is 92cm long, I have less options than say shipping an MSD or a smaller doll.) They give you a price thats depending on the size of the doll box, and since most of the shipping services uses volumetric weight vs actual weight, that's really what knocks the price up! Good thing is they take paypal and you can use the pay-in-4 option for the shipping when you check out! Superbuy also had lots of extra options (like shrink wrap, ship the item in its original package, repack in lighter shipping material, etc) that you can choose when you receive your package. In May I bought a different 75cm body and picked DHL. The shipping came out to $168 USD after using one of their shipping coupons.
There's no denying that shipping has gone up a lot recently, no matter who you use. Even staying just US prices, a small first-class parcel is almost the same as zone Priority.
I might try Superbuy then. I like the idea of having packing options as Bhiner just does what they want with your package apparently. I had to argue with them for two days to ship my dolls in their original boxes and not open them. They didn't seem to understand this concept. Anyway, I didn't know ACBJD or Clover would do the shipping thing. I might have to ask them about it. FYI: You cannot use Pay-in-4 if you have a business account, which I do. To use this PayPal feature you have to have a personal account. That is what PayPal reps told me. I do have PayPal credit though which is good for anything over 99 bucks. Six months to pay with no interest. Thanks for the tips!
